DELEGATION WITH NAVAL ATTACHÉ AT UNITED STATES EMBASSY VISITS ODESA

A delegation led by the naval attaché at the United States Embassy in Ukraine Peter Mallory has arrived in Odesa, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reports.
According to a report on the department’s website, the naval attaché visited the main base of the Ukrainian Naval Forces, where he held a number of bilateral meetings with representatives of the command of the Ukrainian Navy. The parties discussed areas of bilateral military cooperation.
“We have extensive experience of long-term cooperation with our partners, we have cooperation in terms of both training our ship crews, command and control bodies, and manning and enhancing the capabilities of the Navy at sea. Today was dedicated to cooperation in different directions – this is the training of personnel, and the replenishment of the naval personnel,” said commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Navy Oleksiy Neizhpapa after the meeting.
According to him, the issue of security in the Black and Azov Seas was also discussed.
“This cooperation is very useful and necessary for the Ukrainian Navy,” he said.

ODESA AIRPORT CUTS PASSENGER TRAFFIC BY 55%

Odesa International Airport in January-September 2020 reduced passenger traffic to 555,800 0 passengers, which is 55% less than the volume for the same period in 2019.
As reported on the airport’s Facebook page on Monday, in particular, 435,500 0 passengers were transported on international flights, which is 58% less than in the first nine months of 2019. Some 120.2 thousand people flied domestic flights, which is 49% less.
The number of flights performed in the first nine months of 2020 was 7,048, which is 46% less than the volume for the same period in 2019 (4,572 international flights (a decline of 51%), and 2,476 domestic flights (a fall of 30%).
At the same time, in September 2020, the passenger traffic of the airport amounted to 71,900 people, which is 60% less than in September 2019 (49,200 passengers on international flights (a fall of 66%), and 22,680 passengers on domestic flights (a decline of 25%).
The number of flights performed in September of this year was 1,035, which is 38% less than in September 2019 (588 international flights (a fall of 52%), and 447 domestic flights (1% down).
As reported, the Odesa international airport in 2019 serviced 1.694 million passengers, which is 17.1% more than in 2018.
Odessa International Airport LLC is a joint venture established in November 2011 by the Odesa City Council and the private investor Odesa Airport Development, which finances the construction of a new airport terminal and infrastructure worth $45 million.

ODESA PORT-SIDE PLANT EXTENDS TOLLING CONTRACT WITH AGRO GAS TRADING

The board of JSC Odesa Port-Side Plant has extended a control for tolling gas processing with Agro Gas Trading LLC from September 1, 2020.
The plant said that the contract was extended until the moment when the new winner of the tender is selected, but no later than the end of 2020. As part of the prolongation of the contract, the terms of cooperation have been improved: from September 1, the price for one tonne of ammonia will be $41 and $60 per tonne for urea.
The Odesa Port-Side Plant recalled that the last announced tender was blocked in courts by one of its participants, and the procedure for selecting a supplier company approved by the supervisory board of the plant provides for a ban on out-of-tender selection.
“According to the current legal regulations, the decision to extend the contract with the current tolling supplier was the only one to which the board had the right, taking into account the existing injunction, and no alternative from the point of view of ensuring the stable operation of the plant,” the plant said.
The plant said that the continuity of the production process in terms of improving financial and social performance is a priority for the company’s management.

UKRZALIZNYTSIA LAUNCHES TWO ADDITIONAL TRAINS FROM ODESA TO KYIV, LVIV

JSC Ukrzaliznytsia for the upcoming Independence Day of Ukraine will launch additional high-speed trains No. 224/223 Odesa-Kyiv and No. 168/167 Lviv-Odesa.
According to the company’s press service, the trains will be launched due to an increased demand for passenger transportation services on holidays.
Train No. 224/223 will transport passengers between Odesa and Kyiv on August 22 and 24.
Train No. 168/167 will transport passengers between Lviv and Odesa on August 22, 24, 26, 28 and 30.

INTERNATIONAL SQUASH CHAMPIONSHIP TO TAKE PLACE IN ODESSA

Odesa to host Zenit Black Sea Open 2020 international squash championship
The 10th international squash championship Zenit Black Sea Open 2020 will take place at the Sport Life fitness center in Odesa on August 20-23, 2020.
The competition will be held with the aim of strengthening sports and cultural ties between countries and athletes, promotion and development of squash in Ukraine, as well as improvement of junior athletes’ skills.

The tournament will be held for four days in eight categories:
Men: PRO, Amateur, M40+ and M45+
Women: PRO, Amateur
Juniors: GU13, BU13
The total number of participants is 150 people.
The tournament will bring together athletes from Ukraine (Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Poltava, Kherson and Odesa), Belarus, the United States, the UK and South Africa.
The venue address: Odesa, 2 Nebesnoyi Sotni (Heavenly Hundred) Avenue.
The tournament will start at 13:00 on August 20.
The final part of the tournament and the awarding ceremony will start at 21:00 on August 23.
Zenit Black Sea Open 2020 is the most well-known and largest international tournament in the history of independent Ukraine. It brings together a large number of participants representing many countries, as well as numerous organizations involved in the preparations for and holding the competition.
The main organizers of the event are the national chain of fitness clubs Sport Life, which is also a fitness partner of the tournament, as well as Dmytro Scherbakov and Maksym Urakin.

EPIDEMIC SITUATION IN VOLYN, ZHYTOMYR, IVANO-FRANKIVSK, LVIV, ODESA, RIVNE, SUMY, KHARKIV AND CHERNIVTSI EXCEEDS CRITERIA FOR EASING LOCKDOWN

The epidemic situation in Volyn, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Odesa, Rivne, Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernivtsi regions does not meet the criteria for easing lockdown, the Health Ministry said on its website on Tuesday.
The occupancy of beds, in particular, exceeds the permissible indicator of 53.31% in Lviv region. However, in Odesa and Sumy regions, the dynamics of the spread of the disease exceeds the established value of 10%.
The percentage of disease detection is higher than the established value of 11% in Volyn, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Kharkiv and Chernivtsi regions.
As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine introduced adaptive lockdown until August 31, 2020, changed the principle of the distribution of regions to strengthen lockdown measures.
Depending on the epidemic situation in the region or individual administrative territorial units-districts, a “green,” “yellow,” “orange” or “red” level of epidemic danger of the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) disease is established.
