MCDONALD’S PLANS TO LAUNCH WASTE SORTING AT ALL RESTAURANTS IN UKRAINE

The enterprise with foreign investment (FDI) McDonald’s Ukraine Ltd. (Kyiv), which is developing the U.S. fast food chain McDonald’s in Ukraine, plans to expand a pilot program for sorting waste in restaurant halls to the entire chain in Ukraine by the end of 2021.
According to the company’s press release, the pilot program was launched in September 2020 at 16 restaurants in Kyiv, Lviv, Dnipro, Kharkiv and Kyiv region. Special sorting stations were installed in the restaurant halls to separate waste by type. The sorted waste was sent for recycling of raw materials.
According to the company, in four months of the pilot program, more than 80 tonnes of packaging were sorted and transferred for processing. In general, more than 2.6 million Ukrainians have joined the program.
In addition, earlier in September 2020, the company replaced plastic containers for salads with paper packaging, in June it replaced plastic cups for cold drinks with cellulose cups recyclable in Ukraine, the press service recalls.
“By 2025, McDonald’s globally plans to completely switch to the production of all packaging materials from renewable certified raw materials, as well as raw materials that can be reused. Thus, polyethylene and plastic can be used to make garbage bags, and other waste will get a second life after recycling,” the press service said.
The first McDonald’s in Ukraine was opened in Kyiv on May 24, 1997. The McDonald’s restaurant chain in Ukraine has 96 restaurants in 20 cities.

MCDONALD’S IN UKRAINE AIMS TO RETAIN STAFF

McDonald’s Ukraine Ltd. (Kyiv), foreign-owned enterprise, which is developing the U.S. fast food restaurant chain McDonald’s in Ukraine, has suspended the recruitment of new employees due to quarantine and aims to maintain the current team.
“The closure of restaurants affected the company’s activity. Most of the business does not work, because restaurants are closed, and food can only be purchased through delivery or McDrive. Since people are the core of our business, we directed all our efforts to maintaining the team, its support and internal communication with employees who do not work forcibly,” the company’s press service told Interfax-Ukraine.
To date, the company’s staff consists of almost 10,000 people, about 60% of them, are now idled due to the closure of restaurants under quarantine. In particular, about 55 restaurants of the U.S. chain are working with delivery partners, or through McDrive. No more than 40% of the company’s staff supports the operation of these restaurants.
“All employees of closed restaurants and those employees, who are over 55 years old, received payments for idle period or got paid leaves. In general, this is almost 60% of the McDonald’s team in Ukraine. Some employees chose unpaid leave to use later annual paid leave for the vacation. In addition, we have suspended recruitment and plan to save the jobs of our employees.”
The McDonald’s restaurant chain has 92 restaurants in 19 cities throughout Ukraine.

MCDONALD’S OPENS RESTAURANT IN TERNOPIL

Enterprise with foreign investments McDonald’s Ukraine Ltd. (Kyiv), which develops the American chain of McDonald’s fast food restaurants in Ukraine, has opened its first restaurant in Ternopil located at 30, Hetmana Mazepy Street. The press service said that the new restaurant with 112 seats indoors and 128 seats outdoors is located in a one-story building with an area of 520 square meters. Around 100 employees service some 2,000 clients every day. The restaurant has the McDrive service.
The McDonald’s restaurant in Ternopil has become the ninth restaurant of the new format in Ukraine.
The first McDonald’s outlet in Ukraine opened in Kyiv on May 24, 1997.

MCDONALD’S INTRODUCES FULL TABLE SERVICE IN FIVE RESTAURANTS IN UKRAINE

Enterprise with foreign investments McDonald’s Ukraine Ltd. (Kyiv), which develops the American chain of McDonald’s fast food restaurants in Ukraine, has introduced the option of full table service in a restaurant at Pivdenny Railway Station in Kyiv, which became the fifth establishment of the new format.
According to the company, McDonald’s intends by the end of the year to open seven more McDonald’s establishments of the new format.
According to the press service, the restaurant of the network at Pivdenny Railway Station started work at the end of 2016. After reconstruction, self-service terminals were installed in it, table service was introduced, the cash zone was divided into two parts – for ordering and receiving dishes. A hospitality expert will work in the updated McDonald’s, who should notice and respond to customers’ needs.
“In the second half of 2018, another element of the format of future experience will be introduced – a new principle of the kitchen “Cooked for you.” This will allow visitors to add or remove ingredients in burgers to their liking,” McDonald’s said.
According to the press service, the new formats in 2018 were also introduced in four restaurants of the network: two in Kyiv, one in Cherkasy and Boryspil (Kyiv region).
The first McDonald’s restaurant in the country opened in Kyiv on May 24, 1997.
