Nestlé to invest almost UAH 10 bln in Ukraine in 2025

In 2025, Nestlé intends to invest UAH 8 billion in commercial activities in Ukraine, in particular, in the promotion of goods in retail chains, as well as UAH 1.5 billion in the modernization of factories to improve products, said Alessandro Zanelli, CEO of the company in Ukraine and South-Eastern Europe.

“The consumer goods category will continue to grow until 2025. But in 2025, everyone will feel a lot of pressure on margins. You can’t put everything on consumers alone, because inflation is already high in the country. We will have to work hard to create the right narrative about our business model,” he said at the ‘Global Outlook Enduring Change!’ organized by the European Business Association.

Zanelli advised entrepreneurs to identify the driving forces of their business, understand what creates consumer power and work to improve efficiency.

Speaking about Nestlé in Ukraine, he noted that the company intends to increase its presence in Ukraine in 2025, for which it plans to invest about UAH 8 billion in commercial activities, in particular, in the promotion of consumer goods in retail chains. In addition, about UAH 1.5 billion will be invested in improving the condition of the company’s plants.

The CEO of Nestlé in Ukraine added that the company has been delaying the launch of a new plant in Volyn region for six months due to constant air hazards, lack of builders and labor, but intends to launch in March 2025.
Nestlé’s business in Ukraine is represented by the following areas: coffee and beverages, confectionery, cooking (cold sauces, condiments, soups, convenience foods), baby and specialty foods, breakfast cereals, and pet food.

“ElectronMash” modernized 10 trolleybuses for Lviv with autonomous range of 15 km

The ElectronMash plant, part of the Electron concern (Lviv), has modernized 10 previously produced trolleybuses for Lviv by equipping them with autonomous power systems that allow them to travel 15 km on autonomous power, the concern reported on its Facebook page.

According to the press service, the trolleybuses were re-equipped as part of the project “Modernization of Public Trolleybus Transport in Lviv”, which is funded by loans from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The project cost is EUR900 thousand, or EUR90 thousand per unit.

“Taking into account the first test model, there are currently 11 cars running in the city,” the press service clarifies.

At the same time, refuting some accusations that the modernization is too expensive and the autonomous range of the trolleybuses is too short, the press service of the concern compares the price of 1 km of a newly built trolleybus line in the city – EUR859.6 thousand, which is almost the price of all 10 modernized trolleybuses.

As for the 15 km of autonomous range, the report clarifies that this is the minimum specified by the customer for an annual mileage of 60 thousand km at full load and with climate control on and is designed for a battery life of at least 10 years.

“Even the first test model had an autonomous mileage of more than the optimal 20 km for the city, and the 10 converted trolleybuses have newer and more powerful batteries and modern monitoring and control systems,” the statement said.

In addition, the press service notes, the economic effect of using trolleybuses with high-voltage batteries is 6.6 times higher than their cost.

According to the concern, with a sufficient number of such autonomous rolling stock, even with the existing contact network, trolleybus service can cover more than 70% of Lviv’s territory, and other settlements of the Lviv community will also be within the accessibility zone of such trolleybus routes.

“Therefore, we believe that the decision of Lvivelectrotrans is balanced and economically justified,” the concern’s press service summarizes.

KAMETSTAL expands its range of rebar to supply Polish market

Metinvest Group’s Kametstal plant, which was built at the facilities of Dnipro Metallurgical Plant (DMK, Kamenskoye, Dnipro region), is expanding its rolled products range to supply the European market, in particular Polish consumers.

According to a press release, in January this year, Kametstal’s rollers successfully mastered the production of a line of rebar according to another Polish standard, B500SP.

It is specified that last year, following successful certification for compliance with Polish building codes, the company launched mass production of B500B rebar with a diameter of 8-32 mm for Polish consumers. And from now on, rebar in accordance with the B500SP standard will also be shipped to the Polish market. The specific requirements of this standard are not limited to geometric dimensions, weight per linear meter and mechanical testing. The development and production of such products requires changes in the gauge pattern, the angle of the rebar ribs, and other labeling requirements.

“A team of specialist technologists from the rolling shop, rolling mill, calibration bureau and process department joined forces to accomplish this important task. They developed technical solutions for the optimal production technology, calibration tables, rolling patterns, calibrated rolls, etc. The developed parameters were added to the software of the CNC machines used to prepare the rolls,” the press release states.

It is also noted that in January, the 400/200 rolling mill mastered the production of five B500SP rolled sections – rebar with a nominal cross section of 10, 12, 16, 20 and 32 mm. In February, the rollers will continue to expand their product line for the Polish market, with rebar with a cross section of 8, 14 and 28 mm planned for production.

“Kametstal was established on the basis of Dnipro Coke and Chemical Plant (DKKhZ) and Centralized Steel Works (DMK).

According to the 2020 report of Metinvest Group’s parent company, Metinvest B.V. (Netherlands) owned 100% of the shares in DCCP.
