An Israeli investor plans to construct a hospital in Kyiv region, Head of Boryspil Regional State Administration Ruslan Diachenko said.
“We hope that next year the project implementation in the health sector will start, it will be a high-tech hospital. Now we are looking for a land plot or premises,” he told Interfax-Ukraine on during the opening of the FM Logistic new warehouses in Dudarkiv village (Boryspil district of Kyiv region) on Friday.
According to Diachenko, the area of the required site for the future hospital should be 1,500 hectares or more. In addition, two independent power grids will be required.
The planned amount of investment in the project has not yet been disclosed.
According to Diachenko, over the years of independence, some $154 million has been invested in Boryspil region.
A plane from Afghanistan, sent to evacuate Ukrainian citizens and their families, has landed at the Boryspil international airport, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports.
“Ukraine does not leave its citizens alone, no matter where they are,” said Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Malyar when meeting the plane at the airport.
There are 96 people on board, including citizens of Ukraine, as well as persons with a permanent residence permit in Ukraine, members of their families, persons whose return was requested by the Vatican and Canada.
Malyar noted that Ukraine will continue to provide assistance to its citizens and citizens of other countries in the future.
Boryspil International Airport (Kyiv) in January-July 2021 served 4.565 million passengers, which is 60% more compared to the same period in 2020 (2.848 million).
At the same time, according to the airport’s data provided to the Interfax-Ukraine agency, in July it served 1.168 million passengers, which is 3.5 times more than in July 2020, of which 735,640 people were on regular flights, 432,354 people – on non-scheduled flights.
In July, the airport accepted and dispatched 8,635 flights, which is 2.5 times more than in July 2020.
In addition, over the seven months of 2021, Boryspil airport served 2.512 million passengers on regular flights (an increase of 22%) and 2.053 million on non-scheduled flights (an increase of 2.6 times).
In total, for this period of 2021, the airport accepted and sent 37,899 flights, which is 49.4% more than in the same period in 2020.
At the same time, the number of transfer passengers for the seven months of this year decreased by 60%, to 156,812 people (for the same period last year, this figure was 392,346 people).
The share of transfers in the total passenger traffic in January-July 2021 decreased from 13.8% to 3.4%.
Boryspil International Airport (Kyiv) in January-June 2021 served 3.397 million passengers, which is 35% more compared to the same period in 2020 (2.519 million).
At the same time, according to the airport’s report, in June it served 938,674 passengers, which is almost 19.4 times more than in June 2020 (lockdown), of which 523,355 people were serviced on regular flights, 415,319 people – on non-scheduled flights.
In June, the airport received and dispatched 7,357 flights, which is six times more than in June 2020.
In addition, in the six months of 2021, Boryspil airport served 1.776 million passengers on regular flights (a 6% decrease) and 1.621 million on non-scheduled flights (an increase of 2.57 times).
In total, in the first half of 2021, the airport received and dispatched 29,264 flights, which is 33.7% more than in the same period in 2020.
At the same time, the number of transfer passengers for the six months of this year decreased by 72.3%, to 107,998 people (for the same period last year, this figure was 389,200 people).
The share of transfers in the total passenger traffic in January-June 2021 decreased from 15.5% to 3.2%.
Boryspil International Airport (Kyiv) in May 2021 posted a profit of UAH 40 million, the press service of the airport reported, with reference to head of the supervisory board Volodymyr Zhmak.
“The return of Boryspil airport to profitability is a positive signal for the entire industry. The implementation of the airport’s anti-crisis program ensured cost reductions while increasing revenues, therefore, returned the airport to the level of profitability,” Zhmak said.
He added that the airport is actively working to attract new air carriers.
“Those airlines that operated at the airport before the crisis continue to fly and increase the number of flights. Moreover, new airlines are coming to us in 2021. In particular, Cyprus Airways began regular flights in May, and in June Flynas low cost airline operated its first flight from Saudi Arabia, we expect Eurowings, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi and several other new carriers,” he added.

And the latest results confirm that the path we have chosen is correct. According to the ACI Europe report, which included 341 busiest airports in Europe, we are ahead of a number of powerful airports. Including the airports of Vienna, Rome, Lisbon, Athens, Munich, Barcelona, Brussels, Stockholm, Zurich, Milan and Warsaw. Over the four months [in terms of passenger traffic] in 2021, Boryspil airport climbed to 14th place in Europe and entered the top 15 for the first time in history,” the press service of the enterprise said, citing Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Boryspil International Airport Volodymyr Zhmak.
At the same time, he said that such a result became possible thanks to the well-coordinated work of all divisions of the airport to develop the aviation network and restore passenger traffic. As of May 2021, Boryspil airport has already resumed 60% of flights compared to 2019, while the Eurocontrol (European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation) member states have resumed only 39%, Zhmak said.
“Boryspil airport is recovering 1.5 times faster. Now we expect a full-fledged restoration of air communication with the EU countries for active growth of passenger traffic,” he said.
