Lita Plus Clinic introduces new European mammoplasty techniques

Lita Plus Clinic plans to introduce new European mammoplasty techniques, Preserve and MIA (Minimal Invasive Augmentation), which are not yet available in Ukraine.

According to Sergey Derbak, plastic surgeon, founder of the Lita Plus plastic surgery clinic, and president of the Upradas association, as reported to Interfax-Ukraine, the clinic has now begun preparations for the adaptation and implementation of these techniques.

The clinic’s specialists were able to familiarize themselves with the techniques at the Victoria Kliniken clinic (Stockholm), which is considered one of the leading centers for the new generation of mammoplasty.

“A new philosophy of mammoplasty is emerging in Europe – minimally invasive techniques that preserve the anatomical integrity of tissues and ensure the most natural result. Among the leaders in this field are the Preserve and MIA techniques developed by the outstanding surgeon Dr. Charles Randquist, author of MiFM-Tech and one of the key innovators in modern aesthetic breast surgery,” said Derbak.

According to him, thanks to international partnerships, Ukrainian doctors have direct access to the primary source of leading European techniques, and clinics have the opportunity to implement technologies that meet the highest international standards.

“Patients will have access to safer and less invasive surgeries with predictable long-term results. All this strengthens Ukraine’s position on the world map of aesthetic surgery and builds a new level of trust in national medicine,” said Derbak.

According to him, the Lita Plus clinic continues to develop international partnerships, invest in education, and bring the most advanced global treatment technologies to Ukraine at the level of the best European clinics.

The Preserve and MIA (Minimal Invasive Augmentation) techniques are the most modern approaches in mammoplasty. Preserve provides for maximum preservation of breast tissue, while MIA allows for surgery without leaving scars on the breast itself and reduces recovery time to a minimum.

Founded in 2018, Lita Plus is a plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine clinic in Uzhhorod.

Its founder is plastic surgeon Sergey Derbak.

Among the declared areas of focus are plastic and reconstructive surgery (operations on the face, chest, and body), hardware and injection cosmetology, and, in particular, hair transplantation.

Ukraine is forming new market for plastic surgery and medical tourism, according to expert

The plastic and reconstructive surgery sector is becoming one of the notable drivers of private medicine and the regional economy in Ukraine, despite the war. This is evidenced by global industry data and infrastructure projects being implemented in the country, according to plastic surgeon and founder of the Lita Plus clinic, Sergey Derbak.

According to the ISAPS Global Survey 2023, more than 33 million aesthetic procedures are performed worldwide each year, and the global market for plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine in 2024 is estimated at approximately $67 billion, with growth rates of 28-30% per year. Turkey’s industry revenue from medical tourism in the plastic surgery segment alone reaches $2-3 billion annually, and the industry as a whole creates more than 1 million jobs in related sectors, from transportation and hotels to pharmaceuticals and logistics.

“Plastic surgery is no longer a narrow medical specialization. It is now a full-fledged industry that creates jobs, generates tax revenues, develops regions, and returns money to the country’s economy,” Derbak noted.

According to him, Ukrainian plastic surgeons maintain a high level of trust among patients and the professional community, speak at international conferences, and work according to international protocols, while the cost of operations in Ukraine is 2–4 times lower than in the Czech Republic, Austria, or Germany. This contributes to the gradual return of patients who had surgery abroad in the early years of the war.

The expert also pointed out the potential of Transcarpathia as a future medical hub. The construction of the high-tech Lita Plus plastic surgery center, designed according to the logic of leading European medical centers, is nearing completion in Uzhhorod.

“Transcarpathia has the potential to become a powerful medical hub thanks to its logistics, proximity to the EU, and environment for recovery. We are building a clinic that will be able to accept patients from all over Ukraine and abroad. This means new jobs, satellite businesses, and a sustainable economic effect for the region,” said Derbak.

