SALES OF NEW PASSENGER CARS IN UKRAINE UP BY 30%

Initial registrations of new passenger cars in Ukraine in June 2021 increased by 21% compared to the same month in 2020 and by almost 36% compared to the “pre-COVID” June 2019, to 8,800 units,” Ukrautoprom reports.
According to the association’s information on its website, compared to May of this year, the demand for new passenger cars increased by 4%.
The most popular brand in June was Toyota (a year ago – Renault) with 1,296 sold cars and an increase of almost 25%.
Renault ranked second with 986 cars (less by 15% from June 2020).
The third place, as in June last year, was given by Ukrainians to Kia, having purchased 742 new cars – 10% more.
The fourth result is again with Skoda – 609 cars and an increase of 27%, and, like a year ago, Hyundai closes the top five with an increase in registrations by 11%, to 441 units.
In addition, last month, the top ten most popular brands included Nissan, which rose from the 9th in June 2020, with 391 units (more by 68%), and VW, which took the seventh position, managed to move from the 20th position in June last year due to the growth of registrations by 3.7 times, to 384 units.
This is followed by Peugeot – 383 units (more by 17%); Chery – 369 units (129%); Mitsubishi – 367 units (71%).
Ukrautoprom notes that in the first half of this year in Ukraine, the first license plate was received by 48,400 new passenger cars, which is 30% more than in the same period last year.

UKRZALIZNYTSIA SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH KRIUKOV CAR BUILDING WORKS ON THE SUPPLY OF 100 PASSENGER CARS

JSC Ukrzaliznytsia has signed an agreement with PJSC Kriukov Car Building Works (KCBW) on the supply of 100 new passenger cars.
“This story had a success!” Ukrzaliznytsia signed an agreement with KCBW for the supply of 100 passenger cars. For the first time in the history of the country, such a number of cars will be purchased at the expense of the state,” Head of Ukrzaliznytsia Ivan Yuryk wrote on his Facebook page.
He said that these will be cars of domestic production. Accordingly, Ukrzaliznytsia with this purchase will support machine building and the country’s economy.
According to Yuryk, the wishes of passengers were taken into account in the development of technical documentation. Consequently, the company will receive modern carriages, in which everything to the smallest detail will be provided for the comfort of passengers.
As noted in a posting on the Ukrzaliznytsia’s website, the first batch of cars – at least 20 units – will be delivered by the end of this year.
“These cars will be used to transport passengers on the most popular routes. All cars under the signed agreement are to be delivered by the manufacturer by the end of next year. That is, they will enter the routes before the peak winter traffic of the 2022/23season,” Yuryk said.
The company also said that in 2021-2023, UAH 40.4 billion can be allocated from the state budget of Ukraine to renew the passenger rolling stock.
Earlier, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine recognized the provision of these funds as admissible state aid to Ukrzaliznytsia.
According to information posted in the ProZorro platform, KCBW will supply these 100 cars for UAH 3.042 billion. The purchase included four lots with the following items: 51 compartment cars, 12 luxury cars, 20 compartment cars with the ability to transport people with disabilities in a wheelchair, 17 compartment cars with a train manager’s compartment and with the ability to transport people with disabilities in a wheelchair.
Ukrzaliznytsia announced a tender for the purchase of 100 passenger cars with a total estimated cost of UAH 3.044 billion through the ProZorro state electronic platform in February this year.
In 2020, Ukrzaliznytsia acquired 28 new passenger cars for its own funds, compared with 19 in 2019. Thirteen cars were overhauled, and 439 cars passed first degree overhaul.

SALES OF NEW PASSENGER CARS IN UKRAINE 30% UP IN JANUARY-APRIL

Primary registrations of new passenger cars in Ukraine in January-April this year increased by 31% compared to the same period in 2020, to 31,100 units, Ukrautoprom reports.
According to the association, including in April, primary registrations more than tripled compared to the same month in 2020, to more than 10,000 units.
However, such a significant increase is explained by an extremely low comparison base, which was caused by the strict quarantine restrictions due to COVID-19, which were in force in Ukraine in April last year, the association notes.
Compared to March of this year, the demand for new cars in April increased by 11%.
At the same time, the sales leader changed last month: Toyota came out on top with a nearly four-fold increase in sales to 1,618 units. Renault moved down to the second place, sales of which increased by 58%, to 1,215 cars.
The third position with more than three-fold growth in sales from April 2020 was kept by Kia with 830 units. The fourth result was shown by Skoda with 616 new cars (3.4 times more), and Volkswagen closes the five leading brands with more than nine-fold growth in sales with 482 cars.
According to the above statistics, in April, the Chinese Chery moved to the sixth position in the ranking (against the 15th in April 2020) due to an almost six-fold increase in registrations (up to 416 units).
The bestseller of the month was the compact crossover KIA Sportage with 640 new cars registered.

