A new plant for the production of textured wafer sheets and other dough-based products (tartlets, ice cream wafers, dessert trays, etc.) will start producing products in the summer of 2025, the Office of Sustainable Regional Development reports on Facebook.
“We have started the next construction of a new production facility. The team of the Investment Office of Ternopil Region provided full support to investors in the construction of a new plant for the production of semi-finished food products,” the post says.
It does not specify who exactly is the investor in the construction of the plant.
The report notes that the full range of investment support was provided, including diagnostics of the investor’s requests and technical requirements, selection of land plots suitable for the construction of the building (70 locations were analyzed), negotiations with the local community on individual conditions and preferences, legal review of the terms of the land lease agreement, selection of a design organization and potential contractors.
“All these services made it possible to start preparatory work in October and obtain a construction permit,” the statement said.
It is noted that for the local community, this will mean 250 jobs with competitive wages, exports to more than 12 countries, including all of Europe, the United States, Israel, and Tunisia, more than UAH 20 million a year in taxes to the local budget, demand for rental and purchase of housing, which automatically stimulates the local construction business and real estate market development.
“Ultimately, one hryvnia of direct investment in new production creates at least UAH 2.7-3 in related industries,” the report says.
In Ukraine, one of the largest manufacturers of wafer semi-finished products (B2B and B2C) is Lecorna, founded in 1998 (Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv region), which calls itself a leader in the production of such products. It has the capacity to produce 270 cubic meters of products per day.
According to its website, the company’s customers include ATB, Fozzy Group, Metro, Auchan, Billa, as well as large chains in 10 countries (Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, the United States, Israel, Libya, and the United States).
In 2023, according to the Clarity Project, its revenue amounted to UAH 222.3 million and net profit was UAH 44.8 million.
