Ukraine increased tin imports to $2.6 mln in January-October

Ukrainian enterprises increased imports of tin and tin products by 15.9% to $2.647 million in January-October this year ($561 thousand in October).
Exports of tin and tin products amounted to $349 thousand (in October – $3 thousand) against $57 thousand in the same period a year earlier. At the same time, imports of tin and tin products decreased by 23% to $2.728 million.
Exports of tin and tin products amounted to $159 thousand against $424 thousand in 2022.
Tin is used mainly as a safe, non-toxic, corrosion-resistant coating in its pure form or in alloys with other metals. The main industrial applications of tin are in white tinplate (tinned iron) for food containers, in solders for electronics, in house pipelines, in bearing alloys, and in coatings made of tin and its alloys. The most important tin alloy is bronze (with copper).

In January-September this year, Ukrainian enterprises increased imports of tin and tin products by 1.7% to $2.086 million ($244 thousand in September). Exports of tin and tin products amounted to $346 thousand (in September – $2 thousand) against $57 thousand in the same period a year earlier.

Ukraine increased imports of zinc and tin in January-June

According to the customs authorities, in January-June this year, Ukrainian companies increased imports of tin by 19.5% to $1.350 million ($330 thousand in June) and increased imports of zinc and zinc products by 37.4% to $28.340 million ($5.110 million in June).
Tin is used as a safe, non-toxic, corrosion-resistant coating in its pure form or in alloys with other metals. The main industrial applications of tin are in food packaging, electronics solders, and bearing alloys. The most important tin alloy is bronze (with copper).

Ukraine in January-April reduced imports of lead, but increased imports of tin

According to customs statistics released by the State Customs Service of Ukraine on Friday, Ukraine reduced imports of lead and lead products by 13.8% – to $406 thousand (in April – $124 thousand), imports of tin and tin products increased by 10.2% – to $887 thousand (in April – $267 thousand). Exports of lead and lead products decreased by 35.3% to $3.537 mln.
As reported, Ukraine in 2023 reduced imports of lead and lead products by 65.2% – to $989 thousand, imports of tin and tin products – by 23% – to $2.728 million. Exports of tin and tin products amounted to $159 thousand against $424 thousand for 2022.
Zinc exports for 2022 totaled $1.331 million, compared to $550 thousand in 2021. Exports of tin and products totaled $424 thousand in 2022, compared to $346 thousand the previous year.
Lead is used to make bullets and shot. It is part of many alloys, such as bearing alloys, printing alloy, tin-lead solder, bronzes and brasses. .
Tin is often used as a protective coating due to these properties. It is the main constituent of solder and babbitts, typographic alloys and bronzes.

Ukraine reduced imports of lead and tin in January-February, but increased purchases of zinc

According to customs statistics released by the State Customs Service of Ukraine on Wednesday, Ukraine reduced imports of lead and lead products by 30.9% to $141 thousand (in February – $7 thousand), imports of tin and tin products by 5.8% to $507 thousand (in February – $247 thousand), and increased imports of zinc and zinc products by 55.6% to $6,406 (in February – $2,312 million).

Exports of lead and lead products decreased by 41.8% to $1.758 million (in February – $885 thousand), nickel and nickel products amounted to $50 thousand (in February – $47 thousand), while in January-February 2023 it was $92 thousand.

Zinc exports for the two months of this year amounted to $19 thousand (in February – $11 thousand), while in January-February 2023 it was $24 thousand. Exports of tin and products amounted to $24 thousand (in February – $24 thousand, in January there were no exports) against $18 thousand in the same period a year earlier.

At the same time, Ukraine reduced imports of lead and lead products by 65.2% to $989 thousand, imports of tin and tin products by 23% to $2.728 million, but increased imports of zinc and zinc products by 18.8% to $45.966 million.

In 2023, the company exported $130 thousand worth of zinc, compared to $1.331 million in 2022. Exports of tin and tin products amounted to $159 thousand against $424 thousand in 2022.

Imports of tin and tin products fell by 33.5% to $3.312 million, while imports of zinc and zinc products decreased by 58.7% to $38.690 million. Zinc exports in 2022 amounted to $1.331 million, while in 2021 they amounted to $550 thousand. Exports of tin and tin products in 2022 amounted to $424 thousand against $346 thousand in the previous year.

Ukraine reduced imports of lead and tin over 8 months

In January-August of this year, Ukrainian enterprises reduced imports of lead and lead products by 67.9% to $722 thousand ($9 thousand), imports of tin and tin products by 33.8% to $1.633 million ($208 thousand), but increased imports of zinc and zinc products by 10.1% to $28.775 million ($3.934 million).

Exports of aluminum and aluminum products in January-August this year decreased by 4.8% compared to the same period last year to $63.289 million ($8.201 million in August), lead and lead products increased by 13.6% to $9.866 million ($0.876 million), nickel and nickel products amounted to $201 thousand ($76 thousand), while in 8 months. 2022 it was $1.339 million.

Imports of tin and tin products fell by 33.5% to $3.312 million, while imports of zinc and zinc products decreased by 58.7% to $38.690 million.
