EGGS AND MEAT PRODUCTION DECREASE IN UKRAINE IN H1

Sales of meat for slaughter (in live weight) decreased by 2.5% in Ukraine in January-June 2021, year-over-year, to 1.60 million tonnes, milk production by 5.3%, to 4.32 million tonnes, eggs by 13.6%, to 7.38 billion pieces, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said on the website on Friday.
According to it, as of July 1, the poultry population in Ukraine decreased by 3.8%, year-over-year, to 239.2 million heads, cattle by 6.5%, to 3.23 million heads (including the number of cows decreased by 5.8%, to 1.67 million heads), sheep and goats by 5.0%, to 1.39 million heads, while the number of pigs increased by 0.7%, to 6.11 million heads.
The sale of poultry for slaughter by agricultural enterprises decreased by 0.6% in the six months of 2021 versus January-June 2020 and amounted to 325.06 million heads, the sale of pigs increased by 10.1%, to 2.51 million heads, cattle decreased by 14.2%, to 157,900 heads, sheep by 27.9%, to 24,000 heads.
Agricultural enterprises for the same period sold 21.5% fewer eggs, 3.52 billion pieces.
The State Statistics Service said that for the specified period, Kyiv region became the leaders in the production of eggs with 1.32 billion pieces (2% more year-over-year), Khmelnytska with 260 million pieces (33.2% less), Kherson with 252.3 million pieces (28.6% less) and Dnipropetrovsk regions with 249.9 million pieces (5.2% less).
According to the statistics department, in the first half of 2021 most milk was produced by the enterprises of Poltava some 195,800 tonnes (1% less year-over-year), Cherkasy some 143,200 tonnes (5.1% less), Kharkiv some 123,200 tonnes (1.7% more) and Chernihiv some 115,100 tonnes (7.0% less).

SALES OF MEAT, EGGS AND MILK FELL IN UKRAINE

Egg production falls by 13.7%, meat by 6.2% in Jan-March – statistics
Sales of meat for slaughter (in live weight) in Ukraine in January-March 2021 decreased 6.2% compared to January-March 2020, to 799,600 tonnes, milk production fell by 4.9%, to 1.75 million tonnes, eggs – by 13.7%, to 3.24 billion pieces, the State Statistics Service has reported. According to the authority, as of April 1, the poultry stock in Ukraine declined compared to April 1, 2020 by 4.9%, to 190.7 million heads, cattle by 6.4% – to 3.13 million heads (including the number of cows that decreased 5.7%, to 1.67 million heads), sheep and goats fell by 5.2%, to 1.32 million heads, and the number of pigs increased 3.7%, to 5.99 million heads.
According to the State Statistics Service, the sale of poultry for slaughter by agricultural enterprises in the first quarter of this year did not change compared to the first quarter of 2020 and amounted to 158 million heads, the sale of pigs grew by 7.0%, to 1.21 million heads, cattle decreased 19.3%, to 76,500 heads, sheep decreased 29.1%, to 11,100 heads. During the same period, agricultural enterprises sold 21.3% fewer eggs – 1.86 billion pieces.
The State Statistics Service said that the production of eggs in January-March 2021 significantly decreased compared to January-March 2020 in Ivano-Frankivsk region, to 60.3 million pieces (a fall of 49.5%), Mykolaiv to 30.8 million pieces (a fall of 47.1%) and Kharkiv to 100.2 million pieces (a fall of 40.3%), but increased significantly in Cherkasy region to 193.6 million pieces (a rise of 29%)
According to the authority, milk production for the first quarter of 2021 decreased most of all in Rivne region – to 59,400 tonnes (a fall of 14.7%), Odessa region to 45,100 tonnes (a fall of 11.7%), Mykolaiv region to 43,300 tonnes (a fall of 11.4%), but increased in Ternopil region to 75,200 tonnes (a rise of 6.8%) and Khmelnytsky region to 131,100 tonnes (a rise of 3.9%).

NESTLE UKRAINE LAUNCHES SALES OF PLANT-BASED PRODUCTS RESEMBLING MEAT IN TASTE

Nestle Corporation starts selling a line of Garden Gourmet plant-based products in Ukraine, resembling meat in taste, appearance and texture.
The company’s press service reported on Thursday that the Garden Gourmet product line is represented in Ukraine by Sensational Burger, Sensational Sausage, Vegan Meatballs and Vegetarian Nuggets.
The press service of Nestle told Interfax-Ukraine that the new products will be delivered to a number of restaurants in Kyiv and Lviv, and the Garden Gourmet line will arrive in the retail network at the end of 2021. At the same time, the selling prices of new products are not disclosed.
The company said that Garden Gourmet products consist of natural plant ingredients, and the dye in plant products is beet juice and fruit and vegetable concentrate. The product also contains wheat, soy, oil and water. According to Nestle, the shell of Sensational Sausage uses natural algae.
According to the company, the production of vegetable burgers requires 80% less energy compared to a similar meat product. Also, the production of Garden Gourmet products reduces the carbon footprint and land use compared to the meat product by 80% and 75%, respectively.
“The choice in favor of plant products helps to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases in food production. Thanks to the optimal price, this product is affordable for everyone, and we hope that Ukrainians will discover the world of plant foods thanks to Garden Gourmet,” Nestle Professional Business Executive Officer in Ukraine and Moldova Elena Shevelyova said.

UKRAINE CUTS MEAT, EGGS, MILK PRODUCTION

Milk production in Ukraine decreased by 4.1%, to 8.02 million tonnes in January-October 2020 (excluding the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, Sevastopol, the Joint Forces Operation zone) compared to the same period in 2019.
According to the State Statistics Service, 2.71 million tonnes of meat (live weight) were produced in the ten months, which is 1.2% less than in January-October of the previous year.
Egg production decreased by 1.6%, to 14.09 billion eggs for the reporting period.
According to the State Statistics Service, milk production in Ukraine in 2019 decreased by 3.6%, to 9.7 million tonnes compared to 2018. Egg production increased by 3.4% to 16.68 billion in 2019, and meat (live weight) by 5.3%, to 3.49 million tonnes.

UKRAINE SEES MEAT AND EGG PRODUCTION FALL

Milk production in Ukraine in January-August 2020 (excluding the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, Sevastopol, the JFO zone) decreased by 0.2% compared to the same period in 2019, to 6.46 million tonnes.
According to the State Statistics Service, 2.15 million tonnes of meat (in live weight) were produced in the first eight months of this year, which is 0.2% less than in January-August of the previous year.
Egg production in January-August 2020 decreased by 0.9%, to 11.54 billion eggs.
