GRANDIOSE NEW YEAR AND CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS NEAR KYIV

The grandiose «Winter Fairy Tale» show-program, dedicated to the New Year and Christmas holidays is taking place in the «Kyivan Rus Park». Till January, 19 bright shows with special effects and horse-trick performances, ancient Slavic Winter amusements, tasty dishes prepared on fire, horse riding, master-classes, round dances, games and prize draws will be waiting for the guests.

ONLY 25% UKRAINIANS SUPPORT IDEA OF SHIFTING CELEBRATION OF CHRISTMAS FROM JAN 7 TO DEC 25

Only one in four (25%) Ukrainians supports the idea of shifting the celebration of Christmas from January 7 to December 25, while 64% of the citizens are against, according to a survey conducted by the Sociological Group Rating on December 5-8.
According to the survey, 25% of Ukrainians surveyed support the idea of postponing Christmas celebrations from January 7 to December 25, 64% of respondents are against such an idea, another 7% said that they were indifferent to this issue and 4% found it difficult to answer.
It is noted that the number of those who support the shifting of the date of the celebration of Christmas has increased in dynamics (in 2016 only 15% supported this idea, 69% were against it).
Thus, the majority of supporters of the idea of transferring Christmas are in the west: 43% support and almost the same number of respondents do not support. In other macro-regions, the respondents were more likely to oppose the shifting: 23% in the centre supported the idea and 66% were against, in the south – 15% and 74% respectively, and in the east – 14% and 74%. In addition, wealthier people, and middle-aged and older respondents support this initiative a little more.
The Sociological Group Rating polled the population of Ukraine of 18 years and older. The sample is representative by region, type of settlement, region, age, and gender. Some 2,000 respondents were polled through personal formalized interview (face-to-face). The study representativeness error is not more than 2.2%.

UKRAINE WILL REST TWICE FOUR DAYS RUNNING ON NEW YEAR’S AND CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS

Ukrainians will have two blocks of days off four consecutive days each on New Year’s and Christmas holidays. According to the decree of the government on the shift of the working days in 2019, there will be four days off in a row for the New Year in Ukraine: from Sunday, December 29, to Wednesday, January 1, in the new 2020. Working days from Monday, December 30, were postponed to Saturday, December 21, and from Tuesday, December 31 to Saturday, December 28.
According to the decree of the government on the shift of the working days in 2020, four days off in a row are expected again: from Saturday, January 4, to Tuesday, January 7; since the working day from Monday, January 6, is postponed to Saturday, January 11.
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) sets special hours of operation of banks and bank establishments on these days.

NEAR KYIV CHRISTMAS WILL BE CELEBRATED BY TRADITIONS OF OUR ANCESTORS

On January, 6-7, 2019 traditional celebrations and Slavic amusements, interactive musical show with special effects, horse riding, the masters fair, delicious hot dishes and drinks, horse riding, the Nativity Scene, and traditional Ukrainian Christmas songs there will be for the guests of “The Kievan Rus Park”.
