Electrotyazhmash together with its main partner Turboatom (Kharkiv) sees an opportunity to increase the order portfolio for JSC Ukrhydroenergo, which operates all major hydroelectric power stations in the Ukrainian sections of the Dnipro and Dniester Rivers, by two to three times in the next two years, Viktor Busko, who was suspended at his request from performing the duties of director general of the enterprise, has said.
“At present, together with the main partner Turboatom, a project is underway to modernize Ukrhydroenergo’s turbo generating equipment, in the future it is planned to jointly participate in no less large projects at Ukrainian nuclear power plants. The prospect of working with Ukrhydroenergo is very serious. We see an opportunity to increase the portfolio of orders by two to three times over the next two years,” Busko told Interfax-Ukraine.
He recalled that such large projects are exhibited according to international procurement procedures and attract all the world’s top manufacturers of generators and turbines.
“However, we are confident in our abilities and Electrotyazhmash has every chance not only to compete, but also to receive these orders, subject to careful preparation of documents and a very balanced approach to pricing its services. Our products are not inferior in quality, while there’s not a single reason why our price should be higher than the Austrian or American,” he said.
He said that there were debts for the delivered products in the Electrotyazhmash-Turboatom-Ukrhydroenergo supply chain.
Private joint-stock company Ukrhydroenergo in 2018 saw a 2.5-fold rise in net profit compared with 2019, to UAH 3.668 billion, the company’s press service has reported.
Net revenue grew by 39.25, to UAH 7.961 billion.
As reported, in 2017, the company saw a 33.7% fall in net profit, to UAH 1.466 billion. Net revenue decreased 4.7%, to UAH 5.716 billion.

The total installed electric capacity of the hydropower plants of the company (103 hydroelectric units) is 5,758 MW. PJSC Ukrhydroenergo in January-September 2018 saw net profit rise by 22% compared to the same period of the previous year, to UAH 2.298 billion.
According to the financial statements posted on the company’s website, net income for the three quarters grew by 21% (UAH 991 million) and amounted to UAH 5.524 billion, gross profit by 29%, to UAH 3.272 billion.
As reported, in 2017 Ukrhydroenergo saw net profit fall by 33.7% (UAH 744.185 million) compared to 2016, to UAH 1.466 billion, net income by 4.7% (UAH 281.413 million), to UAH 5.716 billion, gross profit by 12.6% (UAH 423.322 million), to UAH 2.949 billion.

Ukrhydroenergo by the end of this year seeks to hold a tender to attract a partner with experience of extending operating lives of hydroelectric facilities, Ukrhydroenergo CEO Ihor Syrota said at a press conference in Vyshgorod (Kyiv region). “The scientific and technical panel would soon determine the terms of reference: what research and works should be carried out to make decisions on extension of operating lives of hydroelectric facilities. After receiving the terms of reference we will hold a tender to select persons who have the respective experience. It is likely that they would be foreigners. There might be a Ukrainian company, but with the involvement of foreign experienced experts,” he said.
Syrota said that the projected operating life of hydroelectric facilities of Ukrainian hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) is 100 years. For the Dnipro HPP it would expire in 15 years and for the rest of the plants – later. “However, we start working on the issue of the extension of the operating lives now,” he said. He said that Ukraine need to design a core document regulating the extension of operating lives of hydroelectric facilities and have approved it by the Cabinet of Ministers or the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry.
