The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection of Ukraine and the authorized body of Japan have agreed on the form of the veterinary certificate for exporting raw milk and dairy products to Japan, the service said on its website on Tuesday.
“We continue work towards expanding cooperation with international partners. This is very good news for Ukrainian producers interested in the export of raw milk and dairy products: the market of one of the largest strategic partners for Ukrainian food exports – Japan – has been opened,” the head of the authority, Vladyslava Mahaletska, said.
The State Food and Consumer Service said that the website has the example of a veterinary certificate for export to Japan.
Milk production in Ukraine decreased by 4.1%, to 8.02 million tonnes in January-October 2020 (excluding the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, Sevastopol, the Joint Forces Operation zone) compared to the same period in 2019.
According to the State Statistics Service, 2.71 million tonnes of meat (live weight) were produced in the ten months, which is 1.2% less than in January-October of the previous year.
Egg production decreased by 1.6%, to 14.09 billion eggs for the reporting period.
According to the State Statistics Service, milk production in Ukraine in 2019 decreased by 3.6%, to 9.7 million tonnes compared to 2018. Egg production increased by 3.4% to 16.68 billion in 2019, and meat (live weight) by 5.3%, to 3.49 million tonnes.
Milk Alliance has invested EUR 1 million in launching a mozzarella production line with a production capacity of 10 tonnes of product per day.
“We have the Big Construction project this year. The smiling Italian technologist in the photo is finishing setting up the automated line of COMAT for the production of mozzarella … Until the end of October, it will be in trade. It is one of the reconstruction projects in 2020. The investment is EUR 1 million. Some 10 tonnes of product per day. We focus on both the domestic market and export,” co-owner of Milk Alliance Oleksandr Derkach said on his Facebook page.
Milk Alliance was established in June 2006 as a holding company with a charter capital of UAH 23.5 million and a 99.9% balance sheet consisting of long-term financial investments.
Milk Alliance in the first half of 2020 increased output of dairy products by 4% compared to the same period in 2019, to 76,950 tonnes, while 7,940 tonnes of products were exported, which is 27% less than for the same period in 2019.
Milk production in Ukraine in January-May 2020 decreased by 3.6% compared to the same period in 2019, to 3.64 million tonnes.
According to the State Statistics Service, over the five months of this year, 1.41 million tonnes of meat (in live weight) were produced, which is 1% more than in January-May of the previous year.
Egg production over the five months of this year fell by 0.4%, to 6.99 billion eggs.

Vitmark-Ukraine has begun production of vegetable milk under the brand Vega Milk at a factory in Odesa region.
According to the company’s press release, Vitmark-Ukraine built a plant in Odesa region for EUR 5 million with a full cycle of vegetable milk production. The plant is equipped with equipment from Sweden, it also has its own storage workshops, processing equipment, aseptic packaging bottling lines. The plant processes oats, buckwheat, and wheat.
“Our business specializes in juices, drinks and baby food. Having opened the alternative milk line, we launched an extremely promising start-up – the innovative FoodTech, which combines technology and science,” President of Vitmark-Ukraine Vitaliy Vinnytsky said.
The company noted that within a few weeks it will be possible to find up to 11 names of Vega Milk vegetable milk in stores in Ukraine: on the basis of cereals, nuts and with the addition of fruits.
Vitmark-Ukraine indicated that alternative milk from herbal ingredients has shown rapid growth in recent years as a category, especially in North America and Europe.
“Some $40 billion is the approximate amount the experts estimate the world market of vegetable milk by 2024,” the company said.
Milk production in Ukraine in January-September 2019 decreased by 3.5% compared to the same period in 2018, to 7.61 million tonnes.
According to the State Statistics Service, in January-September 2019, farmers produced 2.42 million tonnes of meat (live weight), which is 6.4% more than in the same period of 2018.
Egg production grew by 4.3%, to 13.02 billion units.
