In second position is the left-wing New Popular Front bloc with 27.99% of the vote. The leftists have also significantly improved their result compared to the 2022 elections, when 5.8 million voters voted for their coalition New People’s Ecological and Social Union (Nupes). Due to the defeat of the presidential social-liberal Renaissance party in the June 9 elections to the European Parliament, which lost to the National Union, President Emmanuel Macron announced on the same day the dissolution of the National Assembly and called early legislative elections.

The first round of elections to the lower house of the French parliament – the National Assembly – was held the day before, the second round will be held on July 7.