IN 2020 UKRAINIANS PURCHASE 85,500 PASSENGER CARS

In 2020, Ukrainians purchased and registered 85,500 passenger cars, which is 3% less than in 2019, Ukrainian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Ukrautoprom) said.
“Compared to other European markets, the fall in car sales in Ukraine does not look so dramatic. However, the reason for this is the extremely low consumer activity in the new car market, which developed even before the coronavirus [COVID-19] pandemic, caused by both a fall in the purchasing power of the population focused on the segment of inexpensive cars and the policy of liberalization of imports of used cars, which radically changed the structure of demand in the Ukrainian car market,” according to the association’s website.
According to the association, in the structure of the car market 80% fell on the initial registration of imported used cars and 20% on new cars.
At the same time, in 2020, on the new car market, six out of 12 months showed positive dynamics compared to the same months of the previous year: January (more by 34%), February (more by 21%), June (more by 12%), July (more by 10%), September (more by 6%), and December (more by 7%), while the negative dynamics was formed in March (less by 15%), April (less by 47%), May (less by 15%), August (less by 16%), October (less by 6%) and November (less by 17%).
According to Ukrautoprom, Renault became the market leader for new passenger cars, as in 2019 some 14,360 cars were registered (2% less than a year earlier), and Renault Duster became the best-selling model of this brand with 5,534 registrations.
In second place is Toyota, which increased sales by 6%, to 13,315 cars, including 5,689 compact crossovers Toyota RAV-4, which became the bestseller of the year.
The third result was kept by Kia, despite the drop in registrations by 20% to 6,089 cars. The volume-forming model in Kia sales was Kia Sportage which was chosen by 5,043 buyers.
The fourth place, like a year ago, was given to Skoda, Ukrainians purchased 5,061 cars of this brand (19% less), and the best sales were for Skoda Octavia 1,855 cars.
Hyundai closes the top five (in 2019 it was the sixth) 4,031 cars (21% less), where Hyundai Tucson crossover became the most sold 2,280 cars.
The TOP-10 of the market in 2020 also included: Nissan 3,834 cars (less by 28%); Volkswagen 3,690 cars (less by 21%); Peugeot 3,037 cars (more by 28%); Suzuki 2,966 cars (more by 13%); and Mazda 2,844 cars (more by 15%).
The association said that December of 2020 became a record in terms of sales 9,801 cars, which is 7% more than December of 2019.
The activation of sales in December of 2020 is also noted by the information and analytical group AUTO-Consulting in a message on its website: according to its data, 9,500 cars were sold last month which is 3% more than in December of 2019 and 26, 6% more than in November in 2020.
“This is the maximum monthly sales volume over the past six years. The last time the same amount was sold only in February 2014,” the analysts of the group said.
At the same time, Toyota was the leader in the market in December, which, only by a few cars, beat Renault, and Skoda held the third place with a 39% increase in sales. Kia, which ranked fourth, added 13% in sales, while Peugeot moved up to fifth place (from eighth in November) with a 52% increase in sales.
The best-selling cars in December, according to the group, were Toyota RAV-4 (700 cars), Renault Duster (over 600 cars), and Kia Sportage (almost 500 cars).
According to the group, taking into account December sales, in general in 2020 the market of new passenger cars decreased by 3.3%, to 86,000 cars compared to 2019.

SALES OF NEW PASSENGER CARS IN UKRAINE DECREASES BY 8% IN OCT

Sales of new passenger cars in October of this year decreased by 8.2% compared to the same month of 2019, to 8,340 cars, which is 602 cars (or 7.8%) more than in September of this year, AUTO-Consulting said on Monday.
In October, Renault returned to be a leader, managing to increase sales by 39% compared with September 2020, to 1,413 cars, while Toyota, which finished second, reduced sales by almost 3%, to 1,343 cars. The third position was taken by Kia with an increase in sales compared with September 2020 by 76.3%, to 825 cars.
AUTO-Consulting said that in October of this year, the fourth place was taken by Skoda (compared to the sixth in September), with a 43% increase in sales, and Volkswagen remained in the top five best sellers, but the sales of this brand decreased by 26%.
“An important event in October was Peugeot’s breakthrough to seventh place (from 16th in September 2020) with a 114% increase in sales, to 335 cars. Peugeot has already finished in the top 10 several times throughout the year, and it looks like the current success will become systemic,” AUTO-Consulting said.
At the same time, according to analysts’ estimates, it was indicative in October that key premium brands – Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus – remained without significant sales growth and finished with a decline in sales.
Taking into account October sales, the car market in January-October decreased by 3.3% compared to the same period in 2019.

DEMAND FOR NEW PASSENGER CARS IN UKRAINE GROWS BY 10%

Primary registrations of new passenger cars in Ukraine in July this year increased 10% compared to July 2019, to 8,400 cars, the Ukrautoprom association has reported.
At the same time, in comparison with June of this year, the demand for cars grew by 15%, with May – by 40%.
The Renault brand retained its leadership position in July, increasing sales by 20%, to 1,440 cars. Toyota was second with an increase in registrations by 10%, to 1,147 cars, and Skoda was third, as in July 2019, with 457 cars sold (one third less than a year earlier).
Hyundai was at the fourth place (in July 2019 sixth position) with a 6% decrease in registrations, to 442 cars, and KIA was fifth with 429 cars sold (a fall of 28%).
The top 10 of the July market included: Volkswagen with 361 cars (a rise of 7%); Peugeot with 352 cars (a rise of 113% and seventh place compared with the 12th position in July 2019); Suzuki with 351 cars (a rise of 36%); Nissan with 332 cars (a fall of 32%); and Mazda with 279 cars (a rise of 20%).
