The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has provided a four-year loan of EUR7.5 million to Bank Lviv for lending to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) under the EU4Business program, Anton Usov, the EBRD senior adviser on external affairs, has said.
“Small and medium-sized enterprises in western Ukraine will benefit from a new loan of up to EUR7.5 million to Bank Lviv provided under the EBRD EU4Business credit line. The loan will be available for disbursement in the Ukrainian hryvnia, which will protect Bank Lviv’s borrowers from foreign currency-related risks, and offer long maturities,” the EBRD noted.
“The funds are provided in the context of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) between the European Union (EU) and Ukraine. EU grants will be offered as investment incentives to eligible enterprises to reduce the cost of their capital expenditure on upgrades of technology and production processes to comply with EU standards and regulations,” it said on its website.
Bank Lviv is a regional bank providing banking services to SMEs and private clients across western Ukraine. It is well established in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lutsk, Rivne, Ternopil and Uzhgorod regions, as well as Kyiv.
The EBRD is a leading institutional investor in Ukraine and to date has committed more than EUR14.54 billion in over 460 projects to the country.
The number of Green Card international insurance contracts signed by the member companies of the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine (MTIBU) increased by 21.72% in January-February 2020 compared to the same period in 2019, to more than 59,536.
According to the MTIBU’s website, the amount of accrued insurance premiums for the indicated period decreased by 10.93% compared to the same period last year, to UAH 271 million.
At the same time, the amount of compensation paid on claims increased by 2.1 times, to EUR 2.704 million, while the number of claims paid by 87.7%, to 1,115.
The MTIBU is the only association of insurers that carry out compulsory insurance of vehicle owners’ civil liability for harm caused to third parties.
UNIQA Insurance Company (Kyiv) in 2019 increased its net worth by 23%, to UAH 529.741 million, according to a draft decision of the company’s shareholders for a meeting scheduled for April 23.
According to the document, the company’s assets in 2019 decreased by 22.7%, to UAH 2.432 billion.
The draft decision states that the company last year posted a net profit of UAH 89 million, which is 3.5 times more than in 2018. Retained earnings for the year amounted to UAH 326.8 million. which is 34.9% more.
The charter capital has not changed and amounted to UAH 155.48 million.
Total debtor indebtedness decreased by 3.9 times, to UAH 282.7 billion, cash and cash equivalents by 2.9 times, to UAH 30.4 million.
Long-term liabilities decreased by 10%, to UAH 1.6 billion, current liabilities by 3.8 times, to UAH 300.1 million.

Solvent banks in Ukraine in January-February 2020 received UAH 15.9 billion in net profit, which is 1.8 times more than in the same period in 2019 (UAH 8.7 billion), according to data published on the website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
According to the report, the income of the banks in the first two months of this year increased by 17.7% against the figure for the same period last year, to UAH 46.2 billion. In particular, commission income rose by 16.5%, to UAH 10.7 billion, the figure from revaluation, sale and purchase transactions grew by 3.6 times, to UAH 7.9 billion.
At the same time, the banking system’s expenses for January-February 2020 decreased by 1% compared to last year’s indicator, to UAH 30.3 billion, in particular, payments to reserves decreased by 2.3 times, to UAH 1.3 billion, while commission expenses increased by 36%, to UAH 3.7 billion.
PrJSC DHL International Ukraine (DHL Ukraine, Kyiv), according to preliminary data, earned a net profit of UAH 17.434 million in 2019, which is 29.14% less than in 2018. According to the agenda of a general meeting of shareholders scheduled for April 30 in the Netherlands, its assets as of January 31, 2019 amounted to UAH 189.419 million, which is 11.1% more than on the same date in 2018.
The total receivables for the reporting period increased by 9.9%, to UAH 69.62 million, retained earnings increased by 16.26%, to UAH 124.67 million, net worth increased by 14.9%, to UAH 134.368 million, the charter capital was unchanged and amounted to UAH 9.698 million.
The number of company employees increased by 7.7%, from 352 to 380 people for the year.
