In January-September this year, Ukraine increased exports of carbon steel semi-finished products in physical terms by 65.5% year-on-year to 1 million 529.919 thousand tons. According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS) on Tuesday, exports of carbon steel semi-finished products increased by 59.1% to $758.627 million in monetary terms.
The main exports were to Bulgaria (31.05% of supplies in monetary terms), Egypt (20.80%) and Turkey (10.08%).
In January-September 2024, Ukraine imported 5 tons of semi-finished products from Egypt for $5 thousand, while in January-September 2023, it imported 92 tons of semi-finished products from China for $169 thousand.
As reported, in 2023, Ukraine decreased exports of carbon steel semi-finished products in physical terms by 36.7% compared to 2022, to 1 million 203.454 thousand tons, while exports in monetary terms decreased by 48.9% to $608.516 million. The main exports were made to Bulgaria (36.66% of supplies in monetary terms), Poland (23.01%), and Italy (9.60%).
In addition, in 2023, Ukraine imported 96 tons of semi-finished products from China (98.26%) and Turkey (1.74%) for $172 thousand.
In January-November this year, Ukraine reduced exports of carbon steel semi-finished products in physical terms by 39.5% year-on-year to 1 million 104,735 thousand tons.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS), exports of carbon steel semi-finished products in monetary terms amounted to $562.108 million in the period (down 51%).
The main exports were made to Bulgaria (37.01% of supplies in monetary terms), Poland (23.19%) and Italy (9.89%).
In January-November, Ukraine imported 96 tons of semi-finished products from China (98.26%) and Turkey (1.74%) for $172 thousand, in September-November 2022, imports amounted to 5,558 thousand tons of such products.
As reported, in 2022, Ukraine decreased exports of carbon steel semi-finished products in physical terms by 72% compared to the previous year – to 1 million 899.729 thousand tons, and in monetary terms by 70.9% – to $1 billion 191.279 million. The main exports were made to Bulgaria (26.55% of supplies in monetary terms), Poland (13.97%) and Italy (12.13%).
In addition, Ukraine imported 5,558 thousand tons of similar products in 2022, which is 85.7% less than in 2021. In monetary terms, imports decreased by 86% to $3.634 million. Imports were carried out from the Russian Federation (96.92% of supplies before the war), China (1.84%), and Romania (1.21%).
Ukraine increased exports of semi-finished carbon steel in physical terms by 14.9%, to 3.509 million tonnes in January-June 2018 year-on-year.
Ukraine’s State Fiscal Service said in a customs statistics report that exports of semi-finished carbon steel in monetary terms grew by 45.1%, to $1.573 billion.
The bulk of semi-finished carbon steel was exported to Italy (34.84% of total exports in monetary terms), Turkey (18.27%), and Egypt (14.08%).
During the first six months of the year Ukraine imported 22,588 tonnes of semi-finished carbon steel, which is 73% up year-on-year. Imports in monetary terms grew by 76.2%, to $13.648 million.
Semi-finished carbon steel imports originated from Russia (96.07%), Kazakhstan (2.78%) and the United States (0.96%).
In 2017 Ukraine cut semi-finished carbon steel exports in physical terms by 18.8% from 2016, to 6.292 million tonnes, while exports in monetary terms increased by 14.9%, to $2.542 billion.
Italy accounted for 30.61% of exports in monetary terms, while the share of Turkey was 17.02% and that of Egypt – 16.28%.
Semi-finished carbon steel imports in 2017 totaled 22,038 tonnes, which was 20.1% up from 2016. Imports in monetary terms grew by 85.4%, to $12.091 million.
Most of semi-finished carbon steel was imported from Russia (95.48% of total imports), Kazakhstan (4.03%), and Bulgaria (0.25%).
