UKRAINE CUTS FERROALLOY OUTPUT BY 3.2%

Ukraine’s largest ferroalloy smelters Nikopol and Zaporizhia ferroalloy works reduced ferroalloy output by 3.2% in January-May 2019 to 433,170 tonnes as compared with the same period in 2018, the Ukrainian Ferroalloy Producers’ Association told Interfax-Ukraine.
During the review period, overall silicon manganese production dropped by 7% to 350,010 tonnes and ferromanganese output was 15% up to 35,280 tonnes. Output of 45%-ferrosilicon grew by 6.1% to 35,680 tonnes and manganese metal production fell by 4% to 3,160 tonnes.
Nikopol Ferroalloy Works raised production of other ferroalloys by 2.4 times to 9,040 tonnes.
The country’s two manganese concentrate producers, the Pokrovsky (formerly Ordzhonikidze) and Marhanets mining and beneficiation plants, produced 555,580 tonnes of manganese concentrate in January-May 2019, which is 4.4% less than in January-May 2018.
Marhanets mining and beneficiation plant produced 205,430 tonnes of concentrate (a fall of 6.2%) and Pokrovsky mining and beneficiation plant made 350,150 tonnes (a decline of 3.4%) in January-May 2019 as compared with the same period last year. In addition, the latter produced 63,740 tonnes of manganese sinter, which is 20.7% less than in January-May 2018.

NATIONAL NUCLEAR GENERATING COMPANY ENERGOATOM CUTS POWER GENERATION IN 2018

National Nuclear Generating Company Energoatom reduced power generation by 1.4% year-on-year in 2018, to 84.626 billion kWh, the company has said. The electricity generation target was met by 102%. Electricity sales totaled 79.609 billion kWh compared to 80.502 billion kWh a year previously. Energoatom’s share of total electricity sold to Energomarket state enterprise was 54%, and the share of total electricity generation in the country was 53%.
The company sold electricity worth UAH 52.682 billion (including VAT) on the wholesale power market, which is 14.4% more than in 2017.
Capital investment totaled UAH 10.773 billion compared with UAH 5.9 billion in 2017.
The company sent UAH 8.58 billion to the budgets of all levels and insurance payments came to UAH 2.038 billion.
Capacity use was 69.6%, which was 1 p.p. less than a year previously.
Twenty one malfunctions were recorded at Ukrainian nuclear power plants in the reporting period, five more than a year ago. Radiation levels at Ukrainian NPPs were normal over the period.
Energoatom is the operator of all four Ukrainian-based operating nuclear power plants, which have 15 VVER reactors with an overall generating capacity of 13.835 gigawatts.
The company also operates the Tashlyk hydroelectric pumped storage power plant with a 302 MW capacity in a turbine mode and Oleksandrivka hydropower plant with an 11.5 MW capacity.

UKRAINE RAISES CHEESE IMPORT BY 30% AND CUTS EXPORT BY 4%

Ukraine exported 5,390 tonnes of cheese in January-August 2018, which is 4.1% less than in the same period in 2017. According to customs statistics released by the State Fiscal Service, in monetary terms exports amounted to $20.04 million, and this is 2.6% more than a year ago.
At the same time, cheese imports in January-August 2018 amounted to 7,810 tonnes, which is 30% more than in the same period in 2017. In terms of money, this indicator increased by 41.2%, to $38.31 million.
Exports of butter from Ukraine in January-August this year rose by 19.2%, to 21,410 tonnes. In monetary terms, this figure grew by 32.2% and amounted to $92.43 million. According to the State Fiscal Service, imports of this product increased 2.4 times, to 710 tonnes ($4.84 million).
Exports of milk and cream (condensed) in January-August decreased 19.8%, to 26,640 tonnes. Ukraine supplied condensed milk and cream for a total of $43.77 million against $57.07 million in January-August 2017. Imports of this group of goods increased by 1.7 times, to 1,430 tonnes ($3.51 million).

UKRAINE CUTS GAS PRODUCTION IN Q1, 2018

Production of natural gas in Ukraine in January-March 2018, according to live data, decreased by 0.7% (by 36.9 million cubic meters) compared to the same period in 2017, to 5.101 billion cubic meters, according to data from PJSC Ukrtransgaz. According to calculations by Interfax-Ukraine, in particular gas production by PJSC Ukrgazvydobuvannia amounted to 3.763 billion cubic meters (1.8% up from January-March 2017), PJSC Ukrnafta to 261.2 million cubic meters (16% down), by other companies to 1.076 billion cubic meters (4.8% down).
In March 2018, gas production amounted to 1.735 billion cubic meters (2.5% down compared to March 2017), in particular extraction by Ukrgazvydobuvannia was 1.289 billion cubic meters (0.1% up), Ukrnafta some 88.6 million cubic meters (16.2% down), other companies some 357.7 million cubic meters (7.3% down).
Ukrtransgaz, 100% owned by Naftogaz Ukrainy, operates a system of trunk gas pipelines and 12 underground gas storage facilities of the country with a total capacity of 31 billion cubic meters.
