Anticorruption bodies notified about suspicion of 10 more persons involved in “Ukrgasbank” case

Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies have notified 10 more individuals involved in the Ukrhazbank case on suspicion of illegal activities of officials, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office said.
“Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the SAP, NABU detectives notified the suspicion of 10 more participants of the organized group, led by the ex-chairman of the board of JSB “Ukrgasbank” which illegally withdrew from the financial institution 206 million UAH”, – said in a message of the SAP in the telegram channel on Tuesday.
In the SAP emphasize that according to the investigation, the bank’s employees exactly with these figures, who allegedly were “agents” of the bank and attracted large customers to him, provided the conclusion of contracts to receive from the bank “remuneration”.
“It turned out that most of these subjects (individual entrepreneurs, self-employed and legal entities) were registered solely to participate in this scheme and after receiving funds stopped their activities,” the report says.
The prosecutor’s office specifies that five of the defendants are abroad, their suspicion was reported under article 278, article 135 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine.
“To date, the total number of participants in the scheme is 15 people, including the ex-chairman of the board of “Ukrgasbank”, – is indicated in the message.
The SAP reminds that the management of the bank, having information about the agreements concluded with major clients on the placement of funds, used it to steal funds.
The investigation found that during 2014-2019 under this scheme, 52 such agents unreasonably transferred funds of the state bank in the amount of more than 206 million hryvnia.
On October 6, 2022 in the mentioned criminal proceedings 5 main figures of this crime, including the former head of the board of “Ukrgasbank”, former and current officials of banking institutions were reported on suspicion.

Ukrgasbank made changes in the Supervisory Board

State-owned Ukrgasbank (Kyiv) on September 14 terminated the powers of members of the Supervisory Board (SB) – representatives of the shareholder Denis Ulyutin and Andrey Svistun, who held them for a year and nine months and four months, respectively.
According to a message in the data disclosure system, director of U4 Ukraine Yana Bugrimova and ex-Minister of Social Policy Marina Lazebnaya have been appointed in their place.
JSB “Ukrgasbank” was founded in 1993. The state, represented by the Ministry of Finance, owns 94.94% of the shares of the financial institution.
According to the data of the National Bank of Ukraine, as of June 1, 2022, Ukrgasbank ranked 5th (UAH 129.52 billion) among 69 banks operating in the country in terms of total assets.

Ukrgasbank repaid UAH 1 billion of NBU refinancing ahead of schedule

The state-owned Ukrgasbank (Kyiv) repaid ahead of schedule UAH 1 billion of refinancing received from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) this year, the bank’s press service reported on Tuesday.
“On August 30, the state-owned Ukrgasbank made an early repayment of a refinancing loan in the amount of UAH 1 billion received from the NBU this year. The repayment was due to the positive dynamics of attracting funds from legal entities and individuals in August this year,” the report says.

According to the data of the National Bank of Ukraine, as of July 1, 2022, Ukrgasbank ranked 5th (UAH 139.671 billion) in terms of total assets among 68 banks operating in the country.

LOANS ISSUED BY UKRGASBANK RAISES UP BY 22% IN 2021

The number of loans issued by state-owned Ukrgasbank (Kyiv) increased by 22% in 2021, the bank’s press service reported.
According to the report, the bank’s loan portfolio increased by UAH 7 billion last year.
“In 2021, more than 300 eco-loans worth UAH 2 billion were issued, which ensured a reduction in CO2 emissions by 140,000 tonnes. Among them, about UAH 500 million are sustainable development projects,” Andriy Kravets, the head of the bank’s board of directors, said.

UKRGASBANK TRIPLES MORTGAGE LOANS ISSUED IN 2021

State-owned Ukrgasbank (Kyiv) issued mortgage loans totaling UAH 1.25 billion, which is 3.1 times more than in 2020 (UAH 401.8 million), the bank’s press service reported on Tuesday, January 18.
According to the report, the bank issued more than 1,500 mortgage loans, including 327 loans worth UAH 325 million for the purchase of housing in the primary market and 1,220 loans worth UAH 925 million for the purchase of housing in the secondary market.
It is indicated that under the Affordable Mortgage 7% program, since the beginning of its operation, the bank has issued 257 loans in the amount of UAH 250 million.

NET PROFIT OF STATE-RUN UKRGASBANK GROWS BY 2.6 TIMES IN JAN-SEPT 2021

Net profit of Ukrgasbank (Kyiv) in January-September 2021 amounted to UAH 1.748 billion, which is 2.6 times more than in the same period of 2020 (UAH 685.19 million), according to the bank’s quarterly report posted on his website.
According to it, in the third quarter Ukrgasbank’s net profit amounted to UAH 1.021 billion, which is 4.1 times more than in the same period in 2020 (UAH 248 million)
The bank’s net interest income (after deductions on credit losses) in January-September 2021 grew 2.4 times compared to the same indicator a year earlier, from UAH 1.28 billion to UAH 3.131 billion, net fee and commission income rose by 27.5%, to UAH 1.108 billion.
Ukrgasbank’s assets in January-September 2021 fell by 21% to UAH 112.77 billion, and cash and cash equivalents by 23.8%, to UAH 26.88 billion, while loans to customers and finance lease grew by 4.8%, to UAH 49.82 billion
In addition, the bank’s investments, which are measured at fair value through other comprehensive income, decreased 1.7 times in January-September 2021, to UAH 32.08 billion, while investment property remained at the level of UAH 149.255 million.
Liabilities of Ukrgasbank in January-September fell by 33.3%, to UAH 102.9 billion, including customer funds decreased by 28%, to UAH 91.125 billion, while funds from credit institutions increased 46%, to UAH 8.28 billion, and provisions for guarantees, liabilities and legal risks grew by 1.7 times, to UAH 702.9 million.
The bank’s equity capital in January-September 2021 grew by 15.7%, to UAH 9.9 billion. The charter capital remained at the level of UAH 13.84 billion.
