SEVERODONETSK AZOT TRIPLES PRODUCTION OF MINERAL FERTILIZERS IN 2019

PrJSC Severodonetsk Azot, part of Group DF belonging to businessman Dmytro Firtash, in 2019 tripled production of mineral fertilizers, to 384,090 tonnes, the group’s press service has said.
Production of ammonium nitrate amounted to 371,660 tonnes (3.8 times more than a year earlier), commercial water ammonia to 1,650 tonnes (36.4% more), carbamide-ammonia mixture to 10,780 tonnes (doubled). Production of non-concentrated nitric acid amounted to 296,200 tonnes, which is 3.7 times more than a year earlier.
“The large-scale and important project for us over the year is the start of production at the new UAN liquid fertilizer plant. The result is as follows: we produced twice as many UANs as a year earlier, when we used the temporary UAN production technological scheme,” the press service said citing chairman of the board Leonid Buhayev.
The report also noted that in addition to the installation of the UAN production facility, projects for the modernization of the ammonia-refrigeration unit in ammonia production workshop 1-A, overhauls in the nitric acid production workshop, the steam supply and general communications department, and a number of other divisions became important for the enterprise’s work.
According to the press service, the total capital investment of the enterprise last year amounted to UAH 32.73 million.
PrJSC Severodonetsk Azot is one of the largest Ukrainian chemical enterprises. It has been part of Group DF since 2011. The core business of the enterprise is production of mineral nitrogen fertilizers.

DNIPROVSKY PLANT OF MINERAL FERTILIZERS TO START PRODUCTION OF NPK FERTILIZERS

The Dniprovsky Plant of Mineral Fertilizers has launched production of the compound fertilizers (NPK) with perspective to produce 75,000 tonnes of NPK by the end of 2019, Vice President of the Union of Chemists of Ukraine Serhiy Liskovsky said.
“A long-term agreement to supply the main raw materials was signed. Every month we’ll produce 15,000-18,000 of the compound fertilizers,” he said.
Liskovsky said that the production program foresees production of liquid nitrogen-phosphate NP fertilizers (8:22), pelleted fertilizers (10:32), and production of the NPK-compound fertilizers (16:16:16) is scheduled for the second half of August.
Liskovsky reminded that for the last five years the plant has been working with the interrupts, by 20-25% of its capacities, in terms of absence of the raw materials inside the country and expensive import.
“For this period a share of Ukrainian enterprises on the domestic market of compound fertilizers dropped by 10% and by 2-3% on some positions,” he added.
According to Liskovsky, state-owned enterprise Sumykhimprom with a capacity of 40,000 tonnes per month also will produce compound fertilizers. By the end of the year, two enterprises aspired to produce 275,000-280,000 tonnes of products.
According to the Chemists Union of Ukraine, Ukraine needs 1.2 million tonnes of compound fertilizers annually, 1.3 million tonnes meant for import.

JAPANESE SUMITOMO WILL ACQUIRE 51% STAKE IN UKRAINE’S MINERAL FERTILIZERS SUPPLIER

Japanese corporation Sumitomo will acquire a 51% stake in Spectr-Agro LLC (Kyiv region), a supplier of mineral fertilizers, seeds and equipment to Ukrainian agricultural enterprises. A corresponding agreement was signed between the corporation, Spectr-Agro and Spectr-Agrotechnika LLC on July 11, the Ukrainian company said on Facebook.
“Over 30 years ago, Sumitomo founded the agri-scientific business line (ASBL), starting with the export of plant protection products from Japan, Sumitomo is actively engaged in expanding the supply chain, constantly developing wholesale and retail distribution channels. Today, this activity is carried out in 30 countries around the world. The acquisition of Spectr-Agro is a continuation of the development of Sumitomo’s business in trading in agricultural resources,” the report said.
Spectr-Agro is expected that the acquisition transaction will contribute to the expansion and growth of the company’s activities in Ukraine.
Spectr-Agro was founded in 2009, currently it operates throughout Ukraine. It supplies such agricultural resources as plant protection products, mineral fertilizers, seeds and agricultural equipment to more than 3,500 agricultural producers in the country.
As of October 2017, the company was co-owned by Vasyl Skarlat with a 50% stake, Maria Lavreniuk with 25%, and Volodymyr Lobach with 25%.
In the third quarter of 2017, the company posted UAH 28.205 million in net profit, its revenue was UAH 2.999 billion.
