In January-November 2025, Ukraine reduced imports of nickel and nickel products by 0.3% compared to the same period in 2024, to $23.592 million. In November, imports of nickel and nickel products amounted to $2.546 million.
Exports of nickel and nickel products in January-November 2025 amounted to $1.245 million (in November — $113,000) compared to $585,000 in the first 11 months of 2024.
In addition, Ukraine increased imports of nickel and nickel products by 73.7% in 2024 compared to 2023, to $26.730 million.
At the same time, in 2023, it reduced imports of nickel and nickel products by 74.2% compared to 2022, to $15.391 million.
Exports of nickel and nickel products in 2024 amounted to $602,000, while in 2023 they amounted to $532,000, and in 2022 — $1.268 million.
Nickel is used in the production of stainless steel and for nickel plating. Nickel is also used in the production of batteries, in powder metallurgy, and in chemical reagents.
In the first ten months of 2025, imports of nickel and nickel products fell by 4.8% to $21.05 million, while in October, nickel imports amounted to $3.81 million, according to data from the State Customs Service.
At the same time, exports almost doubled to $1.13 million, compared to $0.57 million in 2024.
In 2024, nickel imports, on the contrary, rose sharply by 73.7% to $26.73 million after falling by 74% in 2023.

In the first eight months of 2025, imports of nickel and nickel products fell by 22% to $14.515 million (in August – $2.069 million).
Nickel exports during this period amounted to $746,000, compared to $508,000 a year earlier; there were no deliveries in August.

In January-May 2025, Ukrainian companies reduced imports of nickel and nickel products by 28% year-on-year to $7.976 million. In May, nickel products worth $3.071 million were imported.
At the same time, Ukraine’s nickel exports amounted to $443 thousand, which is almost twice as much as in the first five months of 2024 ($242 thousand). In May, exports amounted to $69 thousand.
For comparison: in 2024, imports of nickel products to Ukraine increased by 73.7% to $26.730 million, while in 2023 they amounted to only $15.391 million. Exports in 2024 amounted to $602 thousand, and in 2023 – $532 thousand.
In January-April 2025, nickel imports to Ukraine decreased by 40.9% to $5.01 million. Exports amounted to $374,000, compared to $217,000 in the same period of 2024. In April, imports amounted to $1.11 million, while exports amounted to $13,000.
