EXCLUSION ZONE AGENCY LEASE LAND PARCELS OF 5 HA IN CHORNOBYL ZONE TO TWO COMPANIES TO BUILD SOLAR POWER PLANTS

KYIV. July 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The State Agency for Managing the Exclusion Zone has leased land parcels of 3.4 ha and 1.7 ha to Ecosolar Invest LLC (Vinnytsia) and Solar Chornobyl (Kyiv) to build solar power plants on them, according to the materials posted on the government’s website.
The land parcels are leased for the period of 49 years.
Ecosolar Invest received a concrete car parking lot in Chornobyl, and Solar Chornobyl received a part of the concrete site near the second stage switchgear facility in Pripiat.
According to the state agency, Ecosolar Invest already operates one solar power plant in Ukraine with an installed capacity of 3 MW.
According to the public register, Ecosolar Invest belongs to Oleksandr Labensky and Batima Babich. The son of Babich – Dmytro – was previously a deputy of the Kyiv Regional Council (the faction of the Party of Regions). He headed the Environmental Protection Administration in Vinnytsia region.
The only beneficiary of Solar Chornobyl, according to the public register, is Yevhen Variahin, a former solar project manager for Activ Solar (controlled by the Kliuyev brothers).
The State Agency for Managing the Exclusion Zone said that Solar Chornobyl is a joint project of the Enerparc AG and Rodina Energy Group consortium.
