Ukraine’s top-ranked player Elina Svitolina reached 1/4 finals of WTA 1000 tournament in Rome

The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina defeated the “neutral” Anna Kalinska in two sets at the WTA 1000 ground tennis tournament in Rome, reports Suspilne. Sport” reports.

This is the tenth time in her career that Elina Svitolina has played in a tournament in Rome. Thanks to her place among the top seeds, the first seed of Ukraine began her performances in Italy with a crushing victory in the second round: she defeated Italian Sara Errani in two sets (6-0, 6-2).

In the third round, the Ukrainian met with a “neutral” tennis player Anna Kalynska. Reportedly, the athletes had never met on the court before the 1/16 finals of the Italian Open. Now, Svitolina has one victory in personal meetings.

Svitolina closed the first set with a 6-3 victory, in the second set the score was level until the fourth game, but in the fifth game Kalinska managed to win two break points, but eventually Svitolina took the lead and eventually won 6-3.

The match between Svitolina and Kalinska lasted 1:14 hours. During the game, the Ukrainian made one double fault. Svitolina also served a forehand once.

In the next round, Ukraine’s top-ranked player will meet the world’s second-ranked player, the “neutral” Arina Sabayenko.

Elina Svitolina won the championship twice in Rome: in 2017-2018. The last time the Ukrainian played in Rome was in 2023, when she was stopped in the first round by another Ukrainian, Lesia Tsurenko (4:6, 3:6).

Svitolina is the last representative of Ukraine at the WTA 1000 in Rome. Earlier, Diana Yastremska lost to Arina Sabayenko, and Angelina Kalinina was defeated by the eighth-ranked player in the world, Greek Maria Sakkari.

WIZZ АIR LAUNCHES FLIGHTS TO MILAN, BOLOGNA, ROME, PARDUBICE

Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air has announced the launch of flights to five new destinations from Ukraine.
As the airline’s press service said on Tuesday, in particular, from September 1, 2020 it is planned to launch flights from Lviv and Kyiv to Pardubice (the Czech Republic), and from March 2021 from Odesa to Milan (Malpensa), Rome (both starting from 29 March) and Bologna (from March 30).
The cost of a ticket without baggage starts from UAH 579.
As reported, in August 2020, Wizz Air intends to launch flights from Dortmund (Germany) to Zaporizhia, which is linked to the opening of an air carrier base in Dortmund.

UKRAINIAN ARTBUILD HOTEL GROUP PLANS TO OPEN HOTEL IN ROME

ArtBuild Hotel Group (ABHG, Kyiv) plans in October 2019 to open the Santa Sofia hotel of the economy+ class in Rome (Italy), managing partner of the company Oleksiy Yevchenko has told Interfax-Ukraine.
“In October, we open a hotel project in Rome. We have long been working in the international market as consultants, but our own hotel will appear abroad for the first time. The object is located in the tourist center of Rome, not far from the Coliseum. This is the reconstruction of a commercial apartment building for pilgrims into an economy+ hotel,” he said.
ArtBuild Hotel Group rented premises for the hotel.
The hotel has 50 rooms, a restaurant on the ground floor and a wine bar on the open roof terrace.
According to him, currently ArtBuild Hotel Group is also developing concepts for four hotels in Kyiv, another one in Rome and another in Budapest.
“Hotels will be represented in economy and midscale segments that are most popular in Kyiv now. They have different locations, but none of them will be located in the central part of Kyiv. One of them will be managed by ArtBuild Hotel Management,” the managing partner said.
ArtBuild Hotel Group is one of the first companies in Ukraine specializing in hotel fee development and consulting. The company implements hotel real estate projects in different segments.

ERNEST AIRLINES OPENS REGULAR FLIGHTS FROM KHARKIV TO ROME AND MILAN FROM MARCH 2019

Ernest Airlines (Italy) on March 21, 2019 plans to start operating regular flights from Kharkiv International Airport to Rome and Milan, the airport’s press service has reported.
Departure from Kharkiv will be three times a week on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The price of a one way ticket will start from EUR45, including hand luggage and taxes.
As reported, in September 2018 passenger traffic in Kharkiv airport was 88,900 people, which is 12% more than in the same period of 2017. In 2017 Kharkiv airport increased passenger traffic to 806,100 people (in 2016 the figure was 599,700 people.) In 2018 it is planned to raise it by another 12% (to 900,000 people).
In July 2018, passenger traffic amounted to 104,500 people, which is 20% more than in the same period of 2017 (87,200).
Kharkiv Airport has a runway with a length of 2,500 meters and a width of 50 meters. It has two passenger terminals with a capacity of 100 and 650 people per hour.
