Ukraine ranked second in mobile internet speed among countries with comparable GDP

15 October , 2026

Ukraine ranked second in average mobile download speeds among countries with a per capita GDP ranging from $3,800 to $6,500, according to data from nPerf, an international platform for measuring internet connection quality, for July–September 2026.
The average mobile download speed in Ukraine during this period was 80.17 Mbit/s. By comparison, the figure was 63.83 Mbit/s in Morocco and 47.55 Mbit/s in Algeria.
Thus, Ukraine outperformed Morocco by 16.34 Mbit/s, or approximately 26%, and Algeria by 32.62 Mbit/s, or nearly 69%.
According to nPerf’s calculations, at a speed of about 80 Mbit/s, downloading a 5 GB HD movie takes less than nine minutes. In Morocco, at an average speed of 63.83 Mbit/s, a similar download takes more than 11 minutes.
The comparison was made between countries with similar levels of economic development. This approach allows for an assessment of the effectiveness of telecommunications infrastructure not only in absolute terms but also relative to the economic capabilities of the countries.
The range used by nPerf corresponds to current macroeconomic data. According to World Bank data, Ukraine’s GDP per capita in 2025 was approximately $5,870, Algeria’s was $6,050, and Morocco’s was $4,670.
nPerf is a French independent platform for measuring the performance of fixed and mobile networks. Its statistics are generated based on tests that users perform through the nPerf app and partner services. Before rankings are generated, the results undergo automated verification and filtering.
