One of deputies announces appointment of former Prosecutor General as Ambassador of Ukraine to Switzerland

Yaroslav Zheleznyak, People’s Deputy of the Holos faction, announced that there was a proposal to the President for the appointment of former Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova as Ukraine’s Ambassador to Switzerland, but there is no official information about the decree yet.
“Now there is an ambassador to Switzerland – Irina Venediktova,” Zheleznyak wrote in Telegram on Wednesday.
At the same time, the media, citing Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, report that he signed a submission to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the appointment of Venediktova as ambassador to Switzerland.
Zheleznyak later added in a Telegram that “officially it is still unknown whether the president signed, but there is already a submission from the Foreign Ministry.”
The agency does not currently have official information about the appointment of Venediktova as the head of the diplomatic mission of Ukraine in Switzerland.

New Prosecutor General of Ukraine expected to be appointed in next 10 days

The appointment of a new prosecutor general is expected in the next ten days, his first and main task should be the appointment of the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, head of the Servant of the People faction David Arakhamia has said.

“His first and main task should be the appointment of the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, as required by the President of Ukraine. And in order to avoid any delays on this issue, I want to appeal to the competition commission for the election of the SAPO head with a request to complete all the necessary procedures within 10 days,” he wrote on his Telegram channel on Thursday.

As reported, on July 19, the Verkhovna Rada supported the presentation of President Volodymyr Zelensky and agreed to the dismissal of Iryna Venediktova from the post of Prosecutor General of Ukraine, and Ivan Bakanov from the post of head of the Security Service of Ukraine.

VIKTOR CHUMAK APPOINTED AS DEPUTY PROSECUTOR GENERAL

Viktor Chumak, who had been Deputy Prosecutor General and Chief Military Prosecutor of Ukraine until January 2, 2020, has been appointed as Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine (PGO) reported on its website. As reported, the PGO started its work on January 2, 2020.
The law, which was passed on September 19, 2019, provides for creating a new system of prosecution agencies following the attestation of prosecutors and elimination of military prosecutor’s offices. The prosecutor general is entitled to set up specialized prosecutor’s offices in case of necessity as departments of the PGO, regional and district prosecutor’s offices.
According to the law, the prosecutor general will have two first deputies and an unlimited number of deputies.
The law abolishes military prosecutor’s offices and the position of deputy prosecutor general and chief military prosecutor.

UKRAINIAN PROSECUTOR GENERAL LUTSENKO SIGNS LETTER OF RESIGNATION

Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko has signed a letter of resignation to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Letter to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky from the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Lutsenko. Please, dismiss me from the post of Prosecutor General on my own wish on the basis of Paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Article 42 of the law of Ukraine on the Prosecutor’s Office,” Lutsenko said, reading the text of the letter, after which he signed it.
The signing of the letter was broadcasted live on Thursday. The document was dated August 29, 2019.

NEWLY ELECTED UKRAINIAN PARLIAMENT WILL FORM GOVT, REPLACE SBU HEAD, GIVE CONSENT TO PRESIDENT TO REPLACE PROSECUTOR GENERAL

The group for the preparation of the first meeting of the newly elected Verkhovna Rada has voted on the agenda of the first session of the parliament for the period of consideration of organizational issues of the first session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the ninth convocation. The first working meeting of the parliament will begin with the formation of a temporary presidium of the first session of the Rada. Then, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman will announce the resignation of powers by the Cabinet of Ministers in front of the new Verkhovna Rada.
After that, parliamentary factions and groups will be formed. Then the issue of a coalition of deputy factions (a deputy faction that has coalition rights) will be resolved.
The accounting commission of the parliament, its chairman, first deputy and deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada will be elected.
Next, an extraordinary message from President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on the internal and external situation in Ukraine will be heard.
MPs also intend to dismiss the head of the Security Service of Ukraine and appoint a new head of the agency, to resolve the issue of giving consent to the dismissal from office by the president of the prosecutor general of Ukraine and the appointment of a new prosecutor general.
