Kronospan opens logistics center near Kiev worth EUR20 mln

Kronospan Group, which has woodworking enterprises Kronospan UA (Volyn region) and Kronospan Rivne (Rivne region) in Ukraine, has invested more than EUR20 mln to establish a logistics center in Kalinovka village, Kyiv region, which was put into operation in May this year, said Natalia Pokinska, general director of Kronospan UA.

“In conditions of a full-scale war, disruption of logistics routes and other unfavorable conditions, we are investing more than EUR20 million logistics center near Kiev, the purpose of which is to receive road and rail freight from foreign Kronospan companies and our territorial divisions,” Pokinskaya said at the forum “FIT for Ukraine (Forum on Investments and Transformations): Furniture Cluster”.

According to her, the main stage of investments has been completed and the logistics center is currently located on 15 hectares of area, has facilities and capacities that it can provide to partners. Its construction was launched in 2019.

Pokinskaya emphasized that during 19 years of Kronospan Group’s work in Ukraine, the total volume of investments in the Ukrainian woodworking industry exceeded EUR900 million (both own funds and financial institutions, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)), and since the beginning of the full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine – EUR122 million.

She reminded that the construction of the plant in Rivne region, investments in which started in 2019 and where the first particleboard production line was commissioned in 2021, is one of the largest investment projects in Ukraine in recent years (more than EUR400 mln).

In total, more than 700 jobs have been created at the company’s enterprises.

Kronospan Group, established in Austria in 1897, today is a major global manufacturer of wood-based sheet materials. It includes more than 40 production plants in many countries.

Bratislava mayor to give Kiev 25 buses and help with rehabilitation center for military

Bratislava Mayor Mateusz Vallo has offered Kiev assistance in attracting world experts in consulting in the restoration of infrastructure, development of the transportation system, said Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko after a meeting with his Slovak counterpart.

“Our cities are linked by twinning relations… We agreed on further assistance from Bratislava, in particular in setting up a rehabilitation center for the military, which Kiev is creating. We also discussed the future restoration of Ukraine and Kyiv,” Klitschko wrote in Telegram on Tuesday evening.

Also, according to him, Bratislava will soon hand over 25 city buses to Kiev as aid. Now they are being prepared for shipment, the mayor of the Ukrainian capital said.

South Korean president arrives in Kiev

South Korean President Yoon Seok-yol has arrived in Ukraine on an unannounced visit, South Korea’s Ryonhap news agency reported.

“Yoon and first lady Kim Kyung-hee arrived in Ukraine from Poland,” the agency quoted the president’s senior press secretary Kim Eun-hye as saying Saturday.

Yoon reportedly visited the site of mass killings in Bucha near Kiev and then visited Irpin.

According to the news agency, the South Korean president “plans to lay a wreath at a war memorial before holding a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.”

The visit comes at the end of a two-stage trip of the South Korean president, during which he visited Lithuania at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit and then Poland on an official visit.

Kiev Dobrobut launched physical rehabilitation department

Dobrobut Medical Network has launched a physical rehabilitation department at the therapeutic and diagnostic center at 3 Semya Idzikovskikh Street in Kiev.
According to the network’s press release, the department is headed by Daniil Safronov – one of Ukraine’s most experienced specialists in physical and rehabilitative medicine, a doctor of the highest category, a certified teacher of the Neurac method in Ukraine with experience working with injuries and their aftermath in the war zone.
“The war, which is in its tenth year in Ukraine, has given a powerful impetus to the development of physical rehabilitation, although there has always been a shortage of specialists in this field. I can confidently say that today Ukrainian physical therapists are among the best in the world,” Safronov says.
The new rehabilitation center will be dealing with the rehabilitation after injuries and operations on the musculoskeletal system, the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system and pain syndromes, the rehabilitation of athletes, rehabilitation after combat injuries, the correction of posture disorders. Patients can receive counseling, physiotherapy, chiropractic and motor therapy.
In addition, rehabilitation services are provided to patients with degenerative changes in the spine and joints (osteoarthritis, herniations, protrusion), neuropathy (peripheral nerve involvement), pain in the muscles or soft connective tissues, tendinopathy (tendon involvement), slowly healing fractures, muscle atrophy, circulatory and innervation disorders.
The department is equipped with state-of-the-art focused shockwave and laser therapy units, Redcord suspension systems for kinesiotherapy and rehabilitation.
The nursing network reports that the new department will offer a no-cost rehabilitation assistance program for military personnel from July 3 through August 31 with the support of Direct Relief, an international charitable foundation.
