In January-May 2024, pharmacy sales in Ukraine increased by 13.87% in monetary terms compared to the same period in 2023 – to UAH 80.159 billion, while in physical terms they decreased by 4.2% to 491.363 million packs.
According to Business Credit, according to its research, the weighted average price of pharmacy basket goods during this period was UAH 163.14, which is 18.86% more than in the same period in 2023.
At the same time, pharmacy sales of medicines in January-May 2024 amounted to UAH 62.827 billion, which is 13.72% more than in the same period in 2023, but in physical terms, pharmacy sales of medicines decreased by 4.45% to 345.722 million packs.
The weighted average retail price of medicines in January-May 2024 amounted to UAH 181.73 per unit, which is 19% higher than a year earlier.
In addition, according to Business Credit, in monetary terms, pharmacy sales of medical cosmetics showed the highest dynamics in January-May 2024, which increased by 20.72% to almost UAH 2.035 billion, while in physical terms, pharmacy sales in this segment increased by 10.87% to 11.483 million packs. The weighted average price in this segment amounted to UAH 177.2 in the first five months of the year, which is 8.88% higher than a year earlier.
In addition, dietary supplements are among the leaders in pharmacy sales, which grew by 20% in monetary terms to UAH 8.514 billion, but in physical terms remained at the last year’s level – 43.208 million packs (up 0.97%).
As reported, in 2023, pharmacy sales in Ukraine increased by almost 21.67% in monetary terms compared to 2022, to UAH 174.249 billion, while in physical terms they decreased by 4.76%, to 1.218 billion packs. The weighted average price of pharmacy sales last year amounted to UAH 142.96 per unit, which is 27.75% more than in 2022. At the same time, sales of medicinal products in pharmacies increased by 19.69% in monetary terms to UAH 136.246 billion, while sales in physical terms decreased by 3% to 858.55 million packs. Their weighted average price increased by 23.5% to UAH 158.69 per unit.
In January-March 2024, pharmacy sales in Ukraine increased by 14.8% in monetary terms compared to the same period a year earlier to UAH 48.532 billion, while in physical terms they decreased by 3% to 300.373 million packs. The weighted average price of pharmacy basket products in this period amounted to UAH 161.57, which is 18.39% more than in the first quarter of 2023.
Pharmacy sales in Ukraine in January-October 2023 increased by 26.74% compared to the same period in 2022 to UAH 157.997 billion, in physical terms – by 4.12%, to 1044 million packages.
As Business Credit told Interfax-Ukraine, the weighted average price of pharmacy basket goods in the first ten months of 2023 amounted to UAH 151.23, which is 21.7% more than a year earlier.
Pharmacy sales of medicines in ten months increased by 26.17% to almost UAH 123.604 billion. In physical terms, the retail pharmaceutical market grew by 6.78% to 739.212 million packs. Pharmacy sales in Ukraine in January-September 2023 increased by 21.56% compared to the same period in 2022 to UAH 126 billion, while in physical terms they decreased by 6.5% to 907.885 million packs.
Business Credit told Interfax-Ukraine that the weighted average price of pharmacy basket goods in the first nine months of 2023 amounted to UAH 138.78, which is 30% more than a year earlier.
Pharmacy sales of medicines increased by 19.39% in the first nine months of the year to almost UAH 98.556 billion. At the same time, in physical terms, the retail pharmaceutical market decreased by 4.66% to 637.465 million packs. The weighted average retail price of medicines in the first nine months of 2023 amounted to UAH 154.51, which is 25.22% more than a year earlier.
According to the company, sales growth in January-September in physical terms was recorded in the household chemicals segment (20.56%), dietary supplements (20%), mineral water (18.7%), medical cosmetics (17.59%) and special food products (7.63%).
In other segments, sales in volume terms decreased compared to the same period in 2022.

According to “Business Credit”, in monetary terms, the greatest sales dynamics in January-June 2023 were demonstrated by household chemicals (58.6% growth), mineral water (52.1%) and dietary supplements, sales of which increased by 51.2% – to UAH 8.452 billion.
At the same time, in physical terms, almost all products of the pharmacy basket showed negative dynamics, except for dietary supplements, sales of which increased by 22% – to 50.611 mln packs, household chemicals (17.64% growth), medical cosmetics (13.15% growth) and mineral water (9.62%).
As reported, in January-May 2023, pharmacy sales in Ukraine increased by 15.4% compared to the same period of 2022 – up to UAH 70.398 billion, sales of medicines – by 12.84%, up to UAH 55.249 billion.
Pharmacy sales in January-June 2023 increased by 19.4% compared to the same period of 2022 and amounted to almost UAH 84.127 billion.
According to a study by Business Credit, in physical terms, pharmacies sold 612.11 million packs in the first half of this year, which is 10% less than in January-June 2022.
According to the survey, the weighted average price of all goods of the pharmacy basket increased by almost a third (+33%) – up to UAH 137.44. At the same time, pharmacy sales of medicines in January-June 2023 increased to UAH 65.96 billion (+16.9%). The weighted average price of medicines amounted to UAH 153.8, which is 27.2% more than a year earlier. A total of 430.899 mln packs of medicines (-8.12%) were sold in the mentioned reporting period in the pharmacy network.
The report states that pharmacy sales of medical devices increased in the first half of 2023 by 9.83% – up to UAH 2.142 billion.
Among the leaders in terms of growth, in particular, mineral water, whose sales increased by 52.1% to UAH 432.537 million, and dietary supplements with an increase in sales by 51.17% to sales of January-June 2022, almost to UAH 8.453 billion.
At the same time, sales of products for parenteral administration of medicines decreased by 20% to UAH 230.483 mln.
