As a result of a thunderstorm with heavy rain and wind up to 25 m/s on the morning of June 12 in the Kiev region 36 lines and 611 transformer substations are de-energized, according to the website of the Kiev regional military administration on Wednesday morning.
“A thunderstorm front has hit all regions of the Kiev region….. Specialists are already eliminating the consequences of bad weather. The task is to restore as quickly as possible the work of all lines of the highest voltage – 10 kV and go to the applications of customers on the networks of the lower voltage class 0.4 kV to return light to all homes. Strong wind with rain makes it difficult to work, which may provoke new accidents in the networks”, – stated in the message.
At the same time, the regional administration reminds that on June 12, the restriction of electricity consumption in the Kiev region will be in effect from 15:00 to 23:00.
Due to unfavorable weather conditions, 306,000 consumers were without power on Saturday morning, the Energy Ministry reported.
According to its release, a total of 1,045 settlements in 14 regions – Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnipropetrovs’k, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Lviv, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Chernivtsi, and Chernihiv – were without power.
According to the ministry, most of the consumers in Khmelnytsky region were cut off from power in 400 settlements.
Also, the 750 kV interconnection line with Hungary and 750 kV overhead power lines were out of service in the region.
“Restoration work is underway,” the Ministry of Energy said.
For its part, DTEK energy holding reported that its electricity distribution system operators in Kyiv, Kyiv and Donetsk regions have been switched to an enhanced mode since the night before due to the bad weather.
As reported with reference to DTEK Kyiv Regional Electricity Networks, in Kyiv region, as a result of bad weather, there were emergency power outages, almost 89 thousand families are left without electricity, most of them in Obukhiv, Fastiv and Bucha districts.
Significant consumer outages are taking place in eight regions in western and southern Ukraine as a result of bad weather (stormy wind and snow and rain), which caused damage to distribution system operators’ (DSO) networks, the NEC Ukrenergo said.
According to its update in the Telegram channel, these are the Volyn, Lviv, Zakarpattya, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Chernivtsi and Odessa regions.
The company noted that repair teams of distribution system operators (DSOs) are working to repair the damage and restore power supply.
In addition, consumption restrictions are applied in Zhytomyr region due to significant damage to the networks as a result of repeated attacks of the Russians. The situation with power supply along the front line also remains difficult, where, in particular, on Monday, Russian shelling damaged the OSR networks in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
In general, the power system due to lower temperatures consumption is slightly higher than on Monday, nevertheless, the production of electricity is enough to cover it, confirmed the NEC.
Also, Ukrenergo reported the completion of Tuesday’s emergency work and the connection of 5 pieces of critical equipment at various sites on its backbone networks.
“This allowed to eliminate some grid limitations and increase the reliability of power supply in certain regions,” the NEC said in a statement.
At the same time, the company noted that such work in peacetime would have involved the reconstruction of several substations and would have lasted several months. The company thanked its Lithuanian colleagues for providing part of the equipment for the restoration.
As previously reported, the Ministry of Energy also reported about power outages on Tuesday due to bad weather in the western regions of the country.