According to his estimates, a large specialized plastic surgery clinic can create 80-120 jobs in the first stage — from doctors, anesthesiologists, and medical staff to administrators, logisticians, and service providers — and ensure stable tax revenues by operating in the “white” sector. Additional economic benefits come from patients and their companions spending money on hotels, transportation, restaurants, rehabilitation, beauty services, and pharmaceuticals.

“After moving the clinic to Uzhhorod, we have already created dozens of jobs, including for local residents. Some of the specialists are doctors whom we have trained at our own facility. We are investing not only in buildings and equipment, but also in the development of human resources in the region,” emphasized the founder of Lita Plus.

The expert considers it realistic that Ukraine will be able to occupy the niche of a medical hub in Eastern Europe between Turkey and the EU countries in the medium term, provided that a network of high-tech private clinics is developed, price competitiveness is maintained, investments are made in logistics, and medical tourism is systematically promoted.

According to him, new projects in private medicine are not only the opening of another clinic, but also a signal of the beginning of a new stage in the development of Ukraine’s “medical economy,” where plastic and aesthetic surgery is becoming a separate economic resource—a source of jobs, taxes, investments, and the return of patients and funds that previously went abroad.

UPRADAS Association of Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery Specialists Established in Ukraine

Specialists in plastic and reconstructive medicine, dermatosurgery, and oncoplastic mammology have united into an association to establish modern medical standards.

As reported to the “Interfax-Ukraine” agency, the Ukrainian Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Dermatologic Aesthetic Surgery and Oncoplastic Mammology (UPRADAS) brings together four key areas: plastic surgery, reconstructive surgery, dermatosurgery, and oncoplastic mammology. This will create a new model of collaboration among doctors.

UPRADAS is developing a system of continuous education, creating expert commissions to support doctors in complex clinical cases, and providing access to international training programs and congresses.

For patients, the association’s activities mean the emergence of transparent mechanisms for assessing the quality of medical care, higher safety standards, and increased trust in specialists.

“UPRADAS is not just another organization. It is a structure that creates unified ethical rules focused on the safety of both patients and doctors. We are forming a professional system where the main value is knowledge, and the main standard is responsibility. Ukraine has strong specialists, but they need space for development, education systems, and mutual support,” said Serhiy Derbak, President of Upradas in the field of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and founder of the Lita Plus clinic.

He emphasized that the main goal of UPRADAS is to create unified professional standards that regulate not only the technical aspects of surgery but also the ethical, educational, and communication principles of the industry.

Among the strategic areas of activity are the development of methodological recommendations, the creation of a Medical Care Quality Commission, the implementation of continuous training programs, and the enhancement of international integration for Ukrainian specialists.

Furthermore, UPRADAS plans to create an independent expert commission where both patients and doctors can turn for the review of complex clinical cases, consultations, and professional opinions.

Key priorities for the association will be improving doctors’ qualifications through continuous education and international exchanges, establishing ethical and professional norms that protect both the patient and the doctor, and enhancing the quality of medical services through the standardization of processes and clinical protocols.

Upradas members are regular participants in world congresses such as AMWC (Monaco), IMCAS (Paris), Global Breast Surgery Congress, European School of Reconstructive Microsurgery (Barcelona), and others.

The annual Ukrainian conferences Breast Meeting, Anatomy of Beauty, and Difficult Cases Conference with the participation of international speakers are planned.

“UPRADAS creates a platform where a doctor has everything necessary for quality work, and a patient has everything for confidence in their treatment. Together, we are forming new standards that will improve the quality of care and strengthen trust in Ukrainian medicine,” said Oleg Savenkov, President of the Reconstructive Plastic Surgery direction of UPRADAS.

“The future of medicine lies in knowledge and ethics. We combine science, practice, and international experience so that Ukrainian dermatosurgery and aesthetic medicine develop according to world standards,” commented Oleksandr Turkevych, President of the Dermatosurgery direction of UPRADAS.

