Ukraine exported 15 million tonnes of grains and legumes since the beginning of the new 2020/2021 marketing year (July-June) and as of October 26, which is 2.94 million tonnes less than on the same date of the last MY.
According to the information and analytical portal of the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine, to date, 10.11 million tonnes of wheat (less by 810,000 tonnes), 3.3 million tonnes of barley and 1.54 million tonnes of maize (less by 2.05 million tonnes) have been exported.
As of October 26 of this year, 60,000 tonnes of flour were exported as well.
As reported, Ukraine exported record 57.2 million tonnes of grains, legumes and flour in the 2019/2020 marketing year, which is 13.5% more than in the previous marketing year.
Euroterminal LLC has begun the construction of an access railway track to Odesa-Peresyp railway station with a throughput of up to 1 million tonnes of cargo per year.
“The railway line, which is being built by Euroterminal, will allow handling a larger volume of containers, reduce the load on city streets from the movement of heavy vehicles and reduce the costs of shippers, forwarders and other participants in the transport process. In addition, the new railroad will become an additional incentive for the development of logistics of the “dry port” and the adjacent territories as well,” the press service quoted the general director of Euroterminal, Oleksandr Eismont.
According to the company, up to 20% of containerized cargo is transported to Odesa seaport by rail, the rest by road.
Euroterminal notes that this is due to the discrepancy between the throughput of the railway tracks of the port and Odesa-Port station. The throughput of Odesa-Port railway station is 792 wagons per day, while the port is capable of handling several times more wagons.
“This is especially noticeable during peak loads on the railway in spring and autumn, when grain is sent for export from the port’s sea terminals. This is explained by the fact that the port is within the city and it is almost impossible to develop railway infrastructure,” the report says.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba states that the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States will develop regardless of who wins the American presidential election.
“My only wish regarding the American elections is that they end as soon as possible, the U.S. president-elect take the oath and we could move on in developing a strategic partnership between our countries, which, I am sure, will develop under any president. The only question is the speed of development,” said the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in an exclusive interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
He stressed that Ukraine was, is and will be on the sidelines of the U.S. presidential campaign. “We were, are and will be on the sidelines of this campaign. We believe that American democracy is mature enough to make decisions and make choices that are in the interests of the American people,” Kuleba said.
The minister also pointed out that Ukraine’s largest asset in the United States is bipartisan support.
“In fact, there is a clear position of the president, which has been stressed many times, there is a clear position of the Foreign Ministry that Ukraine’s largest asset in the United States is bipartisan support. This is the fundamental principle of our policy towards the United States. The president’s surname or party affiliation does not matter as long as Ukraine is equally supported by both democrats and republicans,” Kuleba added.
