Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that this year Ukrainian railroad workers have restored more than 700 km of tracks destroyed by the enemy, the government portal website reports.
“Railroad workers not only ensure the movement of passengers and goods, but also restore everything that the enemy destroyed. This year alone, more than 700 kilometers of tracks have been restored,” he said.
It is reported that rolling stock is also being repaired, and new services and new opportunities are being introduced for passengers. “We are implementing ambitious plans for integration into the European railway space,” the Prime Minister added.
The head of government also noted that on the occasion of the Railroader’s Day he got acquainted with the new railcars of Ukrzaliznytsia. It is noted that one of them was repaired at the expense of the company, and the second, which is for children, was created in cooperation with UNICEF.
The Prime Minister also inspected a new modern railcar manufactured by Kryukiv Carriage Works on behalf of the state.
“It is important that Ukrainian companies receive more such orders, as this supports the Ukrainian economy,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
Meanwhile, Shmyhal presented certificates of honor to Ukrainian railroad workers.
“Railways are our arteries of life that connect Ukraine from west to east, from south to north… I congratulate you on your professional holiday and thank you for everything you do for our sustainability and victory,” Shmyhal said.
