The number of pigs of the agricultural holding KSG Agro in August 2022 grew by 20% compared to the beginning of the year, to more than 60,000 heads from 50,000, according to a press release from the agrarian group.
At the same time, in the first half of 2022, the holding increased sales of live pigs by 7%, to 56,700 heads, compared with January-June last year (52,900 heads).
KSG Agro said that the increase in livestock was achieved by improving the quality of the herd due to the purchase of sows and boars, rejuvenating the livestock, as well as improving technologies and production processes.
The vertically integrated holding KSG Agro is engaged in pig breeding, as well as the production, storage, processing and sale of grains and oilseeds. Its land bank is about 21,000 hectares.

Ukraine in January-August 2022 reduced the import of aluminum ores and concentrate (bauxite) in kind by 72.1% compared to January-August 2021, to 945,207 tonnes.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service, during this period, bauxite imports in monetary terms dropped by 68.9%, to $48.027 million.
The products were mainly imported from Guinea (59.07% of supplies in monetary terms), Brazil (27.27%) and Ghana (7.5%).
Ukraine in January-August 2022 did not re-export bauxite.
As reported, Ukraine in 2021 reduced the import of aluminum ores and concentrate (bauxite) in kind by 0.1% compared to 2020, to 5.114 million tonnes. Bauxite imports in monetary terms grew by 4.2%, to $236.638 million.
The products were mainly imported from Guinea (59.33% of supplies in monetary terms), Brazil (21.33%) and Ghana (16.8%).
Ukraine in 2021 re-exported bauxite in the amount of 277 tonnes worth $70,000 to Belarus (48.57%), Poland (40%) and the Russian Federation (7.14%).
Bauxites are aluminum ores used as a raw material for the production of alumina, and from it aluminium is made. They are also used as fluxes in ferrous metallurgy.
Bauxites are imported to Ukraine by the Mykolaiv Alumina Refinery, affiliated with RusAl (Russia). Alumina is produced from bauxite.
RusAl also earlier had a stake in the Zaporizhia Aluminum Plant (ZAlK) in Ukraine, which stopped producing primary aluminum and alumina.
The WHO Regional Office for Europe and the European Commission (EC) have confirmed their joint efforts to prevent monkeypox, which threatens to become endemic in Europe, according to a communiqué published in Brussels on Tuesday.
“We are witnessing an unprecedented spread of monkeypox orthopoxvirus in our region and around the world,” said Hans Kluge, Director of the WHO European Office, and Stella Kyriakidis, EC Health Member, in a joint statement on the occasion of the 72nd session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe.
“This zoonotic virus, previously associated with only limited human-to-human spread in non-endemic countries, is now a global cross-border public health threat in Europe and an international public health emergency,” the document emphasizes.
The statement said that since the beginning of May 2022, more than 23,000 cases of monkeypox have been reported in the WHO European Region, of which more than 18,000 occur in the EU and the European Economic Area.
“The coordinated and collaborative response efforts of our European national and regional health agencies and authorities have been very important and we are now seeing a decline in cases in recent weeks. We believe the way to prevent the disease from becoming endemic in our region is to first fight against outbreaks and then working towards sustainable elimination of monkeypox in Europe, which means no sustained human-to-human transmission,” Kluge and Kyriakidis explain.
They pledged that the European Commission and WHO will continue to work together in consultation with Member States to “determine joint timelines, criteria and indicators to prevent the disease from becoming endemic in Europe.”

Metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine in January-August this year reduced revenues from the export of ferrous metals by 58% compared to the same period last year – to $3 billion 724.478 million from $8 billion 917.510 million.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS), ferrous metals accounted for 12.86% of total merchandise export earnings over this period compared to 21.34% in January-August 2021.
In August, proceeds from the export of ferrous metals amounted to $234.658 million.
At the same time, in January-August of this year, Ukraine reduced imports of similar products by 37.8%, to $558.954 million. In August, it was imported for $85.439 million.
In addition, during the specified period, Ukraine reduced the export of metal products by 8.9% – to $703.130 million. In August, they were delivered for $70.961 million.
Imports of metal products in January-August decreased by 40.3% – to $413.181 million (in August – $61.941 million).
As reported, Ukraine in 2021 increased foreign exchange earnings from exports of ferrous metals by 81.4% compared to 2020, to $13 billion 951.117 million. Ferrous metals accounted for 20.49% of total revenues from exports of goods over this period against 15 .63% for 2020.
At the same time, Ukraine increased imports of similar products by 48.8% in 2021, to $1 billion 547.477 million.
In addition, Ukraine in 2021 increased the export of metal products by 43% – up to $1 billion 293.199 million.
Imports of metal products over the past year increased by 28% – up to $1 billion 125.908 million.
In its September report, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) increased the forecast for the harvest of Ukrainian corn in 2022/2023 marketing year (MY, July-June) by 1.5 million tons compared to August, up to 31.5 million tons from 30 million tons, and its export estimate has been raised by 0.5 million tons to 13 million tons from 12.5 million tons.
According to a report on the US Department of Agriculture website on Tuesday, the estimate of domestic corn consumption in Ukraine has been increased by 1 million tons – from 10.5 million tons to 11.5 million tons.
In the new forecast, the agency also raised the forecast for wheat production in Ukraine in 2022/2023 MY by 1 million tons – up to 20.5 million tons from 19.5 million tons, while the estimate of its exports remained at the same level – 11 million tons. At the same time, the forecast for its domestic consumption in Ukraine has also been increased by 0.5 million tons – up to 5.5 million tons from 5 million tons.
“Forecast of production (wheat – IF) in Ukraine increased by 1 million tons, to 20.5 million, as the harvest is almost completed, and government statistics indicate higher final yields in the forest and forest-steppe zones,” the Ministry of Agriculture said in a report. USA.
