Unified platform for providing wheeled vehicles to Armed Forces of Ukraine has been launched

On Thursday, at a press conference at the Kyiv City State Administration, the Heroicar project presented a unified platform for providing wheeled vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The event was attended by veterans of the volunteer battalion of the Azov Army, the head of the Heroicar project, representatives of the Women of Steel organization, and Akhtem Seitablaev, a well-known film director and project ambassador.

When discussing the supply of vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the experts emphasized the importance of constantly replenishing the military with working wheeled vehicles and concluded that creating a centralized system for the supply and maintenance of vehicles in the context of public-private partnerships is the most effective way to solve the problem.

“Last year, more than 60,000 vehicles were imported to Ukraine for the needs of the Armed Forces. The average service life of wheeled vehicles in war is 2-9 weeks. We need to send vehicles to the frontline constantly. This is the key to our victory. But it is not enough to supply vehicles to the military. They also need to be serviced and repaired in a timely manner. We need to check the needs of the military for these vehicles. In the old days, Cossacks used to have horses, but today these horses have become steel, just like our Cossacks who are fighting for their freedom,” said Oleg Petrenko, a veteran of the AZOV volunteer battalion and coordinator of the Support AZOV charity foundation.

“We have created a unified national platform for the supply of vehicles for the Armed Forces. As part of this platform, we collect applications for wheeled vehicles, verify them with the Armed Forces, purchase the vehicles that are needed at the front, bring them to the required technical condition for operation at the front, deliver them to the Armed Forces and carry out maintenance together with our partners. The main task is to make the whole process as transparent and efficient as possible for the benefit of our military. We have established deliveries of vehicles from the US, Europe and Korea and can provide the Armed Forces with any kind of transport, but right now there is a need for pickup trucks. That is why we are supplying Ford F-250 and Ford F-350. These are very powerful frame trucks with a 6-liter diesel engine. Any man-portable air defense system or machine gun can be mounted on such a pickup. The body capacity of the first model is 1.5-1.8 tons, the second – up to 2.5 tons. Some of the vehicles we have sent to the front line have already been equipped with full-fledged anti-aircraft systems that weigh 2.2 tons. The vehicle works perfectly and performs its tasks,” said Oleksandr Pugach, Project Manager of the Heroicar project.

Within the platform, any military or civilian can apply for a vehicle. The application will then be verified by the Armed Forces and the fundraising process will begin. Within 30 days of completion, the car will be at the front. The project also takes care of the maintenance of the vehicles, including repairs and technical inspections. Each vehicle has a plate on the dashboard with a phone number to call for all technical issues.

Heroicar has already delivered 19 vehicles as part of the “Guardians of the Sky” project – mobile air defense fire teams that use machine guns and man-portable air defense systems to hunt drones and missiles that protect the skies in central Ukraine and Kyiv. 3 vehicles are operating in eastern Ukraine. Another 10 vehicles are on the way. We have also delivered 4 Volkswagen T4 buses for cargo transportation. Now we are delivering vehicles to various brigades of the Azov regiment and to military units on the front line. HeroCar is already accepting applications from the military.
“I am the wife and sister of a defender. I have three brothers – in captivity, in the sky and at the border. I know that vehicles on the front line are a consumable that is vital for our defenders. That is why I am appealing to everyone to help buy pickup trucks for the 93rd Kholodny Yar Brigade, which is in the middle of hell today. They are defending Bakhmut. They need to remain mobile and highly effective in the fight against the enemy,” said Sofia Cherepanova, a representative of Women of Steel.
This application, along with others, has already been posted on the HeroCar platform.

To support our military, Hero Car has launched a large-scale campaign. The vehicles that will soon be sent to the front, along with those that have already been through the war, can be seen near the Kyiv City State Administration and in 5 other shopping centers in Kyiv. Near the vehicles, you can meet Azov soldiers who can talk to you personally and learn firsthand about the need for wheeled vehicles. And for a donation to the vehicles for the military, you can get a unique sticker pack.

Get involved. Together, the path to victory will be shorter.

New book: “Saving Pets (and People) in Ukraine”

Kormotech’s Save Pets of Ukraine initiative has released a charity book about saving animals and their loving people from war. All proceeds will be used to help the four-legged friends

Two women who managed to take 47 cats from Kyiv to Germany at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The military and dogs are “at zero”. A couple who rescued pets from locked abandoned apartments. A lady with more than 60 dogs. Cats who warmed and calmed their people in the most disturbing moments. A girl who started sleeping better thanks to her dog. These are just a few of the characters in the book Saving Pets (and People) in Ukraine, published by the team of the social initiative Save Pets of Ukraine. This is a collection of inspiring stories with happy endings about cats, dogs, their owners and volunteers who were forced to evacuate from the war and supported each other. And also about the people who take care of a large number of four-legged animals on a daily basis. These are stories about how people save animals, and they save their caring people in return.
The book aims to draw attention to stray animals in Ukraine, which have become much more numerous over the past year. According to the study, this number has increased by 20-30% in the rear regions and by 100% or more in shelters in the frontline regions. Thus, 25,799 dogs and 19,473 cats are under the care of shelters and volunteers. The study was conducted by the Ukrainian public opinion research center SociOinform at the request of Kormotech, Ukraine’s largest manufacturer of cat and dog food, which founded the national initiative Save Pets of Ukraine in 2022.
The book also presents stories of four-legged adoption, which may serve as an example for readers. After all, adopting stray animals into families is the best and most humane way to reduce the number of tails in shelters and on the streets. Thus, a few weeks before the book’s release, when the editor of one of the national TV channels learned about it, he signed up for an interview to take a cat into his family.

