JUDGES REJECT THEMSELVES FROM TIU CANADA’S ILLEGAL DISCONNECTION CASE AGAINST NIKOPOL FERROALLOY PLANT

Judges of the Pivdenny Economic Court of Appeal Vitaliy Korsak, Olha Popikova and Oleksiy Yevsikov, appointed to consider the case on the illegal disconnection of the solar power plant of Nikopol Ekoteknik (TIU Canada) by of the Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant, rejected themselves, the Canadian company said in a press release.
As TIU Canada recalled, the company had previously filed a motion to dismiss Korsak, Popikova and Yevsikov from the hearing the case “because of warnings about the connection between the latter and oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky, who is included in the list of persons subject to U.S. government sanctions.”
Although the lawyers’ claim was not satisfied, the judges voluntarily announced their withdrawal from the case. This means that other judges will be appointed and a new date for the hearing will be scheduled, the company said in the press release.
Today, the company got a small victory in a big war. TIU Canada will continue its fight for justice in accordance with the law, TIU Canada President Michael Yurkovich said.

UKRAINE TAKES FIFTH PLACE IN EUROVISION SONG CONTEST

The Italian group Måneskin has won in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam with 524 votes.
The Ukrainian band Go_A with the song Shum took the fifth place with 364 votes.
The top three also included representative of France Barbara Pravi with the song Voilà, which received 499 votes, and representative of Switzerland, Gjon’s Tears, with the song Tout l’Univers, who scored 432 points.

EUROPEAN COMMISSION GIVES EUR 50 MLN IN GRANTS TO UKRAINIAN FARMERS

The European Commission has provided EUR 50 million in grants to support Ukrainian farmers for two years, Deputy Director-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement of the European Commission Katarína Mathernová has said.
She said at the Ukraine 30 Land forum on Monday that the European Commission has allocated EUR 50 million in grants, which will be distributed during two years, to support small farmers to help them acquire land.

UKRAINIAN CULTURE MINISTRY ANNOUNCES 22 PROJECTS TO BE IMPLEMENTED UNDER BIG RESTORATION PROGRAM

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine has announced a list of 22 projects for the restoration, conservation, and repair of cultural heritage monuments, which will be implemented in 2021 as part of the Big Restoration project.
“Our cultural heritage is gradually deteriorating and cannot wait forever. There is no time to hesitate and drag out the process. This year, thanks to the Big Restoration, work will be carried out on 22 sites. I am sure this will allow them to attract the attention of even more tourists and become points of attraction, contributing to the economic recovery of the respective city or region,” the press service of the ministry quotes the Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko.
It is reported that the approved list of projects will be primarily implemented as part of the Big Restoration project in 2021.
Among other things, it includes architectural monuments: the National Reserve Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the National Reserve Ancient Halych, the State Historical and Architectural Reserve Khotynska Fortress, the National Reserve Sophia Kyivska, the National Reserve Castles of Ternopil, the National Historical cultural reserve Kachanivka and the National Art Museum of Ukraine.
