MASS HORSE BATTLES WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE KYIV REGION

On August, 7 and 8 in Ancient Kyiv in the Principality of Kyivan Rus («Kyivan Rus Park») a horse and historical festival «Bylinas of Ancient Kyiv» will take place. A rich program with the performances on the ancient bylinas` theme, horse-trick shows, the performances on ancient martial arts, mass horse attacks, colorful medieval amusements, master-classes, dishes, prepared on fire, horse riding and a lot of interesting things from the life of Kyivan Rus will be waiting for the guests.
On August, 7 and 8 the program will start around 13:30 with the solemn opening with the participation of historical characters, the parade of the princely flags and the impressive appearance of the horse druzhina.
After this on the big tilting yard of Ancient Kyiv ancient Slavic bylinas, telling in a bright form about the life of our ancestors, will come to life in front of the guests. In spectacular stagings the visitors of the festival will see plenty of stories from the history of Kyivan Rus, will deepen their knowledge about the pre-Christian epoch of our land and will learn about the legendary historical persons, who played fateful roles in the development of our country.
The guests will also see the reconstructions of medieval horse battles with the use of medieval weapon. Experienced actors-stuntmen will amaze the viewers with spectacular tricks on a horseback and the medieval weapon possession: bow, swords, spears. Also the guests will see horse cavalcades, fire effects, cavalry gatherings and graceful horse rides.
Several tens of horses of rare ancient breeds, collected from all over the world in the Princely stable, will take part in the performances. Some of them can be found nowhere else in Ukraine, because they were brought to Ukraine in a single number. Everyone will be able to walk up to these beautiful animals, palm them, take photos with, ride them on a horseback or in a carriage.
On Saturday, August 7, from 20:00 on the Dytynetz of Ancient Kyiv, the guests will be awaited by an enchanting night program with fire special effects and shooting fire balls from the trebuchet – the only huge functioning siege weapon in Ukraine.
The guests will feel themselves as not just spectators, but will be able to plunge into the life of a medieval city. Adults and children will be invited to take part in ancient amusements, round dances, dance flash mobs and master-classes.
It will also be possible to shoot a bow, mint a coin «for luck», dress into the costumes of the Kyivan Rus times, visit museums and expositions on the territory. By visiting the soothsayer-fortune teller over a cup of herbal tea, you can obtain the ancient secret knowledge. The fans of extreme sports will be pleased with the «Zmiy Gorynych» speed slide and the «Politaylo» rope descent. In medieval shops you can choose original handmade souvenirs for memory.
In the Medieval cuisine you can taste delicious drinks and dishes prepared on bonfires, both according to ancient and modern recipes.
If you want to extend your journey into the Middle Ages for one more day, you can stay for the night in comfortable rooms (by previous booking).

The visit to Ancient Kyiv is subject to the requirements of the quarantine regime.
Ancient Kyiv opens at 10:00, the program starts at 13:30. The end of the program: on Saturday, August, 7, at 21:00; on Sunday, August, 8 – at 19:00.