All proceeds from the sale of Saving Pets (and People) in Ukraine will be used to help dog and cat shelters.

Ukrtruboprom companies cut production of pipes by 38%

In 2022, Ukrtruboprom has reduced the production of pipes by 37.9% compared to the previous year – down to 449.7 thousand tons.
According to the association, all the plants showed negative dynamics last year. “Interpipe Niko Tube and Trubostal decreased their production of seamless pipes by 31.1% and 61.6%, respectively, Centravis – stainless pipes by 38.3%, Interpipe NMTZ – electric-welded pipes by 67.1%. The production of tubes at Oskar fell by 20%, and only Ukrtruboizol, an IPO, reached the level of production the year before last.
At the same time it is reminded that Dnepropetrovsk pipe plant is idle and is in the state of liquidation.
Director General of Ukrtruboprom Association Georgiy Polskiy noted that at the end of winter last year, after the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, virtually the entire pipe industry came to a halt. Nevertheless, later on the plants managed to partially restore production, and in the summer to have a stable load, although we cannot speak about pre-war volumes.
“A new test for the industry was the enemy strikes on the energy infrastructure facilities. The peak of the rocket attacks was in November-December, the country was several times plunged into blackout, pipe plants were limited by power supply and could not work rhythmically. As a result the production of pipes by the end of the year dropped below April 2022. On the whole, the last year output of pipes in Ukraine went down by 38%,” says the head of the Association.
He says that break up of the traditional logistic schemes, in particular, blocking of the Ukrainian seaports at the Black Sea, had an extremely negative influence on the industry. As a result, the companies used longer routes for exporting their products through Western border crossings and European seaports. This led to a rise in logistics costs by 2-3 times and hit the cost of Ukrainian products.
“Since autumn, pipe companies have had another challenge – export of scrap metal. From October to December the volume of exports reached about 25 thousand tons, increasing the deficit in the domestic market. At the beginning of 2023 the problem became catastrophic, because only in two months of this year export of scrap metal has already reached 23 thousand tons. This threatens the stable work of Ukrainian pipe enterprises”, – said Polskyy.
As reported, Ukraine in 2021 increased the production of pipes by 15.1% compared with the previous year – up to 980.7 thousand tons, including enterprises “Ukrtruboprom” increased their production by 32.6% – to 710.5 tons.

Medical laboratory CSD LAB became first private laboratory, which signed contract with National Health Service of Ukraine

CSD LAB medical laboratory began operating within the framework of the Medical Guarantees Program (MPG), allowing patients to receive free laboratory tests as directed by their physician.
According to a press release from the laboratory, the list of services available under the PMG includes more than 400 tests.
In order to take laboratory tests in the CSD LAB network under PMG, a patient must have an electronic referral from a family physician or a physician of any specialty created in the Electronic Health System (EHS). The results of the laboratory tests performed under the Medical Assurance Program are transmitted to the EHR, as in the case of the state laboratories.

The lab specifies that patients will be able to choose a lab office, date and time of their visit, and make an appointment online.
“We were the first private laboratory to contract with the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU). We have a long and quite effective cooperation with medical institutions of all forms of ownership to ensure accurate laboratory diagnosis and its maximum accessibility to all segments of the population. This decision was logical and reasonable, as it expands possibilities for both patients and doctors”, – informed Alexander Dudin, CSD LAB General Director and co-owner.
The CSD LAB, one of the leading laboratories in Ukraine, provides over 1500 analyses, from general blood analysis to genetic disorders in tumors by NGS method, and for 12 years has been one of the largest pathomorphological laboratories in Eastern Europe.
The CSD LAB has six laboratories: pathomorphology, cytomorphology, oncohematology, microbiology, clinical diagnostic laboratory and molecular genetics center. CSD LAB performs more than 1.5 million tests annually.
Production facilities and modern high-tech equipment are located in Kiev and Lviv on a total area of more than 5 thousand square meters, as well as in Moldova and Georgia.

All operating nuclear power plants in Ukraine have reduced capacity due to threat of missile attacks

The Pivdenno-Ukrainian, Khmelnytskyi and Rivne nuclear power plants with a total capacity of about 7,800 MW have reduced capacity to 4,700 MW due to the threat of missile attacks by Russian invaders, NAEC Energoatom said in a Telegram feed Thursday morning.
“As of 6:30 a.m. Thursday, all power units have a combined output of 4,700 MW to the power system,” the statement said.
The NAEC also clarified that the last power supply line to the occupied Zaporizhzhya ZNPP went out as a result of Russian rocket fire at 3:53 a.m. on March 9.
“At present, the plant is de-energized and went into blackout mode for the sixth time during the occupation, the 5th and 6th power units are put into cold state, 18 diesel generators are switched on to supply ZNPP’s own needs. Fuel for their work is left for 10 days,” described the situation in Enerhoatom.
They pointed out that in case of impossibility to resume external power supply to the plant, an accident with radiation consequences for the entire world could happen during this time.
“The countdown has begun,” the company commented.
As reported, the occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP was completely de-energized for the sixth time since the occupation on March 4, 2022, having lost connection with the last power line and the ability to receive electric power from the Ukrainian grid, switched to diesel generators.
