Solar-Farm 1 LLC in the middle of January 2019 launched the largest solar power plant in Ukraine with a capacity of 246 MW in Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk region. The National Commission for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation (NCER) on February 15, 2019 approved the draft resolution on setting the feed-in tariff for Nikopol solar power plant in the amount of EUR 15.03 per MW until 2030.
It is planned that Nikopol solar power plant will generate up to 290 million kWh of electricity a year. This is the largest solar power plant in Ukraine and Europe.
Solar-Farm 1 LLC belongs to DTEK Renewables B.V., operating the assets of DTEK Group in the sphere of renewable energy. As reported, the contractor of the plant is China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC). Trina Solar Limited delivered solar cell arrays for the plant.
In March, the plant will be connected to the power grid. The plant will be able to fully meet the needs of 100,000 households in Ukraine and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 300,000 tonnes per year.
To ensure the connection of the solar power plant in Nikopol (Solar-1 LLC), national energy company Ukrenergo plans to reconstruct the open-type 150 kV switchgear of 330 kV Nikopol substation, with an expected tender price of up to UAH 20.833 million.
In 2017, DTEK launched its first Tryfonivka solar power plant with a capacity of 10 MW in Kherson region. DTEK was established in 2005 to manage the energy assets of Rinat Akhmetov’s System Capital Management Group (SCM, Donetsk). The corporation performs functions of strategic management of the group’s enterprises, which constitute a vertically integrated chain of coal production and washing, production and sale of electricity.

The total volume of transportation by rail by Lemtrans in 2018 reached 52.12 million tonnes of different types of cargo, which is 0.43% more than in 2017.
The press service of the company reported that coal and iron ore were the major cargo transported by the company last year.
“The largest growth in the year was in transportation of coal. In particular, the volume of its transportation amounted to 21.24 million tonnes, for iron ore it was 16.13 million tonnes. By the end of 2017, the transportation of these types of cargo amounted to 19.35 million tonnes and 19, 30 million tonnes, respectively,” the company said.
In addition, in 2018, the volume of loading of ferrous metals increased by 21.7%, to 7.45 million tonnes (6.12 million tonnes in 2017) and of coke by 2.43%, to 3.02 million tonnes (2.95 million tonnes). Transportation volumes of fluxes amounted to 3.30 million tonnes (3.50 million tonnes).
During the year, the volume of planned repair of freight wagons of the company at production sites amounted to 6,453 units.
Lemtrans is the largest private operator of railway rolling stock in Ukraine. Its core business is organization of transportation by own rolling stock, rendering transport and forwarding services, information support for cargo movement, as well as rolling stock repairs.

National Nuclear Generating Company Energoatom increased power generation by 11.7% year-on-year in January 2019, to 8.111 billion kWh, the company has said.
The electricity generation target was met by 100%.
Electricity sales totaled 7.661 billion kWh compared to 6.842 billion kWh in January 2018. Energoatom’s share of total electricity sold to Energomarket state enterprise was 53%, and the share of total electricity generation in the country was 52%.
The company sold electricity worth UAH 5.279 billion (including VAT) on the wholesale power market, which is 17.7% more than in January 2018.
Capital investment totaled UAH 363.8 million compared with UAH 514.7 million in January 2018.
The company sent UAH 557.2 million to the budgets of all levels and insurance payments came to UAH 141.7 million.
Capacity use was 78.6%, which was 8.3 p.p. more than a year previously.
Two malfunctions were recorded at Ukrainian nuclear power plants in the reporting period, two less than a year ago. Radiation levels at Ukrainian NPPs were normal over the period.
Energoatom is the operator of all four Ukrainian-based operating nuclear power plants, which have 15 VVER reactors with an overall generating capacity of 13.835 gigawatts.
The company also operates the Tashlyk hydroelectric pumped storage power plant with a 302 MW capacity in a turbine mode and Oleksandrivka hydropower plant with an 11.5 MW capacity.
