MYKOLAIVOBLENERGO MODERNIZES POWER GRIDS TO CONNECT 10 MW SOLAR POWER PLANT OF NICK SOLAR

JSC Mykolaivoblenergo has concluded an agreement with Mykolaiv-based Svitlolux-Elektromontazh LLC on modernization of the substation Maryivka 150/35/10 kV (Bashtansky district, Mykolaiv region) to connect it to a solar power plant of Nick Solar LLC with a capacity of 10 MW.
According to ProZorro, the agreement worth UAH 4.9 million (including VAT) was signed on June 20, 2019.
According to the Single Register of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs, Nick Solar belongs to Cyprus-based Nicken Holdings LTD, which was owned by founders of investment company ICU Makar Paseniuk and Kostiantyn Stetsenko until 2019.
According to the law firm Sayenko Kharenko, which was a legal counselor of the U.S. VR Capital Group during the purchase of a 50% stake in Nicken Holdings LTD from ICU, Nicken Holdings owns 11 Ukrainian engineering companies which are constructing 11 solar power plants in Mykolaiv region with a total capacity of 127 MW.
VR Capital jointly with ICU built a 64 MW solar power plant near Kamianets-Podilsky (Khmelnytsky region). They are also finishing a 35 MW solar power plant project in Kherson region.
VR Capital Group President Richard Deitz through Cyprus-based Wiltan Enterprises Limited owns also Sunvin 12 and Sunvin 14 LLCs which in 2019 put into operation solar power plants with the capacities of 15.6 MW and 13 MW in Kirovohrad region.

SCATEC SOLAR JOINTLY WITH CHINA’S POWERCHINA STARTS BUILDING 148 MW SOLAR POWER PLANT IN UKRAINE

Norway’s Scatec Solar jointly with China’s POWERCHINA Guizhou Engineering Co. Ltd. has started implementing a project to build the Prohresivka solar power plant with a capacity of 148 MW (Prohresivka, Mykolaiv region). The press service of the company reported that the total cost of the project is EUR 124 million. POWERCHINA covers 65% of capital expenditure. The launch of the plant is scheduled for H1 2020.
As reported, Scatec Solar in 2018 established and acquired about half a dozen companies in Ukraine to implement its projects on the construction of solar power plants.

33 MW SOLAR POWER PLANT OF BUSINESSMAN KHMELNYTSKY TO BE CONNECTED TO SUBSTATION

Podilsky Energoconsulting LLC under a contract with PJSC Zaporizhiaoblenergo will reconstruct the Robocha substation to connect Scythia Solar 2 photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 33 MW belonged to UDP Renewables of businessman Vasyl Khmelnytsky.
The cost of the contract signed on June 3, 2019 is UAH 20.641 million, according to the ProZorro e-procurement platform.
According to a posting on the website of UDP Renewables, the start of the operation of Scythia Solar 2 photovoltaic power plant is scheduled for September 2019.
The plant is located on the territory of Kostiantynivka rural council of Melitopol district of Zaporizhia region.
As reported, UDP Renewables on March 1, 2019 launched Scythia Solar 1 photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 13 MW in Zaporizhia region. Investment in the project totaled $10.1 million.
KNESS (Podilsky Energoconsulting LLC is a member of the goup) acted as general contractor and Ukrgasbank (Kyiv) acted as a financial partner.
According to UDP Renewables, its plans include an increase in the 2 photovoltaic power plants portfolio to 175 MW in 2019.

TIU CANADA LAUNCHES SOLAR POWER PLANT IN UKRAINE

TIU Canada on Thursday launched a solar power plant with a capacity of 13.575 MW in Kalynivka, Mykolaiv region.
The company’s press service reported that investment totaled over EUR 11 million. The plant cosists of 39,000 PV panels placed on 20 ha.
As reported, referring to TIU Canada in Ukraine Manager Valentyna Beliakova, TIU Canada plans to complete construction of two solar power plants with a total capacity of some 31 MW in Lymansky district of Odesa region this summer. The company will return to them after the adoption of the law on green auctions.
TIU Canada began its activity in Ukraine in June 2017. Its owner is the investment company Refraction Asset Management (Calgary, Canada). The company has already built a solar power plant with a capacity of 10.5 MW in Nikopol.

