Fight for title of absolute world champion between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk has been postponed again

The fight for the title of absolute world champion between British Tyson Fury and Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, scheduled for February 17, will not take place, Suspilne reports, citing Mike Coppinger, a journalist for the American international sports TV channel ESPN.

“On Friday, February 2, the Briton suffered a cut on his face during a sparring session. Fury was stitched up, due to which the WBC belt holder will not have time to prepare for the fight in February,” the statement said.

It is noted that this is the second time the fight has been postponed.

GERMANY TO PROVIDE UKRAINE WITH EUR 13.1 MLN TO FIGHT COVID-19

The German government will provide Ukraine with EUR 13.1 million for energy-efficient modernization of medical care facilities, procurement of latest basic medical equipment and equipment for outpatient diagnosis and treatment of coronavirus (COVID-19) disease.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, the relevant grant and project agreement was signed on February 8 between Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Oleksiy Reznikov, Director of the KfW Eastern Europe, Caucasus, Central Asia Department Olaf Zymelka and Executive Director of the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund Andriy Laktionov.
The aim of the project is to counter the threats and consequences of the pandemic by means of their energy efficient renewal and provision of the necessary medical equipment.
The funds will be used to upgrade the infrastructure and equip 12 institutions of primary and secondary (reference) medicine in Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia regions and in Donetsk and Luhansk regions controlled by the Ukrainian government with latest medical devices and protective equipment.
The project will be implemented by the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund (UFSI) within three years.
In addition, annexes were signed for other projects worth EUR 23.4 million, of which EUR 9 million was allocated to the construction of housing for internally displaced persons (13 facilities) and improvement of infrastructure (six schools and seven kindergartens) in communities hosting IDPs.
The second grant of EUR 14.45 million is aimed at improving the conditions for the provision of medical care. The purchase of new equipment and energy-efficient renovation of hospitals will advert at least 40 facilities in Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia regions and in the Russia-occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

WHO REGIONAL DIRECTOR FOR EUROPE AND PM OF UKRAINE DISCUSS FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has met with Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Hans Kluge, the parties discussed the fight against COVID-19 in Ukraine.
“Ukraine fully supports WHO in its efforts to ensure adequate testing and approval of vaccines, and advocates for equitable distribution of vaccines in a spirit of global solidarity. I am convinced that the Cooperation Agreement between Ukraine and WHO lays a solid foundation and contains a clear roadmap for our expanded cooperation,” the press service of the government quoted Shmyhal as saying.
The head of government stressed that today the development of safe and effective vaccines is the way out of the pandemic.
“Ukraine is a member of the COVAX Global Fund initiative, thanks to which we expect to receive the required amount of vaccines in the first quarter of the next year. At the same time, we would be grateful for help in obtaining a certain amount of vaccines faster,” the prime minister said.
Shmyhal noted that Ukraine is also considering the possibility of producing vaccines using its own pharmaceutical facilities, provided that they meet the necessary requirements of the developer company.

GERMANY DIRECTS EUR 150 MLN LOAN TO UKRAINE TO FIGHT AGAINST CORONAVIRUS

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has held a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and in the context of a possible increase of financial assistance to Ukraine to fight against COVID-19 coronavirus, they agreed to redirect EUR 150 million under a German state loan to relevant needs.
“The parties discussed the situation around the spread of coronavirus in the world, as well as practical measures taken in both countries to counter the pandemic. It was agreed to work out the possibility of establishing information exchange related to the pandemic, in particular regarding medical standards introduced to treat the disease,” the press service of the head of the Ukrainian state reports on Tuesday.
Merkel positively noted the adoption of laws on the turnover of agricultural land and on the regulation of banking. In this context, she also noted the importance of early conclusion of negotiations with the IMF on a new cooperation program.
“They also spoke about the need to allocate additional funding for Ukraine from the European Union and the World Bank,” the message reads.
