According to the website of the President of Ukraine, a meeting with the new head of the ECHO Office in Ukraine was held at the Office of the President of Ukraine on Tuesday. The main topic of the meeting was the priorities of humanitarian response in winter.
In particular, Vereshchuk and Franco discussed the situation in the frontline and de-occupied communities and the basic humanitarian needs of the people living there. Vereshchuk also thanked the European Commission for its assistance. Representatives of the European Union assured that they would continue to support Ukraine.
The EEAS has been working in Ukraine since February 2014 and plays an important role in coordinating humanitarian issues. Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, EU countries have provided assistance worth almost 108 billion euros. Humanitarian support funded by the EU is channelled through UN agencies, NGOs and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
