PJSC SIC Borshchahivskiy Chemical Pharmaceutical Plant (BCPP, Kyiv) may obtain a license to produce baby food and dietary food products.
As the company reported in the information disclosure system of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission (NSSMC), the issue of obtaining such licenses at the initiative of shareholder Aletber Limited (Cyprus) is on the agenda of the shareholders’ meeting to be held on April 30.
By the end of 2023, BCPP increased production by 17.6% compared to 2022 to almost UAH 1.866 billion, but in physical terms it decreased by 3.3% to 34.8 million packs. At the same time, 40.3 million packs were sold last year, which is 7.8% less than in 2022, while total sales increased by 16.5% to UAH 1.806 billion.
In 2023, BCPP’s net profit increased by 3.38% compared to 2022 to UAH 262.863 million.
As of the first quarter of 2023, 31.8% of BCPP shares were owned by the pharmaceutical company Pharmaceutical Firm “Darnitsa” (Kyiv).
According to the Opendatabot system, the ultimate beneficiaries of BCPP are also the beneficiary of the pharmaceutical company “Darnitsa” Hlib Zagoriy, Yevhen Sova and Tetiana Artemenko.
The Verkhovna Rada intends to prohibit the use of hydrogenated palm oil in the production of food products, mostly consumed by children, to regulate the use of trans fatty acids in them, as well as to establish labeling requirements for foods containing palm oil and fines for their sale. Corresponding bill No. 5148 on amendments to certain laws of Ukraine concerning improving the quality of food products eaten by children was supported at first reading by 304 MPs with the required 226 votes.
According to an explanatory note to the document, it is proposed to ban the use of palm oil in traditional dairy products, as well as hydrogenated palm oil and other hydrogenated vegetable fats in baby food and confectionery.
In addition, the bill prohibits the production and circulation of food products in which the content of trans fatty acids exceeds 2 grams per 100 grams of the total amount of fat in the food product.
The explanatory note states that the sale of food products containing the above substances and ingredients entails the imposition of a fine on legal entities in the amount of 40 minimum wages (currently the minimum wage is UAH 6,000), on individual entrepreneurs – in the amount of 25 minimum wages.
The document also establishes the labeling of products containing palm oil, which, if the bill enters into force, will have to be marked with the easily visible phrase “Contains palm oil” next to the name of the product.
PrJSC Wimm-Bill-Dann Ukraine (Vyshneve, Kyiv region), producer of dairy products and baby food, in 2020 increased its net profit by 29.8% compared to 2019, to UAH 124.19 million.
According to the company’s information disclosure system of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission, the total assets of the company last year decreased by 1.1%, to UAH 1.25 billion, and retained earnings doubled to UAH 278.8 million.
An annual meeting of the company’s shareholders is scheduled for April 29, at which they intend to approve decisions on attracting PrJSC KPMG Audit to conduct an audit on the financial results of 2020, and direct the net profit received in 2020 to the development of production.
In 2001, Wimm-Bill-Dann Ukraine Ukraine acquired one of the largest milk processing enterprises in the country – Kyiv Dairy Plant No. 3, and in December 2010 the company became part of PepsiСo.
PepsiCo in Ukraine deals with fruits, vegetables and raw milk processing. The company owns three enterprises, namely: a plant for fruits and vegetables processing and juice production, a factory for plant for juices, carbonated beverages and cold tea production (both are located in Mykolaiv region), Kyiv Dairy Plant (Kyiv region), where the baby food factory Agusha, launched in 2012, is also located.
The largest PepsiCo brands in Ukraine are Sandora, Sadochok, Pepsi, 7UP, Mirinda, Slovianochka, Agusha, Lipton Ice Tea, Lay’s, HrusTeam, sparkling mineral water Essentuki and Aqua Minerale.
Gadz Farm (Ternopil region) intends to start production of juice, puree, jam, marmalade and baby food in 2019.
“This year we plan to sign an agreement on cooperation with foreign companies that produce equipment for processing fruits and vegetables. Next year we intend to launch production of juice, puree, jam and marmalade at full capacity. In addition, we will develop production of baby food for different age groups, depending on the needs of children,” the report said.
Currently, the leadership of Gadz is negotiating with the representatives of the Italian companies FME and Navatta Group on the supply of new special equipment and the selection of packaging technologies for products.
Gadz farm was established in 2011. It specializes in cultivation of fruits and berries, the sale of seedlings. It has more than 600 hectares of orchards (apples, pears, plums). In future it plans to expand the garden area to 2,500 hectares.
