Ukrainian enterprises increased their consumption of rolled metal products by 25.48% in January-November this year compared to the same period last year, to 3.759 million tons.
According to a press release from the Ukrmetallurgprom association, 1.49 million tons, or 39.63% of the domestic rolled metal consumption market, were imported during this period.
According to Ukrmetallurgprom, in the first 11 months of 2025, metal companies produced 5.966 million tons of rolled metal (103.92% compared to the same period in 2024), of which, according to the State Customs
Service of Ukraine, 3.697 million tons, or 60%, were exported. In January-November 2024, the share of exports was 67.6% (3.881 million tons out of a total production of 5.741 million tons of rolled metal products).
The share of semi-finished products in export deliveries in January-November 2025 is 33.62%, which is significantly lower than in the same period of 2024 (46.25%). The share of flat products in export deliveries for 11 months of 2025 significantly exceeds the figure a year ago: 44.31% and 39.04%, respectively. The share of long products is also significantly higher than in January-November 2024: 22.07% versus 14.71%.
The structure of imports in January-November 2025 continues to be characterized by the significant dominance of flat products over long products: 68.14% and 21.78%, respectively, compared to 78.87% and 19.52% in the same period a year ago.
“In the first 11 months of 2025, the domestic market capacity was 3.759 million tons of rolled metal, of which 1.490 million tons, or 39.63%, were imports. In January-November 2024, the domestic market capacity was 2,995,600 tons, of which 1,135,600 tons, or 37.91%, were imported. Thus, in January-November 2025, there was a 25.48% increase in the capacity of the domestic market compared to January-November 2024, with a simultaneous increase in the share of imports by 1.72%,” the press release states.
According to the State Customs Service, the main export markets for Ukrainian rolled metal products in the first 11 months of 2025 were the European Union (81.0%), other European countries (8.8%), and the CIS (5.5%).
Among metallurgical importers, other European countries ranked first in the first 11 months of 2025 (50.6%), followed by the EU-27 (22.3%) and Asian countries (21.6%).
As reported, Ukraine’s rolled metal market in 2024 shrank by 6.26% compared to the previous year, to 3 million 288.4 thousand tons, while in 2023 it increased 2.19 times compared to 2022, to 3 million 505.6 thousand tons.