BELGIUM COMPANY FINISHES CONSTRUCTION OF FIRST PHASE OF 6 MW SOLAR POWER PLANT IN UKRAINE

Belgium’s Upgrade Energy is finishing construction of a first phase of a solar power plant with a capacity of 5.9 MW in Korosten district of Zhytomyr region, installing 18,000 PV modules, the press service of the Zhytomyr Regional Administration has reported, referring to acting Director of the agricultural and industrial development and economic policy of the regional administration Viktor Hradivsky.
The total capacity of Irshansk solar power plant will be 25-30 MW.
In 2018, the Zhytomyr Regional Administration signed 14 memorandums with investors in solar power plants. In particular, Altostrata Energy Limited (Ireland) proposed a 65 MW solar power plant project in Luhyny district. In April, Altostrata Energy signed an agreement on connecting the plant to the power grid, and at the end of the month the company intends to start construction.
In the summer of 2019, a 10 MW plant is also expected to be launched in the village of Chopovychi, Malyn district, by the GESS group of companies (the United States).
In March, public hearings were held on the establishment of a feed-in tariff for a 20 MW solar power plant on the territory of the Khoroshiv merged territorial community, which Global Ecopower SA (France) intends to build.
As reported, Modus Energy International B.V. LLC (Lithuania) plans to build a 35 MW solar power plant on the territory of Lubar merged community. In February 2019, the company received a declaration for construction, as well as technical conditions for connection from national energy company Ukrenergo.
Eney International LLC is preparing land utilization documentation for the construction of a 55 MW solar power plant in the Brusyliv district.
A subsidiary of Naftogaz-Energoservice is developing a construction project for a 30 MW solar power plant on the territory of the Dubysche village council of Chudniv district.
Currently, one industrial 15 MW Hanska solar power plant (the investor is Better Energy Energo, Denmark) is operating in Zhytomyr region, which was launched at the end of last year.

UKRAINE READY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 763 KW SOLAR POWER PLANT IN CHORNOBYL NPP ZONE

Construction of one more solar power plant with a capacity of 762 kW on the territory of the Chornobyl exclusion zone will be started in July 2019 and completed in December, the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry has told Interfax-Ukraine. The project is financed by the Government of Spain. According to Svitlana Hrynchuk, Director of the Department for Climate Change and the Ozone Globe of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry, the solar power plant in Chornobyl is being built under a program of targeted environmental (“green”) investments that Ukraine received from Spain, transferring its emission quotas for greenhouse gases.
According to the ministry, at the end of 2018, a joint Ukrainian-Spanish committee, which controls the efficiency and feasibility of using the Kyoto funds provided by the Spanish government, approved the respective project to reconstruct the asphalt concrete pavement on the territory of the Chornobyl sports stadium by installing the solar power plant. The project was developed by state-owned enterprise Center for Organizational, Technical and Information Support of the Exclusion Zone Management.
The ministry also said that at the end of March, the Ukrainian-Spanish delegation, which included Ambassador of Spain to Ukraine Silvia Josefina Cortes Martin, as well as representatives of Ukrainian ministries and departments, inspected the territory where the plant will be installed.
Cooperation with the Spanish government was resumed in 2016 after an almost 10-year break, the ministry recalled. About 10 years ago, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of Spain bought the so-called Assigned Amount Units from Ukraine for EUR 30 million.
Currently, a solar power plant with a capacity of 1 MW is operating in the Chornobyl zone. The plant was built by Ukrainian-German consortium Rodina-Enerparc AG in 2018. The consortium plans to expand the plant’s capacity to 100 MW.
