Ukraine at the end of the first quarter or beginning of the second quarter of 2022 will launch a program to subsidize the interest rate for leasing electric vehicles, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Rostyslav Shurma has said.”In Germany, France, Italy, 70% of car purchases are leasing at a cost of 0.5-1.5%. We have 12%, 15%, 17%. In four years, a person pays the cost of a car twice. Here we will launch the same program [subsidizing the interest rate], but not with all cars, but with electric vehicles. This will stimulate a “green” transformation in the country,” Shurma said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.Asked when the Ukrainian electric car will appear in this program, Shurma said that for the first time it will be assistance to citizens, and not to own production, which is not yet available in Ukraine, but in two years it can be extended to manufacturers who are localized production in Ukraine.”I know this industry well, in addition, we consulted with automakers. It takes two years to localize the production of electric vehicles. This program will operate in a universal form for two years, and then will extend to manufacturers who have localized production. We send such a signal to the market: if you want to keep your product competitive not only now, but also in two years, do localization,” he said.
According to preliminary data, Ukraine International Airlines (UIA, Kyiv) carried about 3.2 million passengers in 2021, which is 1.7 times higher than the result for 2020 (about 1.8 million people).
“The total number of passengers planned for 2022 will be about 4.3 million. This is 36% higher than in 2021. We do not expect a rapid increase in the company and the volume of traffic, because the situation is such that we do not expect any special charms this year. But, nevertheless, today, the company is in a very balanced and economically correct state,” CEO of the airline Yevhen Dykhne said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
He also said that in 2022, UIA expects a reduction in the share of charter passenger traffic in the total volume of its traffic to 24%, while in 2021 this share was about 50%.
“We expect the financial result of 2021 to be positive. We had a very good result for 10 months. It was an operating result of about $15 million. We see that we will also end the year in positive numbers. What numbers? There will be the financial report, then we will be able to talk about it,” Dykhne said.
UIA transported 1.787 million passengers in 2020, which is 75% less than in 2019 (about 8 million people).
According to the financial statements of UIA, in the first nine months of 2021 its profit amounted to UAH 1.09 billion.
In 2020, the airline’s loss amounted to UAH 4.5 billion, which, according to its data, was primarily due to the industry-wide crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It finished 2019 with a profit of UAH 1.6 billion versus a loss of UAH 2.7 billion in 2018.

After the acquisition of Kherson Oil Transshipment Complex in early 2021, OKKO Group invested more than UAH 60 million in the reconstruction of the facility, according to a press release from the company on Tuesday.
“During this period, the company has modernized a tank farm and an oil depot, which is part of Kherson Oil Transshipment Complex, built new auto-loading points, restored a fire reservoir, etc.,” the document says.
According to OKKO Group, on the territory of the oil depot, located 4.5 km from a harbor, a new auto-loading rack with an automated control system has been built, which can serve six vehicles at the same time, as well as a new pumping station.
Since a railway track is connected to the tank farm, a railway overpass for loading into tank cars also operates on its territory.
“We received an object in which no one had invested anything for years. Thus, we faced a difficult task: to make it not only economically efficient, but also technologically safe in the shortest possible time,” Vasyl Kindiy, Head of OKKO oil terminals network, said.
According to him, the company intends to carry out significant volumes of work at Kherson Oil Transshipment Complex also in 2022. In particular, an increase in the traffic flow is expected, including due to the arrangement of infrastructure for receiving bitumen tankers.
At present, Kherson Oil Transshipment Complex is capable of receiving simultaneously two tankers with a volume of 6,500 tonnes each with a period of unloading one tanker about a day.
“But already now we can say that Ukraine has got another opportunity to fill the domestic market of petroleum products with resources from the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions,” Kindiy summed up.
The OKKO Group network has 10 own oil depots, one gas pumping station, Kherson Oil Transshipment Complex, 19 stationary and mobile laboratories for quality control of petroleum products.
The group includes a network of OKKO filling stations (Concern Galnaftogaz) – one of the largest filling networks in Ukraine, which includes 420 filling complexes.
The majority shareholder of the company is Vitaliy Antonov, among the minority shareholders is the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
