KYIV. July 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Representatives of the Austrian company Doppelmayr, interested in the possibility of building a cable car circuit in the central part of the city, which according to the plans of the authorities will connect the key tourist sites, have visited Kyiv this week, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has said.
“This week representatives of Doppelmayr, which is the world leader in construction of cable car route have arrived in Kyiv. The fact that the top management comes and shows interest in the project is a very good signal. I am confident next spring we will be able to talk about the construction of a cable way,” he said.
In addition, the mayor said the city authorities plan to update the Kyiv funicular.
“I want to remind you that last year the funicular transported more than one million passengers. We plan to make both spacious cars and air conditioning in them. The funicular will not only be transport but also one of the attractions that many people and visitors will enjoy,” he said.
The mayor noted foreign investors are interested in investing in Ukraine and Kyiv in particular.
