Ukrposhta plans to launch parcel delivery agent points in cafes, shops, and other service locations at the end of the first quarter of 2026, the company’s CEO Ihor Smelyansky told Interfax-Ukraine.
“They sign a contract with us for parcel delivery, and we pay them for each delivery. In other words, this does not entail any capital expenditures or expensive repairs. After all, the most effective thing is to quickly expand the network so that it is convenient and profitable for our customers to receive parcels,” Smelyansky explained.
The CEO of Ukrposhta added that the project is currently in the testing phase, and residents of Kyiv can already receive parcels at nine pilot locations.
“Of course, we will monitor the quality to ensure that the quality of parcel delivery is maintained and that all the rules that must be followed are followed. And we will continue to attract new partners,” Smelyansky emphasized.
Separately, the company plans to install about 1,000 parcel machines in early 2026, as well as update its mobile app, which will allow customers to manage their parcels in a way that is convenient for them, including redirecting shipments to other branches or parcel machines.
Earlier, in a comment to the agency, Ukrposhta reported that in 2026 it plans a large-scale modernization of its network of branches throughout the country.
Currently, the company has more than 6,000 branches and 26,000 service points throughout Ukraine.
In the fourth quarter of 2025, Ukrposhta received a net profit of UAH 257.9 million, which is 69.2% more than in the same period in 2024, due to additional income from the sale of the company’s property, which amounted to UAH 168 million.
The national postal operator increased its revenue in the fourth quarter by UAH 10.7 million compared to the same period in 2024, to UAH 3 billion 601.6 million.
Alla Teliga, co-founder of Galya Baluwana and Wesola Pani chains, is launching a new franchise of a family cafe specializing in chebureks, Tsiberek, according to the Ukrainian Council of Shopping Centers.
According to the release, the first restaurant under the brand will be opened in Lutsk (2 Vynnychenka Street), scheduled to open in October. The menu was developed by Alla Teliga, the author of all recipes of the Galya Baluvana chain, and the famous chef Vladyslav Tsymbalyuk. The next step is to launch franchise sales.
Galya Baluvana was founded in 2019 in Lutsk. As of August 2024, Galya Baluwana had more than 950 stores and 172 franchisees. Since 2023, the company has stopped adding new partners to the Galya Baluwana joint network, and only franchisees who were previously included can open new outlets.
According to Opendatabot, Volodymyr Matviychuk and Oleksandr Teliga are the owners of the chain’s developer, Gostuyemo po domashnomu LLC (Lutsk). According to the company’s financial statements for 2022, its net profit for the year increased 3.5 times and amounted to UAH 14.9 million.
As reported, in January 2024, the Ukrainian chain of convenience stores Galya Baluwana opened its first store in Philadelphia (USA) under the MultiCook brand (developed by Volodymyr Matviychuk).
The Wesoła Pani chain of convenience food stores from the Ukrainian company Galya Baluwana (developed by Alla and Oleksiy Telig) is already represented by 140 outlets in three European countries (Poland, Latvia, and the Netherlands). Plans were announced to expand the chain in Poland to 500 stores.
In January-May 2023 in Kiev opened 172 cafes and restaurants, since the beginning of the war – about 350 institutions, said the agency “Interfax-Ukraine” co-founder of the National Restaurant Association of Ukraine Olga Nasonova.
“About 60% of Kiev’s openings are small-format establishments: coffee shops, bakeries, shawarma places, something in MAFs, something indoors. The area of up to 100 square meters. m. Microbusiness, but if it is a lot – it is power. Very few big restaurants were opened, more often it was a rebranding of existing locations,” she specified, adding that there were practically no pubs among the openings.
“Bars have reared their heads a bit, but restrictions on operating until 10 p.m. greatly reduce their profitability,” Nasonova noted.
For the popularity of establishments, the issue of safety is at the top of the list. This explains the best performance of pubs and bars in basements, as well as the geography of new openings. Activity of food zones in shopping malls is gradually recovering. The most “restaurant” zones of the city are Podol and Yarostavov Val Street, the activity is higher in the areas of old buildings than in new residential complexes.
“There are up to 50% of residents left in elite residential complexes, and the old residential areas are full of people, including because there is more affordable rental housing for people who moved there,” – the expert explained.
As for prospective formats, in the near future, demand will also focus on mini-formats. “Investment in the launch of a coffee shop with an area up to 50 sq. m. – from $10 to $30 thousand. The rush demand – in locations with good traffic”, – said Nasonova.
Created in 2021, the National Restaurant Association of Ukraine in July 2022 had more than 100 members, 370 restaurants and cafes, under management – 164 thousand square meters. m.
