Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba departed for Guatemala, the first visit to Latin America by the country’s foreign minister in 10 years.
“The best way to spend Europe Day…is to be on the road to Latin America to open new horizons for European Ukraine. Ahead is a long journey to distant but genuinely friendly Guatemala, where, at the invitation of my colleague Mario Bucaro Flores, I will participate in the Ministerial Council of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) and make a bilateral visit. This country has shown itself in hard times as a true friend. And Ukraine appreciates friends,” Kuleba wrote on his Instagram.
Kuleba stressed that this is the first-ever visit of a Ukrainian Foreign Minister to Guatemala, the first-ever participation in the ACD Council of Ministers, and the first visit of a Ukrainian Foreign Minister to Latin America in 10 years.
The foreign minister noted that the ACD is 25 Caribbean states.
“An important region with significant resources is interested in Ukrainian goods, the experience of digitalization of the government, mutually beneficial political cooperation in international organizations,” Kuleba added.
According to him, the visit will open a new page in Ukraine’s relations with Latin American countries and strengthen cooperation with the Global South.