Plastic surgery clinic is being built in Uzhhorod

Lita Plus plastic surgery clinic relocated from Kiev region will open a plastic surgery clinic in Zakarpattya region, Lita Plus clinic founder Serhiy Derbak said.

“We moved the clinic to Uzhgorod together with the equipment and the team, which is 35 people. Our clinic was located in Irpen, and it was completely destroyed during the hostilities, so we simply had no place left to operate,” he said in an interview with the agency ‘Interfax-Ukraine’.

Derbak noted that after the aggressor destroyed a clinic in the Kiev region, “the decision to build a clinic in Uzhgorod was natural.”

“We saw another important factor – logistics for patients. I conducted a statistic: 80% of our patients today come from abroad. These are Ukrainians who left during the war, but return to Ukraine to receive medical services. That is why medical services will remain very important for Transcarpathia as a region. And that is why we have decided: we will build here,” he said.

Derbak noted that the clinic project will consist of two buildings – surgical and hospital.

“One building is a completely new surgical center with an area of 1000 square meters, equipped, in particular, and its own bunker – with all the necessary security elements, which, unfortunately, were very much needed in Bucha. The new clinic has already taken all these risks into account. Perhaps it is a consequence of traumatic experience, but I don’t want to experience something like that again. The second building is the reconstruction of the existing building for the hospital,” he said.

Derbak noted that “the surgical building is designed according to the highest standards: even open-heart surgeries can be performed there – with proper ventilation, air sterilization and all medical requirements”.

The next stage of the project’s development will be the opening of a large balneological department.

“We have already conducted two wells – to a depth of 1,200 and 800 meters – and have thermal rhodon water, which is ideal for treating scars. After the war, we plan to operate as a specialized plastic surgery clinic for patients with scar deformities. In addition, we will create a rehabilitation center for the military: we will combine surgical care, balneological treatment, physical rehabilitation after injuries, surgeries, burns and contractures,” he said.

Ukraine can become world center for reconstructive surgery – surgeon

After the war is over, Ukraine will become one of the world’s largest centers for reconstructive surgery and treatment of mine-blast injuries, predicts plastic surgeon and founder of the Lita Plus clinic Serhiy Derbak.

“In 2014, when we started operating on wounded soldiers, it became the starting point for modern reconstructive surgery in Ukraine. And after 2022, with the outbreak of a full-scale war, the number of reconstructive surgeries and new reconstructive surgery centers in Ukraine became unprecedented. I am convinced that after the war is over, Ukraine will become one of the strongest centers in the world in terms of experience in dealing with war and mine-blast injuries,” he said in an interview withInterfax-Ukraine.

Derbak noted that “today in Ukraine there is a real boom in the development of microsurgery and reconstructive surgery.”

“Although I wish these circumstances had not arisen, this is a time of extraordinary professional development for professional surgeons. After all, mine-blast injuries are unpredictable, each case is unique and requires maximum skill,” he said.

Ukrainian plastic surgeons unite to develop reconstructive medicine

Leading plastic surgeons from all over Ukraine gathered at the Breast Weekend 2.0 conference organized by Lita Plus clinic on the initiative of its founder, Sergey Derbak.

At the conference, which took place on April 26 in Uzhhorod, leading experts discussed, among other things, modern approaches to reconstruction after trauma and cancer, which is an extremely important area for Ukrainian medicine in the context of war and the ever-growing need to restore the quality of life of victims.

“Today, plastic and reconstructive surgery in Ukraine is reaching a new level. It is not only about restoring appearance, it is about restoring people’s faith in themselves, in life, in the future. And we, the medical community, must do everything possible to support our people and our country,” said Serhiy Derbak, founder of Lita Plus clinic and initiator of the conference.

Breast Weekend 2.0 has become not only a manifestation of support for the army, but also an important step for the development of plastic and reconstructive surgery in Ukraine, an industry that is now gaining new strategic importance and shaping the future of national medicine.
