LARGEST SUGAR PRODUCER IN UKRAINE ASTARTA CUTS SALES BY 25%

Astarta, the largest sugar producer in Ukraine, over January-June and April-June 2021 reduced sugar sales compared to the same periods in 2020 by 25%, to 55,460 tonnes and 113,600 tonnes, respectively, while over the first half and the second quarter, the products sold by it went up by 66%, to UAH 17,280 per tonne and UAH 16,690 per tonne, respectively.
According to the company’s report on the Warsaw Stock Exchange on Friday evening, sales of corn by the agricultural holding in the second quarter of 2021 fell by 21% compared to the second quarter of 2020, to 78,650 tonnes, while the price increased by 9%, to UAH 4,950 per tonne. In the first half of this year, its sales decreased by 55%, to 151,290 tonnes with a rise in price of corn by 17%, UAH 5,270 per tonne.
In addition, in the second quarter of 2021, Astarta sold 34% less soybean meal than in the second quarter of 2020 – some 23,750 tonnes (with a rise in price of 45%, to UAH 14,570 per tonne); 49% less soybean oil – 4,210 tonnes (its price has doubled to UAH 37,840 per tonne); 5% more milk – 23,650 tonnes (it has risen in price by 20%, to UAH 11,600 per tonne); and also twice as much wheat – 2,240 tonnes (it has risen in price by a quarter, to UAH 6,550 per tonne). During the specified period, the company has increased sales of sunflower seeds 4-fold, to 135 tonnes, with their rise in price 2.7 times, to UAH 19,180 per tonne.
According to the results of the first half of 2021, Astarta sold 23% less soybean meal than in the first half of 2020 – some 63,520 tonnes (with a rise in price of 59% to UAH 14,960 per tonne); 13% less soybean oil – 16,840 tonnes (with a rise in price by 76%, to UAH 31,580 per tonne); 4% more milk – 47,850 tonnes (it has risen in price by 17%, to UAH 11,680 per tonne); and also 37% more wheat – 6,070 tonnes (it has risen in price by 56%, to UAH 7,410 per tonne). During this period, the company increased sales of sunflower seeds 37 times, to 3,720 tonnes, with their price doubling to UAH 11,590 per tonne.
Astarta is a vertically integrated agro-industrial holding operating in eight regions of Ukraine. It includes eight sugar factories, agricultural enterprises with a land bank of 243,000 hectares and dairy farms with 25,000 animals, seven elevators, a biogas complex and a soybean processing plant in Poltava region (Globino Processing Plant LLC).

LARGEST SUGAR PRODUCER IN UKRAINE ASTARTA SELLS SOME ASSETS

Astarta, the largest sugar producer in Ukraine, since the beginning of this year has sold Liaschivka (Cherkasy region) for EUR2.7 million, Agrosvit Savyntsi (Kharkiv region) for EUR1.93 million, and 95% of the shares of Novoivanivsky Sugar Factory (Kolomak, Kharkiv region) for EUR837,000, the total value of the sold assets amounted to EUR5.51 million.
According to data posted in the company’s annual report, in February 2021 the company transferred control over 100% of the shares of Liaschivka for EUR2.7 million (UAH 95.24 million). The agricultural enterprise with a charter capital of UAH 962.6 million is engaged in the cultivation of grain and leguminous crops, melons, root crops, as well as breeding cattle.
Astarta clarified that this transaction will be completed by the end of September 2021. According to the unified state register of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs, the ultimate beneficiaries of Liaschivka are Astarta CEO Viktor Ivanchyk and his wife Iryna Ivanchyk, who manage the asset through the agricultural association Tsukrovyk Poltavschyny LLC.
The agricultural holding noted that in March 2021 it sold to Serhiy Hrynko 100% of the shares of Agrosvit Savyntsi LLC for EUR 1.93 million (UAH 63.84 million). According to the unified state register, Serhiy Hrynko, together with Yehor Dorovsky, own C and G company in Kharkiv, which is engaged in renting out real estate.
The agricultural enterprise with a charter capital of UAH 2,000 is engaged in the cultivation of grain and leguminous crops, melons, root crops, as well as the cultivation of spicy, aromatic and medicinal crops.
In addition, in February 2021, Astarta sold 95% of shares in Novoivanivsky Sugar Factory for EUR 837,000 (UAH 28.5 million). Earlier it was reported that the agricultural holding is selling the asset due to a lack of raw materials in Kharkiv region, since sugar beets are not grown near this enterprise due to dry weather conditions.

LARGEST SUGAR PRODUCER IN UKRAINE PURCHASES 20 JOHN DEERE TRACTORS

Astarta agricultural holding, the largest sugar producer in Ukraine, has contracted 20 new 8R Series John Deere tractors’ engine range 320-370 horsepower equipped with AgriChain Farm production management modules, the company said in a press release.
“ASTARTA uses AgriChain as a single data system for agribusiness management, which is why the capability to integrate data from machinery with AgriChain modules is one of the key determinants in selecting the model and producer of the tractors,” Head of the Agriculture Division of the company Vadym Skrypnyk said.
The company said that during the operation of John Deere tractors, an open platform My John Deere collects and analyzes their telemetry data, which enables to monitor in real time technological operations, energy use, workload, idle periods and their causes, thereby providing management with the opportunity to receive a comprehensive range of data for agricultural production management.
According to Astarta, during the implementation of the second stage of its five-year investment program aimed at upgrading its agricultural machinery, the first seven units have already been received in 2021. The remaining 13 will be supplied soon. In 2020, the company purchased 31 John Deere tractors.

UKRAINE PRODUCED 480,300 TONNES OF SUGAR BY NOV 2

Sugar production in Ukraine as of November 2, 2020 amounted to 480,300 tonnes.
According to a report on the website of the National Association of Sugar Producers Ukrtsukor, as of this date, 30 sugar refineries were operating in the country, which processed 3.66 million tonnes of sugar beet.
As reported with reference to Ukrtsukor, the sugar beet processing season started in the country on September 5.
Sugar production in Ukraine in 2020 is projected at 1.2 million tonnes, which is 15% less than a year earlier. It is expected that 33 sugar refineries will operate this season – the same number as last year.
According to the State Statistics Service, in 2020, the area sown with sugar beet amounted to 218,900 hectares – at the level of last year.

Sugar production in Ukraine as of October 12, 2020 amounted to 168,400 tonnes.
According to a report on the website of the Ukrtsukor National Association of Sugar Producers, as of the indicated date 20 sugar factories were operating in the country, which processed 1.25 million tonnes of sugar beets.
As reported with reference to Ukrtsukor, the sugar beet processing season in Ukraine started on September 5.

Sugar production in Ukraine as of October 1, 2020 amounted to 92,600 tonnes.
According to a report on the website of the Ukrtsukor National Association of Sugar Producers, as of this date, 15 sugar factories were operating in the country, which processed 719,000 tonnes of sugar beets.
As reported with reference to Ukrtsukor, the sugar beet processing season in Ukraine started on September 5.
Sugar production in the country in 2020 is projected at 1.2 million tonnes, which is 15% less than a year earlier. It is expected that 33 sugar factories will operate this season, at the level of last year.
According to the State Statistics Service, in 2020, the area sown with sugar beets amounted to 218,900 hectares, at the level of last year.
