The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has supplied innovative drugs for COVID-19 to the regions, in particular 20,000 bottles of Bamlanivimab and 40,000 bottles of Etesevimab, the Ministry said with reference to Deputy Health Minister for European Integration Oleksandr Komarida.
“In June, the working group made a decision on the readiness to include in the treatment protocol [for patients with COVID-19] the drugs Bamlanivimab and Etesevimab, if available in Ukraine. Today, the drugs are already in the regions, and accordingly the updated protocol will regulate their use,” said Komarida.
The drugs were delivered to Ukraine on September 4 with the assistance of the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States as a humanitarian aid provided by the American charitable organization Direct Relief.
According to Health Minister Viktor Liashko, the latest agreements on receiving this assistance were agreed upon during the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the United States.
The ministry notes that the mechanism of action of the drugs is to block the attachment of the virus to the cell membrane, which makes it impossible for SARS-CoV-2 to enter human cells, neutralizes the effect of the virus and helps prevent the development and treatment of COVID-19.
The Health Ministry of Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the leading U.S. company Medtronic during the working visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to the United States, according to the agency’s website.
“The signing of the memorandum will allow us, together with Medtronic, to work in the field of innovative biomedical technologies, to receive significant support to improve the qualifications of our doctors, to introduce effective screening solutions for the implementation of the Healthy Ukraine presidential program,” Health Minister Viktor Liashko said.
According to the statement, it is planned to expand cooperation in the field of comprehensive counteraction to cardiovascular diseases and the introduction of innovative technologies to prevent complications in patients with diabetes mellitus.
“Within the cooperation, we agreed to consider the possibility of localizing the production of certain medical devices of the company in Ukraine within the government support for projects with significant investments, the so-called investment nannies, as well as expanding Medtronic’s cooperation with Ukrainian companies specializing in IT solutions,” the Health Ministry said.
In addition, cooperation in the scientific field is planned.
Medtronic is a global leader in health technology and related services. It has a strong presence in Eastern Europe, trains doctors in all possible areas of medical care for the treatment of more than 70 different chronic and non-communicable diseases.
As of Monday morning, 417 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Ukraine, with 248 people reported as recovered, while 14 people died, the press service of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine said.
“During the day on August 15, 2021, some 417 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease COVID-19 were recorded in Ukraine (of which there are 31 children and 10 health workers). Also, over the past day: 433 people were hospitalized, 14 people died, and 248 people recovered,” said the Ministry of Health of Ukraine on the Telegram channel.
During the day on August 8, some 51,445 people were vaccinated against coronavirus in Ukraine, while 30,988 Ukrainians received the first vaccination, another 20,457 completed the immunization process, having received both doses of the vaccine, the press service of the Ministry of Health reports on the Telegram channel on Monday.
“Some 277 mobile teams, 816 vaccination points, 340 vaccination centers worked during the day,” the message says.
The information says that since the beginning of the vaccination campaign in Ukraine, 4,137,073 people have been vaccinated, of which 4,137,071 people received one dose, 2,401,647 people received two doses and are fully immunized.
“A total of 6,538,718 vaccinations were carried out,” the Ministry of Health said.
Over the past day, on July 16, more than 111,000 people were vaccinated against coronavirus in Ukraine, more than 4 million vaccinations have been made since the beginning of the vaccination campaign, the press service of the Ministry of Health said on Saturday.
“More than 4 million vaccinations have been carried out since the beginning of vaccination! Some 111,150 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 per day on July 16, 2021. One dose was received by 65,226 people, while 45,924 people were fully immunized,” the message published on the Telegram says.
Ukraine has registered 623 new cases of COVID-19, as well as 589 recoveries and 20 deaths in the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Health Ministry said.
“Ukraine recorded 623 new cases of COVID-19 [including 37 children and 12 medical workers] over the past day, July 14, 2021. In the past 24 hours, 387 persons were hospitalized, 20 died, and 589 recovered,” the ministry said on Telegram on Thursday morning.
Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, Ukraine has seen a total of 2.243 million cases of COVID-19, including 2.180 million recoveries and 52,685 deaths.
Over the past day, the majority of cases were registered in Kyiv (177), Odesa region (57), Zhytomyr region (33), Donetsk region (32), and Kyiv region (31).
According to the Health Ministry, a coronavirus vaccine was received by 108,759 people in Ukraine over the past day, July 14, including 61,580 persons who received the first shot of vaccine and 47,179 who completed their vaccination.
“As many as 108,759 persons were vaccinated for COVID-19 over the past day, July 14, 2021. The first shot was received by 61,580 persons, while 47,179 persons completed their vaccination,” the ministry said on Telegram.
“Since the beginning of the vaccination process, 2.476.634 persons have received the vaccine, including 2.476.632 who received their first shot and 1.305.882 who received both doses [including two persons who received their first shot abroad]. A total of 3.782.514 shots have been administered to date,” the ministry said.
