Ukraine as of July 4, 2019 threshed grain and leguminous crops on 2.5 million ha (25% of the forecast), harvesting 8.2 million tonnes of grain, the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry has reported.
The ministry said that farmers harvested 4.85 million tonnes of winter wheat from 22% of the projected area, 2.6 million tonnes of barley from 75% of areas and 288,400 tonnes of peas from 56% of fields. In addition, farmers harvested 786,000 tonnes of winter rapeseeds from 30% of fields.
The ministry said that harvesting campaign was launched in 23 regions of Ukraine.
As reported, the ministry predicts an increase in the yield of grain in 2019 to 70.8 million tonnes with a gross harvest of grain in the 2018/19 agricultural year at the level of 70.1 million tonnes.
USDA projects grain harvest in Ukraine this year at 73 million tonnes, exports – at 51.2 million tonnes.
Ukraine as of August 22, 2018, threshed 34.2 million tonnes of early grain and leguminous crops from 9.8 million hectares (100% of the areas under the crops) with a yield of 3.47 tonnes per hectare, Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food said on its website.
According to the Ministry, last year the harvest of early grains stood at 37.3 million tonnes gathered from 9.6 million hectares.
This year, Ukrainian farmers harvested 24.4 million tonnes of winter wheat from 6.4 million hectares (100% of the plan) with a yield of 3.81 tonnes per hectare and 0.66 million tonnes of spring wheat from 0.19 million hectares (95%) with a yield of 3.53 tonnes per hectare.
The total yield of winter barley was 3.1 million tonnes harvested from 0.87 million hectares (100% of the plan) with a crop yield of 3.53 tonnes per hectare, the total yield of spring barley was 4.4 million tonnes harvested from 1.6 million hectares (99%) with a crop yield of 2.75 tonnes per hectare.
A total of 388,000 tonnes of rye was harvested from 146,000 hectares (99% of the plan) with a yield of 2.65 tonnes per hectare, 434,000 tonnes of oat from 187,000 hectares (95%) with a yield of 2.32 tonnes per hectare, and 799,000 tonnes of peas from 430,000 hectares (99%) with a yield of 1.86 tonnes per hectare.
Farmers have just started to harvest buckwheat and millet. As of August 22, the total yield of buckwheat was 5,700 tonnes from 4,800 hectares (4% to the plan) with a crop yield of 1.18 tonnes per hectare and the total yield of millet was 3,600 tonnes from 2,000 hectares (4%) with a yield of 1.82 tonnes per hectare.
The ministry also briefed on the rapeseed harvesting campaign: 2.6 million tonnes of winter rapeseeds have also been harvested this year from 969,200 hectares (100% of the plan) with a yield of 2.65 tonnes per hectare and 94,700 tonnes of spring rapeseeds from 47,000 hectares (72%) with a yield of 2.01 tonnes per hectare.
Grain Alliance (LLC Baryshivska Grain Company), a large agricultural producer in Ukraine, has completed the harvesting of early grain and legumes, having threshed 43,800 tonnes of grain from 7,800 hectares.
The average yield of wheat is 5.77 tonnes per hectare; second- and third-grade wheat accounts for 84.5% of the harvest, the company said on its website.
The company is now preparing for gathering late crops.
Grain Alliance was co-founded by Harvest Moon East LLC (Baryshivka, Kyiv region) and BZK Grain Alliance (Sweden) in 2009.
Grain Alliance tills about 50,000 hectares of agricultural land in Ukraine’s Kyiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, Khmelnytsky and Chernihiv regions.
The company owns five grain storage facilities in Kyiv and Poltava regions, a seed processing plant with a capacity of 30,000 tonnes per year.
Ukraine as of July 25 had threshed 20 million tonnes of early grain and leguminous crops from 6.3 million hectares (65% of the forecast for these crops) with the yield being 31.9 centners per ha.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, farmers harvested 15 million tonnes of winter wheat from 4.4 million hectares (70% of the forecast) with the yield of 34.2 centners/ha, 37,000 tonnes of spring wheat from 16,000 hectares (9%) with a yield of 23 centners/ha, 2.9 million tonnes of winter barley from 816,000 hectares (99%) with the yield being 35.1 centners per ha, 1.3 million tonnes of spring barley from 628,000 hectares (41%) with a yield of 19.9 centners/ha, and 541,000 tonnes of peas from 319,000 hectares (75%) with a yield of 17 centners/ha.
The country also harvested 67,000 tonnes of rye from 27,500 hectares (19%) with a yield of 24.5 centners/ha and 16,000 tonnes of oats from 9,300 hectares (5%) with a yield of 17.5 centners/ha.
In addition, farmers threshed 2.3 million tonnes of winter rapeseeds from 902,000 hectares (92%) with a yield of 25.8 centners per ha and 11,000 tonnes of spring rapeseeds from 7,500 hectares (14%) with the yield standing at 15 centners/ha.
Ukraine as of July 23 had threshed 18.9 million tonnes of early grain and leguminous crops from 6 million hectares (62% of the forecast for these crops) with the yield being 31.7 centners per ha. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, farmers harvested 14.3 million tonnes of winter wheat from 4.2 million hectares (67% of the forecast) with the yield of 33.9 centners/ha, 30,000 tonnes of spring wheat from 13,000 hectares (7%) with a yield of 22.8 centners/ha, 2.9 million tonnes of winter barley from 813,000 hectares (98%) with the yield being 35.1 centners per ha, 1.1 million tonnes of spring barley from 563,000 hectares (37%) with a yield of 19.6 centners/ha, and 510,000 tonnes of peas from 306,000 hectares (72%) with a yield of 16.7 centners/ha.
The country also collected 60,000 tonnes of rye from 25,000 hectares (17%) with a yield of 23.5 centners/ha and 13,000 tonnes of oats from 8,000 hectares (4.1%) with a yield of 16.6 centners/ha.
In addition, farmers threshed 2.3 million tonnes of winter rapeseeds from 878,000 hectares (90%) with a yield of 25.7 centners per ha and 10,300 tonnes of spring rapeseeds from 6,000 hectares (11.3%) with the yield standing at 16.6 centners/ha. Agrarians in Odesa region completed wheat harvesting on July 23.
Ukraine as of June 22, 2018 threshed 1.1 million tonnes of early grain and leguminous crops from 349,000 ha, the press service of the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine has reported.
The press service said that average yield is 31.6 centners per ha.
A total of 211,000 tonnes of winter wheat was harvested from 73,000 ha with the average yield of 29.1 centners per ha, some 877,000 tonnes of winter barley from 269,000 ha with the average yield of 32.6 centners per ha.
Harvesting of winter rapeseeds continues: 62,000 tonnes from 36,500 ha with the average yield of 17 centners per ha.
Some 13,000 tonnes of peas were harvested from 7,000 ha with the average yield of 17.9 centners per ha.
