GAS STOCKS IN UNDERGROUND GAS STORAGE FACILITIES OF UKRAINE EXCEED 21 BCM

Ukraine boosted its natural gas stocks in underground gas storage facilities (UGS) by 23.28 billion cubic meters (bcm), to 21.026 bcm from April 4 to October 13, 2019, according to JSC Ukrtransgaz.
Interfax-Ukraine’s estimates show that this volume exceeds the inventory indicator as of October 13, 2018 by 26.4%, that as of October 13, 2017 by 25.5% and of October 13, 2016 by 42.7%.
Some 594.48 million cubic meters (mcm) was pumped into the country’s storage facilities on October 1 through October 13, which was 45.7 million cubic meters (mcm) per day on the average. The average daily amount in September was 72.5 mcm, it was 77.5 mcm in August, 74.4 mcm in July, 71.9 mcm in June, and 62.9 mcm in May.
Some 44.5 mcm of natural gas was pumped into the country’s UGS facilities on October 13, 2019, alone, while gas import totaled 60.4 mcm and domestic production was 54.9 mcm.
Earlier, Chairman of Executive Board of Naftogaz Ukrainy Andriy Kobolev said that the company planned to pump additional volumes of natural gas into the Ukrainian underground storage facilities in the event that Russia’s Gazprom ceases gas transit through the country in 2020.
As was reported, during the heating season from November 6, 2018, to April 4, 2019, Ukraine’s gas stocks in the UGS facilities shrank by 8.45 bcm (from 17.195 bcm to 8.745 bcm).
Ukrtransgaz, fully owned by Naftogaz Ukrainy, operates a system of gas pipelines and 12 underground gas storages in the country. Their total capacity is 31 bcm.

COAL STOCKS IN THERMAL POWER PLANTS’ WAREHOUSES IN SEPT GROW BY 55.7%

Coal reserves in the warehouses of thermal power plants (TPP) of Ukraine’s energy generating companies as of September 23, 2019, totaled 1.072 million tonnes, which was 55.7% (383,700 tonnes) more than in early September, but 36.9% (626,000 tonnes) down year–over–year, according to the Energy and Environment Protection Ministry.
Interfax-Ukraine’s estimates show that since the start of autumn, anthracite coal reserves in thermal power plants’ warehouses have increased by 12.3%, or by 29,200 tonnes, to 265,800 tonnes (31.1%, or 63,100 tonnes up year-over–year). Gas coal reserves for the reporting period have grown by 78.4%, or 354,400 tonnes, to 806,200 tonnes (46%, 689,100 tonnes, down year-over-year.
Anthracite and gas coal reserves in the warehouses of cogeneration plants (CHPP) from the beginning of the month have increased by 2.4%, or 33,100 tonnes, to 131,400 tonnes. However, this is 54.1%, or 155,000 tonnes, down on last year’s reserves.
As reported, consumption of thermal coal by Ukraine’s TPPs and CHPPs in 2018 grew by 5.7%, or 1.409 million tonnes, compared to 2017, to 26.22 million tonnes.

GAS STOCKS IN UKRAINE’S UGS MAXIMUM SINCE 2012 – UKRTRANSGAZ

Reserves of natural gas in Ukraine’s underground gas storage facilities (UGS) as of August 21 had reached 17.4 billion cubic meters (bcm), which is the highest figure on this date since 2012.
According to the press service of Ukrtransgaz, the high pace of the current year has already led to the fulfillment of planned volumes for injection at four underground storage facilities (Solokhovske, Krasnopartyzanske, Proletarske, Krasnopopivske).
Currently, gas injection continues at Bilche-Volytsko-Uherske, Uherske, Dashavske, Bohorodchanske, Oparske and Kehychivske underground gas storage facilities, where the average daily pumping is about 75 million cubic meters.
According to Ukrtransgaz, at the same time, more than 270 companies today use the services of the company to store gas in underground gas storage facilities both in a common mode and in a customs warehouse mode. Compared to last year, the number of such companies rose by 40%.
