Rubizhne cardboard packaging mill in Luhansk region, one of Ukraine’s largest cardboard packaging producers, produced 235.23 million square meters of corrugated cardboard boxes in January-November 2018, including goods from its Trypilsky packaging plant, which is 13.6% up year-over-year.
Thus, production growth in the 11 months somewhat slowed compared to the same period last year, the UkrPapir association said.
The mills increased production of components of corrugated cardboard (cardboard and fluting) by 4.6%, to 267,130 tonnes.
The total commodity amount produced by both plants in the period in monetary terms grew by 30%, to UAH 5.113 billion.
According to UkrPapir association, cardboard packaging production in Ukraine in January-November 2018 fell by 0.4% and amounted to 932.49 million square meters.
The Rubizhne cardboard packaging mill has worked on the packaging market since 1991, and specializes in the production of components for corrugated cardboard (cardboard and fluting) and corrugated cardboard boxes.
Its most important customers are large confectioneries, juice and tobacco producers.
The Rubizhne cardboard packaging mill acquired Trypilsky packaging plant in 2002 and subsequently began producing corrugated cardboard and corrugated packaging.
Ukraine in 2018 threshed over 70 million tonnes of grain and hit a record over all years of the country’s independence, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Oleh Churiy has said.
“We have a record grain harvest in all years of our independence – over 70 million tonnes. If we take into account oilseeds, this is over 100 million tonnes,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday.
Currency income from agricultural products along with tough monetary and moderate fiscal policies was the key factors of strengthening of the national currency, he said.
Acting Agricultural Policy and Food Minister of Ukraine Maskym Martyniuk wrote on his Facebook page that in Ukraine the forecast for grain exports in 2018/19 agricultural year (July-June) was revised upwards from 42.5 million tonnes to over 45 million tonnes. Gradual exhausting of the agricultural infrastructure could hinder the implementation of the agriculture’s potential, he said.
Martyniuk said that the country has 170 markets where it sells agricultural products.
“In the past eight years Ukraine added 50 countries to the list of trade partners, losing one (but large one),” he said.
Yuliya Tymoshenko, leader of the All-Ukrainian Union Batkivschyna (Fatherland) party, has been on the top in presidential ratings in Ukraine, being followed by such candidates as showman Volodymyr Zelensky, the leader of the Civil Position party Anatoliy Hrytsenko, the leader of the Opposition Platform — For Life bloc Yuriy Boiko, and the incumbent president Petro Poroshenko. This has been established as a result of an all-Ukrainian opinion poll jointly conducted by the Ukrainian Oleksandr Yaremenko Institute for Social Research and the Social Monitoring Center from December 1 to 10, 2018.
Some 14.8% of those polled said they would vote for Tymoshenko in the upcoming presidential elections in Ukraine, which are due on March 31, 2019. The other candidates have the following ratings: 8.8% for Zelensky, 8.6% for Hrytsenko, 8.3% for Boyko, and 8.1% for Poroshenko. At the same time, 14.1% of those polled could not provide an answer and another 11.8% said they would not go to vote at all.
Among the respondents who have made up their mind and are going to cast their votes in the elections in March, 20% would vote for Tymoshenko, 11.9% would vote for Zelensky, 11.6% would vote for Hrytsenko, 11.1% would vote for Boiko, and 10.9% would vote for Poroshenko. Some 3.2% of those polled said they would vote for some other candidates.
A total of 2,198 people were polled in face-to-face interviews across Ukraine for the exception of the temporarily occupied territories. The sample standard deviation is not more than 2.1%.
The supervisory board of PJSC Ukrposhta at a first meeting held on December 14, 2018 elected Benoit Pleska (Belgium) head of the board. At the meeting the audit committee was created. Jakub Karnowski (Poland) was elected chair of the committee. Oksana Volchko was elected head of the committee for appointments and remuneration to managers of the company.
Oleksandr Ozeran headed the committee for digital transportation and Joona Saluveer (Estonia) headed the committee for postal logistics and parcels.
On October 10, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the supervisory board of PJSC Ukrposhta, consisting of five independent members and two representatives from the state.
Independent members are Pleska, Saluveer, Karnowski, Tommy Jensen (Denmark) and Volchko, while the representatives of the state are Ozeran (Director General of Directorate of State Policy in the sphere of digital infrastructure in transport and postal services of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Hyperloop Project Chief in Ukraine) and Yuriy Tustanovskyi (Head of the Executive Support Service of the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine).

TerraTarsa Ukraine LLC (Kherson region) has invested over $1 million in the launch of a first stage of the liquid mineral fertilizer plant in Kakhovka, Kherson region. According to a report of the Kherson Regional Administration, a production capacity of the first stage of the plant is 60,000 liters a day (3 million liters a year). The plant can store 100,000 liters of fertilizers. The production process is fully automated.
In addition, the company plans to open the second stage for production of crystalline fertilizers with a capacity of 15,000 tonnes a year. Currently, 75 people are working at the enterprise.

The volume of investments is $500,000. According to the unified public register of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs, the founder of TerraTarsa Ukraine is TerraTarsa B.V. (the Netherlands), and the ultimate beneficiary is Andriy Hoholev.
National energy company Ukrenergo and Moldelectrica have signed the operation agreement on the creation of a regulating unit as part of the power grids, which contains general technological aspects, provisions and technical conditions for ensuring synchronous operation of the Ukrainian and Moldovan power grids and fully meets the requirements and rules of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO- Е).
“The agreement regulates and ensures the synchronous operation of the power girds of Ukraine and Moldova, and in the future it will ensure the synchronous operation of the ENTSO-E power system of the continental Europe,” the company said, citing Ukrenergo’s Deputy CEO for Operational Management, Chief Dispatcher Vitaliy Zaichenko in the report.
According to him, the document approved all the required technological conditions in accordance with European rules and standards to regulate the frequency and power capacity within the power grids of Ukraine and Moldova.
Ukrenergo said that a procedure has also been developed for a quick amendment of the agreement required at the moment of the integration of power grids into ENTSO-E.
In addition, the parties agreed on a quarterly monitoring of the implementation of the agreement.
Ukrenergo operates trunk and interstate transmission lines, as well as centralized dispatching of the country’s integrated power grids. Ukrenergo is a state-owned enterprise under Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, but it will be transformed into a private joint-stock company soon.
