Exit and entry movement for vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tons without cargo will be opened from February 13 at the planned “Nijankovychi-Malhovice” checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border, the Western Regional Department of the State Border Service reports on Facebook.
“From 8 a.m. on February 13 … will begin the implementation of the passage operations of cargo vehicles with a maximum weight of more than 7.5 tons, without cargo. The passage of trucks will be carried out around the clock in the direction of departure from Ukraine and on the entrance”, – said the officer of the press service of the Lviv border detachment Oleksandra Kuchkovskaya.
The new checkpoint is expected to unload the existing checkpoints on the border with Poland and speed up cargo and passenger logistics at the border. The point also provides for the movement of cars and the possibility of crossing for pedestrians.
As reported, the project of the mentioned crossing has been frozen since 2007. Work on its development intensified after a full-scale invasion by Russia, when the need to expand the capacity of existing border crossing points and the construction of new ones came to the fore. The construction of the Nijankovichi-Malhowice border crossing point was completed in cooperation with the Polish side under the Open Border project and became possible after the completion of the Nijankovich-Drohobych-Stryj road section, which leads to the border crossing point.
A total of 7 checkpoints for cars operate on the border with Poland: Dorohusk-Yagodin, Hrebenne-Rava-Russkaya, Korcheva-Krakivets, Kroszenko-Smilnytsia, Medyka-Sheginy. Points Zosin-Ustilug and Budomir-Hrushev are designed for crossing by vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tons.
The Shegini checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border has resumed the clearance and passage of vehicles, the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports.
“The passage of persons and vehicles at the Shehyni checkpoint has been resumed. Currently, the queue to leave Ukraine is 120 cars and 4 buses,” the Facebook post says.
As reported, on Tuesday morning, the passage of vehicles was suspended in both directions due to a malfunction in the database of the Customs Service of Ukraine.
On Monday, July 18, in the morning at the Krakovets checkpoint on the border with Poland, work began on the completion, in connection with which the passage of cars to leave Ukraine was temporarily suspended, the State Border Service of Ukraine reports.
“Today, July 18, at the Krakovets checkpoint, within the framework of the Open Border project, work began on the completion. In the passenger direction, a coating is being installed over the pavilions. From 8:00, the passage of cars to leave Ukraine has been temporarily suspended. buses to enter Ukraine, as well as trucks in both directions, continues,” the message said on Facebook.

Work at the Krakovets checkpoint will last up to 10 days.
“The work is being carried out to improve the comfort of citizens, because after the installation of the cover, people at the checkpoint will receive additional protection from heat and rain. Also, after completion, the movement of passenger buses through this checkpoint will be fully resumed,” the ministry added.
From June 27, only trucks weighing more than 7.5 tons and scheduled buses will pass through the Yagodin-Dorogusk checkpoint to reduce queues at the border, the State Border Service of Ukraine reports.
“Cargoes up to 7.5 tons and light vehicles will not be processed. Empty trucks will move in separate traffic lanes, while fuel trucks will continue to be processed in the first place,” the message on Facebook said.
The operation of the Solotvyno-Sighetu Marmatiei checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Romanian border was resumed from 18:00 on Wednesday, June 17, the State Border Service of Ukraine said.
“According to the Romanian Border Police, admission to the territory of Romania will be provided for citizens who are officially employed in Romania and have supporting documents (without passing a mandatory observation) and persons in transit (within 48 hours),” the service said in a statement.
The remaining categories of people arrived in Romania have to pass a procedure of observation.
“We emphasize that foreigners are allowed to enter Ukraine with the obligatory presence of medical insurance, which provides for COVID-19 treatment and observation. For people arriving in Ukraine from countries with a significant [coronavirus] COVID-19 outbreak, observation or self-isolation with Diy Vdoma (Act at Home) application is provided,” the State Border Service said.

As of Tuesday morning, four checkpoints for motor service operate at the border with Poland, namely Krakovets-Korchova, Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne, Yahodyn-Dorohusk and Shehyni-Medyka.Pedestrian crossing is available only through the Shehyni-Medyka checkpoint, where from the beginning of June there has been an increase in passenger throughput and crowding in front of the Polish checkpoint due to durable control and sanitary measures.
