President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expects that Austrian companies will participate in tenders for the concession of Ukrainian seaports and the privatization of state-owned banks, and also invites them to introduce their experience, technologies and invest in large projects in Ukraine.
“I will be glad to welcome the participation of Austria in tenders for the concession of seaports and the privatization of state-owned banks in Ukraine,” he said at a joint briefing with Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen in Vienna on Tuesday.
Zelensky also said that as part of his visit, he would invite Austrian companies to introduce experience, technologies and investments in large projects in Ukraine: the construction of new highways, tunnels, ski infrastructure, energy, waste processing and many other areas.
In addition, he invited the Austrians to visit the tourist places of attraction of Ukraine and join the process of restoring cultural heritage sites.
The president said that Austria is the sixth largest investor in the Ukrainian economy. “Austrian capital is represented in our banking and insurance sector, woodworking industry, sports goods,” he said.

NPC Ukrenergo and Hungary’s power transmission system operator Mavir ZRt first signed an emergency power exchange agreement.
The press service of Ukrenergo reported that the agreement would allow the two operators to supply electricity to their areas of power supply and frequency regulation to prevent emergency or remove its consequences in power systems.
“The largest capacity of emergency assistance is up to 200 MW. The amount of emergency assistance can be increased to more than 200 MW by mutual agreement of the parties, if there are adequate technical capabilities, available reserves and available inter-zone capacity. The capacity for emergency assistance is not reserved in advance,” the company said.
The company said that agreements on emergency energy exchanges with neighboring countries are prescribed by ENTSO-E’s general rules to create additional reserve mechanisms to enhance the reliability of power systems during synchronous operation of the Burshtyn TPP Island and ENTSO-E.
As reported, in August 2019, Ukrenergo and Poland’s Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE) signed the emergency power exchange agreement.
The deficit of Ukraine’s foreign trade in goods in January-July 2020 decreased by 57.3% compared to January-July 2019, to $2.120 billion from $ 4.968 billion, the State Statistics Service has reported.
According to it, export of goods from Ukraine for the reporting period compared to the same period in 2019 decreased by 7.3%, to $ 26.630 billion, import by 14.7%, to $28.750 billion.
The State Statistics Service clarifies that in July compared to June 2020, the seasonally adjusted volume of exports rose by 3.6%, to $3.660 billion, imports by 2%, to $4.373 billion.
The seasonally adjusted foreign trade balance in July 2020 was also negative and amounted to $713.2 million, which is better than in the previous month ($751.2 million). The coefficient of coverage of import by export in January-July of this year amounted to 0.93 (in January-July 2019 some 0.85).
The State Statistics Service specified that foreign trade operations were carried out with partners from 221 countries of the world.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a working visit to Odesa region was informed on the implementation of the project of reconstruction and construction of the Odesa International Airport airfield complex, the president’s press office announced.
Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Krykliy noted that the new runway of Odesa airport is 2,800 meters in length and 45 meters in width. The new airfield will allow to accommodate airplanes in category D designated for mid- and long-duration flights, in particular, Boeing-747-400/800, in category III ICAO and other aircraft with a capacity up to 300 passengers. The overall cost of the aerodrome reconstruction project totals UAH 3.9 billion.
The minister added that the new runway will allow Odesa airport to receive more than 2 million passengers a year, a new taxi strip, when constructed, to receive more than 5 million.
Zelensky inquired if there was a passenger demand for the construction of a new airport strip.
“There is a demand, of course, because Odesa is a tourist city, it is developing. This year, the Travel Ukraine program was launched, and Odesa airport accepted too many passengers, even despite COVID-19 challenges we face today,” Krykliy said.
