KYIV. July 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine shipped 4,123 tonnes of cheese onto foreign markets in January-June, 2017, which was 21.3% higher than the same period of 2016.
The shipments increased by 47% in monetary terms, to $14.35 million, Ukraine’s State Fiscal Service said in its customs statistics reports.
Cheese imports in the period under review totaled 4,320 tonnes, an increase by 33.3% compared to the same period last year. The country imported products worth $19.12 million (imports in January-June 2016 were estimated at $13.16 million).
At the same time, exports of butter from Ukraine in January-June 2017 increased by 3.1 times, to 12,270 tonnes. Shipments in monetary terms amounted to almost $44.802 million against $10.93 million in January-June 2016. Butter imports in the six months fell almost 66.7%: from 689 tonnes ($2.25 million) to 231 tonnes ($1.17 million).
Exports of condensed milk and cream in January-June 2017 decreased by 10.7%, to 23,330 tonnes. Ukraine supplied condensed milk and cream to the tune of $40.4 million, which was 13.7% more than in January-June 2016 ($35.53 million).
As was reported, Ukraine in 2016 exported 8,050 tonnes of cheese, which was 25.6% less than in 2015. Imports of cheeses increased by 31.2%, to 7,060 tonnes.
